Great care was taken in furnishing the home for comfort in Fall 2012. The kitchen offers everything you need including granite countertops, and other attractive finishes. Wireless internet. Linens included. Beach chairs and towels provided. Absolutely everything is nearby. 2 miles to the Siesta Key bridge where the award winning beach offers sugary white beaches and tropical crystal waters. If you have never experienced Siesta Key you are in for a breath taking treat. Winner of the 'World's finest, whitest sand, USA Today International Edition voted Siesta one of the best walking beaches in the US, and National Geographic called it one of the 'Best beaches of the world'. Downtown Sarasota shops and Famous shopping at St. Armand's circle are just a 10 minute drive. For the bargain hunters, the consignment shops and estate sales abound!

The home features wireless Internet, FIOS TV with over 250 channels, movies, and back episodes of some of your favorite shows. The fenced yard includes a private pool, Webber gas grill, and patio to enjoy the western exposure offering beautiful sunsets. A cozy backyard hammock hangs between 2 towering palms to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area. The Master bedroom features a private bath, walk in closet, and flat screen TV and an extra single bed. The guest room has 1 twin and 1 full size bed, a wall of closets and its own flat screen tv. The guest bath offers a tub shower combo. A third full bath is perfect after the beach/pool. The pull out couch in the living room with upgraded mattress can offer semi privacy with glass doors (still open on one side though). Neighborhood is very well maintained Garage with opener. We will consider well behaved pets. Absolutely no cats though as we are allergic

About Ann Baker

We live near the beach in Delaware and visited Sarasota for the first time in Spring 2012. Our friends had purchased a home here and we immediately fell in love with the beauty of the white sand beaches, the really fun places to visit, shop, and eat, and the people who are genuine and warm. We have 2 daughters, one just graduated from College and one a Freshman in college. My husband is a CPA and I am A Delaware Licensed Realtor. We are beach people and own a condo in Bethany Beach so we are not first time rental property owners but always wanted a home where we could enjoy the beach all year round. We purchased this not just to rent but to use ourselves and for our friends and family so we have furnished it so we would enjoy the getaway as much as our guests. We also care for it in that way and ask our guests to also! We want this to be a great place to relax and rejuvenate.

Why Ann Baker chose Sarasota

We chose this home because we loved the pool and privacy of the back yard, the Creek behind the house means the closest home we back up to is quite a distance away. We loved the kitchen, tons of living area, but mostly, the location of this home sold us. We are literally 1 mile from fabulous shopping, a few miles to the beach, 10 minutes to downtown with amazing restaurants and so much to see and do, and the airports both Sarasota (15 mins) and Tampa (just over an hour) are so easily accessible. The Creek, by the way, does not have a dock to it so although there are lots of boating opportunities nearby, you cannot boat from the back yard. But you can curl up in a hammock in the backyard with a great book or cocktail! UPDATE! We completely refurbished out pool and deck area in Fall 2015.

What makes this house unique

The sunsets in the back yard are gorgeous. You don't have to travel to the beach to enjoy them. We have tried to include most everything you'll need, we include linens, (including beach towels), beach chairs, and wireless internet. The kitchen has everything we could think of to make your stay enjoyable but feel free to let us know if you think we are missing something.

Not worth the cost

This house wasn't the most attractive house on the outside and that's fine. But it had some character to it. It was much nicer on the inside then was out. I think a little paint and TLC would go a longways here. I believe it's best feature was the back yard and pool! We spent a lot of time there. There were lots of shops and restaurants around and not a bad commute. I would recommend bring some pans to cook with as there were only two medium size skillets and a few small ones It could use lots of updating. The kitchen sink has rust on the side and is deteriorating. The bathroom toilet in the master had trouble flushing and it has a double sink but the left side doesn't drain properly. Also, there was a note left on the thermostat "please don't set thermostat lower than 74"? That's a bit ridiculous!! It was extremely hot in Florida and when that sun starts to set, it heats that house up to the high 70's. There were lots of ceiling fans throughout but come on? The worst part was that the only trash can was completely full from the previous guest and we had to put our trash in the garage so no animals would get to it. By the end of the week we had several bags of trash stinking up the garage. I contacted the owner, she apologized for that and said that she would send someone over to pick it up (nobody came) but I can also can emphasize with her as the property owner and having to count on others to maintain her Florida property. Before we checked out, my husband took all the trash out to the curb for pick up (ours from out the garage and the previous guest) Overall I just didn't think it was at all worth what I paid and that's based clearly off the home it's self not the experience or Inconviences. Also, I noticed that I was charged pet fee?? We didn't even have a pet!? Just not worth the price considering it's just very old and needs lots of updates.

