This was a family home for 30 yrs, chosen by my mother, Dorothy. Though she's gone now, the many years we enjoyed visiting this home have great memories. We hope that by sharing this unique home and nice location with others, you might develop similar fond memories of Cannon Beach and the time spent in this home.

About Karl Hadley
Hi, we are Karl & Kelly, co-owners of The Dorothy Lou. We are native Washingtonians & we enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, boating, good music and good food often shared with family or friends. We're experienced property managers, having operated a Hood River VRBO vacation home for 20 years. We bring those skills and customer service to this home in Cannon Beach, OR.
Karl Hadley purchased this House in 2012
Why Karl Hadley chose Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach is a long time favorite destination of ours, and Karl's mother, Dorothy, purchased this home in 1980 when her mother died. On Dorothy's passing in 2013, we just couldn't sell the home, so we decided to buy it, and did an extensive remodel in 2016. To honor my mother's memory and her affection for Cannon Beach, we've named the home after her.
What makes this House unique
It is just a short 2 minute walk to the beach, and situated away from the more crowded area of Cannon Beach proper. Haystack is in sight & just a 10 minute stroll away. You'll also enjoy quick access to Highway 101 if you want to explore towns to the south, like Manzanita, Nehalem, and Tillamook, or beaches like Snug Point, or Oswald State Park. To the North is Seaside, Gearhart and Astoria, with great history of the Lewis and Clark Trail, Maritime museums, great golf courses, restaurants and breweries.

Excellent home for our large family gathering.
This was a well maintained home with all the amenities and options to feel at home. Being only steps from the beach, coffee shop, and pub really made this stay excellent. The home has been modernized and was really pleasant for us.
Lovely home with loads of space for us (parents with 3 teens)
We had a wonderful vacation in Cannon Beach, the house was perfect, comfortable and nicely done, with great beach access.
Great home, good location
Stayed in this property 9 nights with six adults and two children for annual family beach trip. It's large and well furnished. Great, well stocked kitchen. Lots of games, 3 tvs, and beach toys/chairs in a sturdy wagon. Very clean. Close to the beach, good food market, coffee shop and bakery. Quiet neighborhood. Owner responded promptly to emails We recommend this without hesitation.
A very roomy, well-kept, clean, close to the beach property, for a beautiful stay at Cannon Beach!
Our Family Group of 8 recently spent a week at the Dorothy Lou Family Home!
We loved our stay in the Home! There was plenty of room for all of us, and we found the
Home very clean, and comfortable. The Kitchen very well stocked with cooking pots and
pans, utensils, dishes, and needed items to enjoy many meals there. The Home was
within walking distance to the Beach, and beautiful views of sunsets and Haystack Rock
as we sat around the campfire at night! We would recommend this Home to anyone!
Wonderful Family Friendly house close to beach
We loved the Dorothy Lou house. There was plenty of space to spread out on the 3 different levels. The kitchen was so well stocked we wish we had time to cook. The bathrooms are beautifully renovated. We loved that there was a wagon that we could haul firewood and chairs to the beach each night for a camp fire. Thanks again for sharing your home with us!
Wonderful get away....
Very nice home...we will be back. Just a short walk to the beach.
Cannon Beach is a favorite Oregon Coast beach, well known for spectacular scenery, and a welcoming town with interesting shopping. The beach has miles of sand, welcoming the contemplative stroller and serious runner alike. Rent beach trikes for faster exploration and excitement. The beach is a great playground for kite enthusiasts and Frisbee/football throwers. It is a romantic and magical place that draws couples wanting to reconnect, and families looking for a destination with enough interest for all members. Haystack Rock is a well-recognized monolith, home to many Puffins. At low tide, witness sea anemones and starfish which live in tide pools at the base of Haystack Rock. Often, park rangers or other volunteers are present to educate about this ecosystem. Cannon Beach is well know by 'foodies' who come to the beach to enjoy the numerous options for excellent cuisine. Bill's Tavern and Brew House creates some fine beers-take some home in a growler, or enjoy a meal and beer in the brew house. Numerous nearby parks including Ecola, Indian Creek, Hug Point offer great exploring and sight-seeing opportunities. Nearby Seaside has a fun pinball arcade, bumper cars and an older, but very interesting aquarium, with seals that will splash water on you if you don't feed them quickly enough. Nearby towns of Manzanita, Nehalem and Tillamook have more shops, restaurants, unique, scenic beaches, and even a cheese factory offering tours. There is no end to the relaxed exploration and beauty of this destination. Come see for yourself!
