Vilar de Mouros House Rental Photos and Description

Peaceful location near Minho river and coast/beaches. Sleeps 8.

The house is in the most Northern part of Portugal, Minho, which is hilly and beautifully green. A place to get away from stressful life, to relax and regain energy. This is a comfortable luxury house in a calm gated condominium set in a mountain landscape next to river and beaches. The large outdoor pool and full size tennis court is shared by the secure gated community of houses. The house private garden area with high solar exposure has fruit trees, furniture, a parasol, sunbeds and BBQ. The first floor balcony has beautiful mountain (and pool) views and it is the ideal place to read a book and enjoy a glass of 'vinho verde'. There is enough secure parking for 3 cars. The local towns such as Vilar de Mouros, Caminha, Vila Nova de Cerveira and Ponte de Lima are picturesque and interesting. Just a few minutes you can go from the river to coast, green countryside to historical towns, golf to surfing and to enjoy with nice food and wine. House with WiFi, cable TV, bed linen and towels.

A drive into Spain for shopping, sightseeing or 'tapas' is very easy from the new bridge at Vila Nova de Cerveira or the ferry at Caminha. Porto and Vigo and Viana do Coastelo offers some astonishing shopping malls with all the international brands you could hope for under one roof. Of course Porto (1 hour away) is the second capital of Portugal that is famous for its wines, culture and historic sites. Night life is very good at beach places such as Caminha and Baiona, during summer. During the year Vigo (30 min away) as a vibrant night life.

Getting to Vilar de Mouros: flying to Porto is the easiest way to get to Caminha. It will be necessary to have a car. We will provide detailed directions from Porto airport to the doorstep of the Villa. It takes about an hour to drive along an almost empty motorway with some spectacular views. BA, TAP, Easyjet & Ryanair fly to Porto airport. Ryanair also fly to Santiago de Compostela in Spain which 1.30h from the property. Bilbao and Santander ferry ports are 7hrs drive to the North.

Villa Vilar de Mouros is a large, architect designed, house in a private community near Caminha. The accommodation is immaculate and looks out onto a huge pool, tennis court and garden with barbecue that are hidden from outsiders by high walls. The villa accommodates two families with ease. One PlayStation, games, DVDs, CDs will keep the children happy when they are not splashing in the pool or running in the large garden. This is a green and hilly region of the yet unspoiled Portugal where the well-to-do Portuguese go on holiday. It is quiet but it has plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes nearby. Sightseeing walks from the house in the green countryside include: 'monte do Calvario' a hill with spectacular views to the Minho river (15 min walk), walk to the roman bridge and picnic area by the river Coura (30 min walk) and to the 'marinhas' and panoramic view of Vilar de Mouros (20 min walk).

Good location, Nice pool, clean and spacious house

Clean house in a good area for sightseeing and beaches. The house could use some tender love and care to review the plumbing (for a more stable temperature of the water in the shower and the noise of the ventilation)

The property is very isolated.

It was almost impossible to find even with sat nav, the exterior badly needs painting the garden furniture was filthy and i had to wash it all even the bbq had to be scrubbed, the four sun beds were all torn, you have to climb over a four feet wall to get to the pool not good for a 70 year old with bad knees, there is no parasol for the garden table. It was very dusty and lots of hair under the rear double bed.The pillows were very badly stained and were filthy.

The basement was very damp and smelly nobody could sleep there. There is no restaurant in the village as it was closed down, so we had to drive 7 kilometers to the nearest restaurant, there is no public transport from the village and we could not get a taxi on a Friday or Saturday so i had to drive everywhere.

There is a small bar / cafe nearby but they allow smoking so we did not use it.

Also we had no Wi Fi for the last two days of our stay. The property is very isolated.

Impeccable hébergement bien placé

La maison qui se situe à une heure de Porto est tout simplement un hébergement idéal pour une famille et groupes. Rien de manque et en plus on est très bien accueilli. Outre les activités piscine, tennis et babyfoot ! la maison est idéalement placée pour découvrir Porto et le Douro et faire une escapade dans le finistère espagnol sans compter Saint Jacques de Compostelle. 10 jours passés ... trop peu et trop vite.

Schöner Urlaub!

Wir haben uns in diesem Haus sehr wohl gefühlt. Natürlich gibt es auch hier ein paar kleine Kritikpunkte, aber die sind kaum der Rede wert. Allerdings ist darauf hinzuweisen, dass der Kellerraum mit den beiden Doppelstockbetten höchstens im Notfall genutzt werden sollte, da es hier offensichtlich ein kleines Feuchtigkeitsproblem (die Waschmaschine steht in diesem Raum) und keine Fenster gibt. Für bis zu 6 Personen ist es eine sehr gute Unterkunft. Tennisplatz und Gemeinschaftspool waren in gutem Zustand! Die Betreuung vor Ort durch Liliana war nett und zuvorkommend. Die Organisation im Vorfeld unserer Reise per E-Mail mit Filipe hat auch problemlos funktioniert.

Excellent house, quality equipment & furnituture.

Just spent 9 days at this house. I cannot praise it enough. It's large, very well appointed and a real pleasure to stay in. Very rural although easy drives to tourist spots, shops, restaurants etc. Village is lovely with a mix of ancient and modern. There is one well stocked local shop with very friendly staff who seemed to enjoy my poor attempts at Portuguese. There are 3 cafe/bars in the village. One is only 100m away and is also very friendly and unbelievably cheap. Surrounding countryside is ideal for walking. Filipe (owner) and his sister Liliana could not have been more pleasant and helpful. All in all, a real gem.

The house is located in Vilar de Mouros, Caminha. This beautiful rural town has a lot of interesting places such as the roman bridge and picnic area by the river, 'azenhas', old churches and beautiful mountain views. A few minutes by car is Caminha which is a historic market town with medieval walls, cobbled streets, bars, cafes and restaurants. Vila Nova de Cerveira is 15 min away and is a very nice village; internationally know by the bienal arts exposition, the historic centre and wonderful outdoor Saturday market. Valença which is a historic market town with impressive medieval walls is 20 min away. Viana do Castelo (15 min) and Ponte de Lima (30 min) is the largest local towns and both offer historical interest. Porto and Santiago de Compostela are 1 hour away by motorway. The beautiful Minho River (nautical sports) and the coast which has miles of beaches with golden sand are 5-10 minutes away. On the other side of the river is Spain with a whole different culture to explore.

Golf: One of the best 18 hole golf courses in North Portugal is about 30 min away in Ponte De Lima.

The children love this 'dorm' were then can also play games when they are not splashing in the pool or running in the large gardens. All 3 bedrooms are located in the first floor with large windows and balconies.
