About the property

Waikoloa Hale has all the amenities of home plus ocean and mountain views. The master bedroom has a huge attached bathroom with a soaking tub and separate shower. The guest bedroom has it's own full size bathroom. Both bedrooms have queen size beds and ceiling fans. Special attention has been given to the spa style linens and luxurious bedding.

The fully equipped kitchen opens to a spacious great room and dining room.

The office through the French Doors has a sofa bed that can sleep one.

All the floors are either hardwood, bamboo or tile, no carpeting.

There is a covered lanai with a gas BBQ overlooking a tranquil and private yard and water feature.

For your convenience, there is a utility room with a washer and dryer.

The Waikoloa Village Shopping Center is a short 5 minute drive away. There you find a modern food market, restaurants and a variety of shops and services.

While we are only 20 miles to the Kona Airport and 20 minutes to Hapuna and other spectacular Kohala Coast Beaches, we are situated just high enough to enjoy regular cool mountain breezes.

Beyond the beaches, Hawaii offers a host of outdoor activities and sightseeing opportunities. Head to Waimea and visit the many shops and galleries.

Enjoy a day trip to the Volcano National Park. A memorable drive to Hilo along the Hamakua Coast offers breathtaking views of historic Waipio Valley. This area is also home to Akaka Falls, one of Hawaii's most famous. You'll see deep water-carved gulches and valleys, thick with tropical foliage. Stop and tour gardens full of exotic plants and orchids.

For adventure of a higher nature, the 13,700 foot summit of Mauna Kea provides dramatic scenery and an unforgettable visitor experience. The W. M. Keck Observatory provides a visitor’s gallery with exhibits describing astronomy research and star gazing.

There's no better way to experience the amazing cultural diversity of Hawaii Island than to visit one of the farmers’ markets that take place all arround the island. You’ll find fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables used in Hawaii Regional Cuisine, exotic varieties that are as intriguing as they are tasty plus an eclectic collection of prepared foods. The market is also a great place to pick up handmade artwork or a unique gift and strike up a conversation with the artist who made them.

Your stay in our Waikoloa Hale includes use of two pools, tennis courts and discounted green fees.

Waikoloa House

I very rarely write reviews but in this case I just felt I must. My two children and I were in the process of moving from Texas to the Big Island so as you can imagine it was stressful, a lot of work and impossible to find permanent housing until we arrived. Matthew, the owner and Lynette, his sister were so helpful in suggesting this home for us after we were inquiring about another home owned by Matthew. It was absolutely perfect for our family. Close to all the many beauties of the Big Island. You can go up to Waimea, down to Kona and up to Hawi all within a quick drive. The living area, kitchen and dining room is open and is a large space which made it feel so roomy for us. The home is nicely furnished and has all the things you need to cook a meal and go to the beach for the day. Matthew even brought us fresh eggs from his organic farm during our stay! Anything we needed they assisted with very quickly. We ended up finding our permanent home not too far away because we loved this area and location. I highly recommend this lovely home to anyone and everyone!!

We had a good feeling about Waikoloa House for you and your family and are very happy that it worked out so well as far as location, size and amenities for the 2 months that you were here. The Village is a great Island location and we're glad that you are able to remain in this area in your long term rental. Aloha and Mahalo, Matthew, Owner Lynette, Assistant

Clean, roomy master bedroom and bathroom was very nice. large kitchen but lacked quality utensils and quality pots and pans. knives were dull. Guest bedroom was very small. Nice patio area with pretty fountain. Full size washer and dryer was a nice surprise. Check out time @10AM is a bit early. Clubhouse pool was very shabby. Location was very nice and close to shopping and beaches.

Owner's Response: June 24, 2015 Aloha Brian, We're glad you found Waikoloa House clean and roomy. The guest bedroom has a queen size bed and is situated with a den area between it and the master which allows for privacy between bedrooms and bathrooms. I apologize for the dull seems someone was really fond of the sharpening steel that is provided. The knives had been replaced even before your review and I would have brought some new ones over if you had called and requested them. It's one of the reasons that we now have a 10:00 am check out time. Waikoloa is a very large house and our cleaning service needs a full 5 hours to have it immaculate for the next guest, replace broken items, stained towels and linens and tidy up the outdoor area. During this cleaning and maintenance the staff discovered they could not sharpen knives and so alerted me to the problem which I immediately remedied. My assistant mentioned you called and requested a later check out time which she was not able to extend. She did check your original reservation that was made in June of 2014 and told you she would honor the 11:00 am check out time we had in the past. Regarding the community pool, I have forwarded your review to the homeowners board and have requested a response. We want to be sure all the amenities are in good condition for our guests. This is the first time I have had a complaint about the pool. You mentioned the great location to the beaches....I suspect that is where most of our guests go.....They are the best in Hawaii and only minutes away. Mahalo, Matthew Aloha Brian, The den has been turned into a third bedroom with queen size bed, the knives are sharp and I went to the community center yesterday. The pool looks great and there is some new furniture for guests to relax on. The beautiful beaches are still just minutes away and I hope you will return sometime and enjoy our spacious Waikoloa House. Mahalo Matthew

House is how they explained it in pictures and it was in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. Easy to find and located near shopping center. Very nice master bedroom and bathroom with enclosed lanai to read. Kitchen nice and big. It was perfect for our work crew to have a place near by our jobsite.

Owner's Response: Aloha, We're happy that your work crew was comfortable in The Waikoloa House. It is a large home...perfect for 4 big guys, 2 couples or a family. The big open kitchen and dining area has lots of space for everyone to gather and reminisce about their day and plan the next adventure. Thank you again for allowing us to be your hosts. We would welcome you back anytime. Mahalo, Matthew and Rose

A very clean, quiet and spacious rental - plus these folks went the extra mile when one of our party needed help with local doctors. We highly recommend this fine home and hope to stay there again. Big Island aloha at its best!

Bright and Airy Hawaiian Home

  • 4 of 5

We spent 3 weeks in this home and really enjoyed the spacious open concept. The large kitchen and Master Bath were our favorite features. It was a great taste of what living in Hawaii might be like as it is located in a neighborhood and not in a resort area. However it was still close to the things we like: golf, beaches, restaurants and sight seeing. Prospective guests should be aware that this home does not have a large lanai or outdoor space with expansive views, but it is still a great value and perfect for one couple or a family. You should also know that this is not a single family home, it has a downstairs apartment and a shared laundry room. This was not a problem for us as we rarely heard any noise from downstairs. We would definitely consider renting this property again, the owners were very helpful and the home over all was very comfortable.

Owner's Response: Aloha Happy Guests, So pleased you enjoyed your 3 weeks at Waikoloa House and the large (1700sf) open floor plan. It's always been a favorite of our guests. Yes, there is a small O'hana apartment on the lower level of this large two story home, but it is a single family structure in a quiet neighborhood and not an apartment or condo complex. This space is also a vacation rental and when occupied it is limited to 2 guests. This small space has it's own private yard and it's own designated parking area both on the opposite side of the parking and yard of the larger Waikoloa House. We have had numerous guests that have enjoyed renting both spaces to accommodate a larger family or group of friends. The laundry room is shared but I believe there is ample time for everyone to do their laundry on alternate days. The lanai of Waikoloa House offers a gas BBQ grill and outdoor seating. The private backyard is beautifully landscaped and has a calming water feature. Thank you for being our guests at Waikoloa House. We are happy to hear that you would consider coming back on a future visit to Hawaii Island. Mahalo, Matthew
