This is a highly unusual, very spacious studio apartment (28Mc/ 300 sq ft) with large floor-to-ceiling windows. Very sunny, full of light and energy, overlooking a long Park stretching to La Bastille. Perfect for 2 people, or a couple with one child.
It consists of entry area, large kitchen opening onto a large living room, plus modern bathroom with enclosed shower. All spaces have large windows. It has been totally refurbished and repainted (October 2012), and beautifully decorated. Everything is top quality and in excellent condition. It is fully equipped including : hair dryer, iron, TV (CNN, BBC, etc), high speed WIFI/ internet, phone (free calls to US).
The kitchen is a joy to cook in. It is equipped with all appliances : refrigerator/freezer, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and of course all necessary cooking and eating utensils. There is a dining table set up against large windows so you can take your morning coffee and meals gazing out onto the Park.
In the living room, there is a very comfortable red leather “Roche Bobois” couch/pull out bed (converts into a queen bed 160x200) and armchair, plus desk and coffee and side tables. Sheets/towels are new and top quality/high thread count.
The flat is located in a residential area 2 blocks from the Marais/Place des Vosges, full of local cafes and restaurants. It is a 3 minute walk to La Bastille and Opera Bastille, very convenient to the Louvre (5 metro stops), Musée Picasso (15 minute walk), Centre Pompidou (20 minute walk). Plus, at La Bastille you will find 3 metro lines (#1, #5, #8) assuring easy connections throughout Paris.
As a bonus, every Thursday and Sunday there is a large open air food market a few steps away from the flat. This market is one of the best and most popular in Paris. Perfect for food shopping and people watching. It is a ‘foodies’ heaven!
This flat is the perfect Parisian 'pied à terre', an excellent base from which to explore and to enjoy this amazing city that we love so much.
Attention : This is a non-smoking flat.
My husband and I love this apartment for the location and the light and airy feel. It is a comfortable home away from home when we visit our favorite city Paris. Everything was easy about the rental from the initial contact with Philippe to the final close of the door on our way to the airport to return home. We hope to be able to stay here again on our next visit.
I used this apt for 6 nights without any regrets. The street market, directly in front of the windows, was a huge plus for fresh cheese, breads, fruits, etc. The metro is very close and made sightseeing easy. It is a basic unit with wifi and a simple kitchen area. The manager was available and helpful as needed. Small bathroom but very typical for European flats. Lots of nightlife nearby to either enjoy or pass on. Would recommend this VRBO to others, and I would use it again for another visit to this wonderful city
I enjoyed my eight night stay at this spacious apartment very, very much. I felt very safe. At first I did not know what to think about the immediate neighborhood as a block away, there are many cafes and bars that young people are flocking to at night. At age 60, that life no longer appeals to me. But the activity is just over a few blocks and I did not find the area around the apartment to be too loud at all. During the day, there is the convenience of a little post office, and ATMs, and a Monoprix and many other amenities. Walking the opposite direction (West) is the Blvd Richard Lenoir, which the apartment overlooks, and lovely destinations, such as Place des Vosges, only a six minute walk! The Breguet Sabin metro entrance is right across from the apartment, or walk a block and a half to the larger Bastille station. The vibrant Marche Bastille takes place on Thursday and Sunday, with a little gathering of artists on Saturday. Three restaurants that I enjoyed were: Chez Paul, 13 Rue de Charonne, Le Temps Des Cerises, 31 Rue de la Cerisaie, and Au Bouquet Saint Paul, 85 Rue Saint-Antoine. Loved the chocolate at Maison Georges Larnicol, 14 Rue de Rivoli. Too many restaurants and so little time! Unfortunately my visit was too early in the year to enjoy the beauty of the trees and flowers in bloom. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the fold out bed, which is nice and wide, could use a thicker mattress. However, at this price, no complaints!!
We had a fabulous stay at this lovely flat! The accommodations and location are perfect for comfort and ease. There are numerous restaurants a block away but it was also fun to gather items for an in room picnic at our "home away from home. The close proximity to the Bastille metro makes for easy travel for sightseeing and getting back to the airport. Philippe, the manager, was fabulous! Very helpful with our questions! My daughter and I would definitely stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming, centrally-located gem. I lived in Paris for years and continue to visit each year, and this is one of my best apartments I've rented. It's beautifully appointed, close to restaurants, cafes, metro, and just minutes from the heart of the Marais. And the host was very communicative and helpful. Planning to book again for next year.
I travel to Paris often for work and so pleased that I discovered this gem in the Bastille! It's in my favorite neighborhood - windows face the Bastille market (where I got eggs, fruit and cheese), super close to the Metro where there are many lines, a great boulangerie down the block and many restaurant options. The apartment - with entrance tucked in a courtyard - is modern and comfortable, full of natural light, clean and well appointed (the kitchen was well stocked with olive oil, teas, pasta, etc. as well as plates, pots and cutlery). Other reviewers had trouble with street noise, but I kept the windows open at night and slept peacefully - I did hear faint music from a jazz club, but it wasn't loud and thumping. The only downside is no lift, but there aren't that many stairs up to the apartment. Philippe is a good communicator, very helpful and a good manager. I will definitely go back! (They deserve great reviews, but selfishly I hope this gem will stay just a bit undiscovered...)
