Enter the living space with a wall of windows and sliding door to the deck. The living room has seating for all with large custom super long couches. The carpet is brand NEW and PLUSH. The stone fireplace is charming and provides easy ambiance and heat with gas log setup. The New BIG SCREEN Sony 40' tv can be seen from all areas of the living space. There is plenty of lighting both with ceiling spots and elegant lamps.

The decor of this unit for all you fashionistas has an Anthropology meets Denmark style. You will enjoy the flavor of this condo with it's custom designed amenities and style. IT DOES NOT HAVE A HOTEL FEEL, but an eclectic stylized Aspen home vibe.

The living room flows right into the dining room with large expandable Danish wood dining table. Tucked under the circular staircase is a bistro set that can be placed on the deck for al fresco dining.

The galley kitchen has new wood floors and is fully equipped. There should not be any utensil or need for the gourmet chef to the microwave cook including things such as electric carving knife. There are spices in the cupboard and essentials. The New GE Slate Fridge/Freezer includes an ice-maker. The dishes and bar ware are top quality.

This rarely used, new to the market condo comes equipped with wireless internet, cable tv, DVD player, BOSE bluetooth sound link so you can bring all your music with you on your phone, tablet or laptop and enjoy quality sound, and the classic radio/record playing stereo. There are the classic board games for young and old to enjoy. There is a wireless phone for the great room to use for local and toll free calls.

The Master Bedroom has a brand new Beauty Rest Queen mattress. There is plenty of drawers in the Ethan Allen furniture and large closet with luggage rack. The room also is equipped with a VANITY and SINK! No lines to brush your teeth at the first floor bath! The master bedroom has plenty of lighting with brand new Pier 1 lamps and a telephone at bedside. There is a 7 foot view window to watch the birds sing in the summer and watch the snow drifting down on the evergreens in the winter. All bedding is new.

Bedroom #2 has new Twin memory foam beds. There are two Ethan Allen Designer Series chests of drawers and a large closet with luggage rack. The closets in all rooms are equipped with extra blankets. Telephone at bedside. There is a window to take in the great outdoors and let the sun shine in. The beds are not to be moved and rearranged.

The downstairs bathroom is spacious with tub/shower. There is brand new flooring and coat of paint. New fixtures, new towels and shower curtain. There is one sink and plenty of drawers and cupboard space and nightlight.

The two bedrooms and downstairs bathroom can be separated with a closing door to the living space for those who need their rest and for those who stay up all night telling ski stories and watching Jimmy Falon and movies.

Climb up the spiral staircase and there will be those begging to get the loft room as their accommodations. This fun hang out room has three twin beds, two large closets, a large dresser, a tv suitable for gaming and fun chair to play those games including Guitar Hero and Play Station. You will not miss the SHAG carpeting. It is loved by all! There is a window to check for snow and watch the stars. Volume soaring ceilings make you feel like you are in a chalet. The loft bedroom overlooks the main living space so all feel apart of what's going on downstairs.

Upstairs there is a bathroom with bathtub/shower and one sink. There is plenty of storage and counter space. I wish I had a spacious bathroom this big back home! Yes it has a surprising color scheme.

All laundry of towels and bedding is included with your rental as well as housecleaning.

The housekeeper is available for you if you have any needs or questions during your stay. The unit is cleaned after your departure. The cleaning fee is included in your rate.

Why Susan Cox chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

Our family is based in Florida and we wanted a retreat from the heat and the experience of the seasons for our entire family to enjoy. The times we spend here brings us all together. When we walked in the door and saw the view stretching for as far as the eye can see, left to right, we were stunned. There is something special about moving around in this space always knowing the great expanse is all around you. We liked the peacefulness of living at the higher elevations of Beech Mountain. We also loved the condo setting with some people around to get to know. Yet, this condo does not feel like a condo at all. It is an end unit and the soaring ceilings and two levels make it feel like a single family home. Having a condo setting makes locking up easy with property managers to keep an eye on the unit for us.

What makes this condo unique

Beech Mountain is charming and the only city at such a high elevation on the east coast. The town does so much to offer amenities and everything is very upscale centered around the Beech Mountain Club. The road to our unit is paved all the way and very well kept. When you enter Squirrel Lane, the road becomes gravel. Squirrel Lane has a cute little park as you enter the street. You will see a small building that says 'Northridge Villas' and you park there and walk down from there to our unit and up the stairs to the front door. It is close to everything, yet far away. It is nice just to walk around the villas themselves and the streets nearby up to sunset park. You can have as much activity as you want or no activity. The unit is very clean and comfortable with everything in mind to anticipate your needs. It feels like a special home, not a hotel room. It is your cabin in the woods get away.

Enjoyed our stay!

  • 4 of 5

The condo was exactly as advertised and suited our needs perfectly. The board games saved us on a day that was so ugly we couldn't leave the condo. Easy drive to Freds. If you want to get away it is a really cool place to stay. Not much to do for youngsters though. We would stay here again.

What a view!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the condo for a long weekend in August. Although not fancy, it was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed. The decor was rustic with a cool vintage feel to it. The location was convenient to Fred's, restaurants, Beech Mt. Ski resort and numerous hiking trails. Last but far from least is the view. Amazing panoramic view of the mountains! Susan was great to work with and very accommodating. We will definitely be back.

DIdn't Want to Leave!

