Waterfront House, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 6)
It's beautiful here!
Our three story, fully updated 3BR, 1.5 BA beach home was built in 1904, and is located right on the waterfront at the very end of Hake Road. The house is built into a hillside and there are about 30 stairs from the parking area to the house.
Incredible views from anywhere you sit and beautiful sunsets. You can anchor your boat at our buoy.
Master Bedroom queen bed, full closet, widow's walk.
Small bedroom with a twin bunk bed, Half-Bath, Full Kitchen, and Living Room/Dining Room with double sleeper sofa. French Doors open out onto covered porch with a hammock and a porch swing.
Queen Bedroom with flat screen TV. Full bathroom, mini bar with refrigerator/microwave. French doors open onto deck with hot tub.
Off the ground floor deck there is a small lawn which leads to a dock over the water. There are also stairs from the lawn to the beach. At some higher tides, the water comes right up to the seawall so there is limited beach access.
Due to the size of the house, and septic system, we have limited our home to 6 people max. If your party contains more than 6 people, you may want to look for a larger property.

About Eric Rucker
We're a family of four from Seattle that loves spending time together and enjoying nature.
Eric Rucker purchased this House in 2012
Why Eric Rucker chose Vashon Island
We've been looking for the perfect Vashon beachfront home for years. Vashon is a special place with a vibrant arts community and extensive natural beauty. We wanted a place that was as sunny as possible - it had to be west facing. Our home has direct sun exposure from about 10:30 in the morning until sunset. We also wanted a place that had a very natural view with exposure to lots of wildlife. We regularly enjoy seeing eagles, deer, fish, seals, otters, various waterfowl and lots of sea creatures along the beach.
What makes this House unique
A fully updated 1904 Beach House. Three decks to hang out on! A full size hot tub! Beautiful views of Quartermaster harbor from every deck. And about an hour drive/ferry to downtown Seattle. Did we mention that it's really beautiful here?

We stayed in this lovely beachfront home on Vashon Island over Christmas and it was just right for our family. Roomy enough while still feeling cozy. It is an old cabin that has been wonderfully renovated while keeping the charm of its history. The well equiped kitchen, views of the Sound and hot tub were highlights. Thanks so much!
An Amazing New Year
Eric's beachfront house provided such a nice stay for our New Year's weekend. Eric was very communicative about the check-in and out process. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking utensils, spices and other standard cooking ingredients that allowed us to cook our many meals. The hot tub was perfect and provided a fantastic view of the bay from the deck. All the instructions for the house and the hot tub were well posted and easy to follow. We were surprised by the binder that contained the history of the 100 year old cottage. You would never even know that the house was that old, it was well insulated and didn't really have any quirks that usually come with homes that old (except some odd placement of light switches).
The house is at the very end of the road and seemed well secluded even though we were neighbored on each side by other homes, and still only a 20 minute drive to downtown Vashon. We didn't see the neighbors at all, that is until we had a friendly raccoon approach us while we were in the hot tub (he had triggered the neighbors flood lights and he came out to make sure the raccoon hadn't gotten into his garbage). The neighbor was super nice and we chatted a little about the raccoons in the area.
This was all of our first time out to Vashon Island and we're all looking forward to going back out during the summer for the Strawberry Festival and explore Vashon's trails. I'll definitely be looking to rent Eric's home again.
We love this place! This was our second Thanksgiving stay. The kids roamed the beach at low tide, we played games and did puzzles, we sat on the porch and enjoyed the beautiful view.... The hot tub is the icing on the cake! A very relaxing and enjoyable weekend in this charming, old cottage with an interesting history.
Fantastic place to stay
This is a beautiful home. It was very well stocked with everything we needed, cozy and comfortable for our family of six (four teenagers). It was a delight to wake up and take in the breathtaking views. We spent most of our time in Seattle and Tacoma so my advice to travelers is to add plenty of time for ferry travel if you are planning on using the island as a base of operations. The owners were responsive and attentive. They adequately provided all of the needed information. I would definitely recommend this property and would absolutely stay here again.
Overall great time was had by our family. We have a 1 year old so all the stairs kept us on our toes. The older kids and my husband and I really enjoyed kayaking and the kids swan a ton. Really enjoyed having the beach right at our fingertips. We also met the neighbors and got a little history about the area. We enjoyed the little town and went to music in the park as well. The hot tub was rejuvenating. Just a lovely spot!
Fantastic Island Hideaway
Our family loved staying at this property, with the beach to explore and the cozy home to come back to our 5 year old literally cried as she said, "goodbye wonderful house."