Owner's Response: Thank you Amanda. I agree that we needed to do some updating and since you were here, this is what we have had done. We replaced our roof with a new terracotta colored tile roof. We had water damage around our front door so we replaced all of the wood around it and we have a freshly painted aqua colored door too. We have a new Kohler Cast iron white sink, faucet and reverse osmosis system for fresh filtered drinking water from the faucet. The slow drain in the master bath was fixed by the plumber when he installed the new sink. We had our master bathroom painted with a coastal blue. Since all the flooring except the tile was replaced in the last 2 years (new hardwood in living room, new carpet in both bedrooms) and a new dishwasher this spring. The pool was refinished with new tile and the whole inside surface redone along with the decking around it in Dec 2015. All of our furniture except the second bedroom is 4 years old. The second bedroom has cool furniture that isn't new but the mattresses are. I've never had someone complain about the amount of cookware we have but I am going to add photos to the site so a potential guest can see exactly what we have. I can't think of anything left we can do to make our house as new as can be without being new. If you look at the size of our a/c unit, it is the size of a commercial grade unit and could cool a house twice the size of ours. It is only 4 years old. If someone needs to go below 74 to be comfortable, they usually do that and it cools down immediately to whatever temp you desire. We just don't like waste so we only ask that. Thank you for the positive comments too. We love our location, close to so many beaches, downtown, and pretty much anywhere you want to be, you can get there in a few minutes. And our backyard is so private and beautiful we are glad you enjoyed it too.

Great Location, House Needs Some TLC

This house is in a great location and could be a rental gem. However after staying there for two months, it is lacking some necessary amenities for renting at the price I paid. The house was not available and cleaned at the stated time of arrival, the beautiful pool is not heated so it can't be used in Jan, Feb, March.The "master shower is going to be replaced",by the owner, but I could not use it.There was a pool shower I could use instead. The house was not well maintained as other guests have stated. The quality of the towels and linens was not acceptable. The house could use a power wash and windows cleaned on the exterior and interior. The owner does not live in the area, so remedies to some situations took some time. I could not recommend the house to friends or relatives at this time. However I know the owners have spent some money to upgrade the property and plan to do so in the future. I learned not to rent a house for two months without personally seeing the property before renting.

Owner's Response: We were so sorry to see this review and in fact didn't even see it until now as VRBO used to notify us when a new review was posted, our bad.The pool was completely refurbished ($12,000) in Dec.We clearly state that it is not heated.This past Jan and Feb were unusually stormy/chilly. I suspect it has a lot to do with this guest's unhappiness.You can see other Jan & Feb reviews we've had in the past. Our new patio umbrella was left open by this guest during a storm (?) which destroyed it, we replaced it with another new one within 24 hours, no charge to guest.She sent me an email with "tornado" in the subject line. there was not a tornado at our house, it was somewhere else in Sarasota. She complained her handicapped friend could not use the shower because it was too slippery and had to buy a bath mat, there was a bathmat just below the sink. She never told us anyone else was going to stay until after we agreed to the lease. They complained that they couldn't figure out the shower. Like most showers, you pull out the lever. I had someone go to the house to show them. I even apologized at the time? Our caretaker lives in our neighborhood, has a home care business, and is very responsive. 3 things she stated were indeed the case. Our cleaner was cleaning when she arrived. The cleaner cleans very thoroughly but she failed to say, which she did at the time, that the house was very clean which without fail, our guests always comment on. She complained our cleaner moved too slow. She also had trouble with the top drawer of the dishwasher falling off track, that was true and we have an entirely new dishwasher now. the towels were not enough for more than 1 person but my cleaner didn't know more than 1 person would be there. I have 4 sets of brand new towels. There was also 1 old beach towel with a hole in it which we threw away but there were 3 other great beach towels in the closet. I'm not sure the guest ever looked? The house has now been power washed and the Windows cleaned. They were dirty because it stormed while the guest was there. We love our little house and almost everyone that stays there loves it too. We have lots of repeats and they have not reviewed us again because they already reviewed us once. Everyone always comments that it is so relaxing and re energizing, they love our pool and location too. That's what we aim for!

Relaxing house

We had a lovely week stay in this house. It was really comfortable, well thought out and had everything we needed. Ann was lovely to deal with and very prompt to respond to queries both before and during our stay.

The house is close distance to shops and a short drive to the beaches on Siesta Key and local shops.

The pool area was a little tired looking but a lick of paint would sort that out. There were plenty of loungers and chairs available to sit out.

If returning to the area we would stay here again as we had a very relaxing holiday and were able to enjoy the benefits of a well thought out kitchen for cooking in the evenings and plenty of space.

I agree our pool needed a little sprucing up so we had the bottom chemically cleaned (then rebalanced the water) and also had some tile work done around the edge. We also power washed the deck. Wonderful Vacation!

We had a great time yet again staying at this beautiful home. The weather was perfect.

We spent allot of time hanging out by the pool. The beaches were amazing. We went to Disney again this year which is not a long drive from the place. The home was even nicer than the last time we came since they added new hardwood floors to the dining room area and a new umbrella and hammock at the back. Ann is a wonderful lady and treats her customers well. The only regret is that we left it to the last minute and were only able to book 1 week which was not enough time. This place has everything-- beach chairs, beach bag and bike to use. Also has a BBQ! Our boys love the netflix. We miss it already and are hoping to come back again soon.
