Great Week at Stokes bay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had an incredible experience staying in this cottage located near the Government Dock at Stokes Bay, Ontario. Our hosts Cathy and Ted were outstanding and provided us with a nice itinerary of things to do while on the Bruce Peninsula. They also gave us a wonderful ride in their "party barge" along Stokes Bay and pointed out a number of the islands and natural sites in the area. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable, and Cathy and Ted had it stocked with plenty of comforts and equipment needed for a week of "camping". The front porch overlooked the government dock, and it was a great place to enjoy the morning coffee or to curl up with a book. The cottage has two bedrooms, so it is well suited for a small family as well. I found it to be a very relaxing place to be, but within a reasonable drive of a number of Bruce Peninsula activities, including Lion's Head, Greig's Cave, Bruce Peninsula National Park, Fathoms Five National Marine Park, "The Grotto", a number of beaches, and the signature town of "The Bruce" - Tobermory. We felt very welcome in this small community and truly enjoyed our experience. I would highly recommend this area to people interested in hiking and the outdoors, exploring the depths of Georgian Bay and Lake Erie, or those simply looking to "get away" from it all. We had not heard of this magical place until finding it on-line just over six weeks ago -- and we appreciate the opportunity to spend one week there.

Beautiful setting, comfortable accommodation, and well stocked kitchen.

We loved our stay at the cottage at Stokes Bay. We saw herons and cormorants daily. The owners of the cottage are very friendly and helpful. There are many sites to see and beaches to visit.
