Agriturismo Radicondoli is a quiet place for gaining new strength, allowing for relaxation by the panoramic pool or taking sightseeing day trips, experiencing Tuscan village life, walking in unspoilt, breathtakingly beautiful countryside or exploring the ancient spas scattered around the valley.
Pietro and his family are very warm, generous, positive and fun loving Sardinians who often organise large dinners with friends from neighbouring farms, improvise playing, singing and dancing to which all guests are always invited.
The family likes all guests to make themselves at home. You can take part in farming activities like milking the sheep and making cheese, or enjoy a quiet and relaxing week by the pool.
The price includes linen, towels, water/cooking gas/electricity consumption, wireless Internet connection and cleaning.
Heating is not included and it is charged at 15 Euro per night (from mid October to mid March).
The property was fairly basic but clean and well-maintained and quite adequate and of a similar standard to other properties that we have stayed in in Tuscany and Umbria. The setting looking across the valley towards Radicondoli was really beautiful. We enjoyed watching the sheep being brought in for milking by the two maremma sheepdogs. The sights and sounds at night time were magical: fireflies, the sheep with their bells and the nightingales. The owner, Pietro, was really pleasant and helpful.
We would recommend the property to others and may well return in the future.
We spent a lovely week in Podere. The location is stunning / views to dies for and the pool is absolutely gorgeous. We spent 4 days by the pool and made day trips to Siena and Florence. It was also necessary to take a few hours to do a supermarket trip to the nearest decent sized store which is about 35 - 40 mins drive away....so plan carefully. There is a small shop in Radicondoli but it does not sell a very wide choice of fresh produce.
Our host (Pietro) was most helpful with anything we needed and there were very few complaints we can make about the accommodation. Most days we ate on the stunning terrace cooking on the barbecue provided. We slept peacefully to the sound of bells from the sheep and the sight of fireflies.
It was very hot when we were there but Podere does not need AC and provides a cool respite in the evening from the Tuscan heat.
We live in Scotland and took the early part of our children's summer vacation to travel in as it helped with Air Fares since most of the rest of Europe are still at school. Luckily the Danes were on vacation at the same time and we were able to share the pool with a nice Danish family who had children of a similar age....otherwise it might have been more dull for our children.
Overall this was a lovely holiday in a lovely location and we would recommend it highly.
Maybe one more comment - Podere is down a quite rough and quite steep country track.....maybe 1.5K off the main road....so be prepared for some quite intrepid driving when you first arrive !!!
This is a gem, it is simple italian style accommodation, clean and tidy, off the beaten track with the most stunning Tuscan views. The raised terrace is a real bonus to enjoy the evening sunset with a glass of wine.
We had a lovely family holiday in this delightful property in a truly spectacular setting. Secluded but with easy access to Siena, Florence etc
The owner's of the farm were so hospitable and kind! We loved going for walks around the farm and spending time by the pool... A lovely place for family with kids. Would love to stay there again one day!
This really is a little piece of paradise. My partner and I spent a happy week here, having dinner in the garden looking across to Radicondoli. Pietro was a kind host and his father gave us cheese and tomatoes fresh from the farm. We made friends with the huge Etruscan sheep dogs that look after the sheep. Its a great base from which to explore this part of Italy by car and Radicondoli is a lovely town a short drive away. We shall return for sure.
The beautiful medieval village of Radicondoli is a mere 5km away and Belforte 2km. Siena 50kms, Florence 70km, S. Gimignano 35km, S. Galgano 25km.
Radicondoli is a picturesque village, set high on the hills of the Colline Metallifere, offering breathtaking views of the valleys around - stretching as far as Volterra and S. Gimignano.
It has a very strong identity and a very lively community. Throughout the year many village feasts liven up the otherwise quiet lifestyle. band is a gem.
Events worth mentioning are 1 May, S. Giovanni on 23 June; the famous Drama Festival from 27 July to 12 August which attracts Italian and International artists.
In Radicondoli you can find restaurants, groceries, bakery, chemist, post office, bank, butcher and physiotherapist. Do not miss a pizza at sunset at 'La Pergola' in Radicondoli.
The area is rich in thermal spas. Petriolo and Galleraie are but a few where you can spend a special day out lazing in the hot water under
