I was born in Europe and grew up in New York City. Now I am a musician and a professor in Boston.
Ivan purchased this house in 2008
My oceanfront, artsy one bedroom house on 2 levels is a true hideaway. It's located completely off the street, only 12 miles from Boston. Enjoy the views, chef's kitchen, the outdoor spa and indoor Jacuzzi, fireplace and more. The house is comfortable, secluded and romantic; perfect for a couple seeking a quiet, private retreat.
Ocean views from every window!
Thank you Ivan! It was our first Christmas away from family - had a splendid time. Loved the big kitchen, beautiful decks, hot tub, jacuzzi, and of course the phenomenal views. What a relaxing, refreshing and romantic Christmas.
Happy New Year!
My wife and I have the life rhythm of taking a few days in January to reconnect, relax, and talk about the coming year. Oftentimes, we do this local to our home in Greater Boston. This property looked like it had great potential. And... it was just what we needed.
Whirlpool Tub in the Bathroom (unexpected)
WiFi - I needed to do a little work.
Responsive owner - when I had a very minor issue, he responded ASAP.
Kitchen supplied adequately so we didn't have to run out.
When the owner discovered that my wife had left a small item behind, he made arrangements to have it returned to us.
OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE:
There are some areas that could use some attention arouind the property (deck; clutter) but it didn't deter from our enjoyment
Hot tub was slow to heat up, had trouble holding it's temperature, and really needed more water. None of this stopped our enjoying it but it could be a greater strength of the experience.
All-in-All... a very pleasant experience... we would and will return again.
Incredible time with wife. Great place for a quick getaway.
The property is hidden so very cozy and private. The house itself is big and very accommodating with a large hot tub for two in the bathroom and a private jacuzzi outside perfect for stargazing at night. The working fireplace definitely makes everything more romantic. The dining room and the breakfast nook are just perfect, the kitchen has brand new appliances and everything you need to spend your vacation there. Loved my stay and I'll be sure to come back and also tell my friends and family to book their stay too.
We spent a weekend in Swampscott when we attended a friend's wedding, and we didn't want the limited quarters of a B&B or Inn. We are so glad that we found this home! The online pictures are quite accurate. From the minute we entered, this cottage felt so comfortable. Ivan is a hospitable host - fruit and muffins on the counter for breakfast, a huge collection of CDs at our disposal, and lots of throws and pillows in the bedroom and living room. The view from both floors is breathtaking! We experienced glorious sunsets. There is a cozy window bench in the bedroom, great for reading and watching those sunsets. Many nice restaurants are within close walking distance. We honestly could not be happier with our decision to rent this home. We hope to return in the summer and enjoy the decks that extend around the house on both floors and the outdoor hot tub.
Very comfortable and homey stay. Perfect location for traveling north or visiting Boston. All the amenities you could ask for. Warm and cozy with terrific views. We will return!
A little slice of heaven with this cute single bedroom home, tucked away in the sleepy town of Swampscott. All the amenities you need to include a hot tub for relaxing with beautiful views of the harbor/ocean and Boston Skyline. Both decks allow you out of this world views, with ocean waves to lull you to sleep. I can only imagine in the summer when you can have the doors open how calming that sounds. Eateries, shopping, and the beach are within walking distance. Many mornings we had coffee on the deck taking in the breathtaking views. Swampscott is full of friendly people which gives that small town vibe. Mission on the Bay is an excellent restaurant with an energetic atmosphere, scenic ocean views and the clam chowder will not disappoint. Lincoln's Landing is a must for fantastic home cooked comfort foods with ample portions, a creative menu and out of this world presentation. Salem is just a quick drive for some amazing history, quaint shops and fun atmosphere, while Boston is a short drive away. Location, Location, Location, this is the place! This was the perfect way to spend our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Our only suggestion would be to perhaps put a mattress topper to allow the bed for a softer comfort and firmer pillows with cases. Thank you for opening up your home to us.