  • 5 of 5

We made this trip with a party including myself, my husband, my 14 yo son and 13 yo niece, and 5 yo granddaughter. We had never been to Beech Mtn/Banner Elk and this was the 2 girls first time skiing. We had a blast. The house was as described--I personally think it is better in person than photos. It was a 70's retro look, and we loved it. The gas logs kept us cozy. The view was AMAZING. The kids stayed up in the loft, and loved it. It was SO close to Beech Mountain, and the scenic drive we took gave us the opportunity to snap some photos of the deer. The town hall has a free sledding hill for kids under 12. And there are tons of places to eat, shop--but still has a small mountain town feel. Loved it, would highly recommend, and would visit again. The homeowner was extremely easy to communicate with, and even sent us information about the area before we arrived. Thank you so much for having us at your home!

Spacious Mountain Retreat with Excellent Views

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 loved our stay here. The owner is an attentive, helpful and welcoming host. The kitchen is well equipped and the little dated decor is clean, functional and comfortable. We slept well in the warm beds. The description in home and away is accurate and there are lots of things to do at Beech Mountain and beyond. We would recommend this stay.

Lovely week in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

My daughter attends college near Beech Mountain, and we decided to visit during her fall break. The condo was a perfect place for our family of five, with an incredible view of the mountains, in their fall glory. The clouds changed the view dramatically each morning--one morning we could hardly see beyond the nearest tree, and another, we had an incredible, panoramic view of the sunrise. It was incredible to watch the sky turn colors shortly before the sun rose, in bright little increments, above the mountain. Nuthatches, goldfinches, and chickadees visited the porch feeders in abundance.

The condo itself is very comfortable and clean throughout, with plenty of space. Because my daughter wanted a change of pace from college food, we cooked and ate several main meals in the condo. The view from the dining table is incredible! Although we were too busy enjoying other things to watch TV in the living room, we did enjoy the ambience of the gas fireplace and excellent sound quality from the Bose blue-tooth speaker which connected effortlessly to our devices. Our cell phone coverage was (as always) hit and miss in the mountains, but the wi-fi connection in the condo was excellent. We also enjoyed playing board games in the house--and again, everything is more fun with a view, even board games!

We enjoyed several day trips to Boone, Grandfather Mountain, Asheville, Valle Crucis, and it was always a delight to return to this condo, its comforts, and its beautiful, changing view, each evening.

Susan was friendly and helpful as we planned our trip, and the on-site manager quickly answered our question when we were having trouble locating the building's washer and dryer. Do be aware that this is in the mountains, and the wonderful view is the result of the house being elevated above others in the area, so if you stay here you should be comfortable with and able to do stairs with ease. It was excellent exercise for our family of Floridian flat-landers, but would have been difficult for a relative we'd invited who walks with a cane.

We've stayed in many VRBO homes, including others in the area, and this one stood above the rest--not only literally, in altitude and view, but also in comforts and cleanliness.

Car: recommended

This beautiful condo is in the perfect area on Beech Mountain. It is at a high altitude affording amazing views above the treetops. Beech Mountain Ski Resort is only a half mile away and walking distance for the young and hardy. There are 7 lifts and 15 trails. The Beech Mountain Resort has been one of the most popular ski destinations on the east coast for 45 years. The elevation and snow-making capabilities make it some of the best skiing in the Carolinas. The ski village has everything one could need both for skiers and non-skiers including a lodge, restaurants, shopping and ice skating.

From our condo, a beautiful 3 mile drive takes you to the city of Beech Mountain's Buckeye Lake Recreation Center providing fitness classes, hiking trails to falls, a running trail with lake views, weight training, fitness classes of all types including 2 kinds of yoga, basketball, cardio equipment, a library and daily activities for kids, teens and adults.

Enjoying Beech Mountain means enjoying it's beauty. Hiking trails are all over Beech Mountain. A visit to Lake Coffey Park includes a lake trail and fishing pier. From there you can take the Upper Pond Creek trail or more challenging Lower Pond Creek trail as you immerse yourself in hikes full of streams, rapids and boulder view spots surrounded by beech trees, evergreens with the occasional glimpses of wildlife. Just walk out the front door of the condo and go for a walk and you will see vistas, deer and enjoy the fresh quiet serene beauty of the top of Beech. Beech Mountain has plenty of restaurants ranging from the family friendly pizza place to the charming and 5 star quality romantic spot. Fred;s Mercantile is nearby to get that quick meal, provisions and bottle of wine.

At the bottom of the mountain is the charming college town of Banner Elk. It offers a dozens of restaurants including my favorite 'Frogs and Monkeys', shopping, theater, churches, a winery complete with tours and excursion companies offering whitewater rafting, tubing, caving and winter sports and sleigh rides. All this is within 15 minutes of the condo. Highway 194 in Banner Elk leads the way to one of the most scenic drives in America: The drive to Valle Crucis is sheer beauty and charm where many a visitor enjoys the stop to tour historical Mast General Store. Mast General Store is full of fun for everyone and there is always something going on with musicians or festivals to make it worth the drive.

Winters are full of snow and crystal beauty. Summers are cool. As soon as you climb the mountain, you forget the steaming hot temperatures of whereto you came. There are activities every week on Beech including kite festivals, bike races and renown music festivals. The town has put together so many activities for all ages, there is always a list of things to do to fill in your time. My favorites are hiking, outdoor yoga, fishing, rafting, golf and tennis. There are so many activities for children they can look forward to hay rides, arts and crafts and swimming. Cool days and nights with fresh mountain air, windows wide open and beauty everywhere you look.
