What a cozy retreat!
Enjoy a stroll along the ZigZag River, romp in the woody neighborhood or take a moment to relax next to the warming fireplace. For the adventurous, your options are endless. A short distance from the cabin you can hit the slopes, hike, mountain bike or enjoy a nice slice of pizza at the ZigZag Restaurant.
This 1920's era vacation rental home is set quietly among the cedars. The yard is fenced allowing your dog freedom while you are inside making a meal in the cooks kitchen. On the main floor of this cabin you will find an open living room that has a fireplace and a propane stove giving you optimal heat. The kitchen, dining space, bathroom and two bedrooms are also on the main level. Both bedrooms have queen beds and space to tuck away your luggage.
This charming vacation rental home has two modest televisions. You can kick back while watching your favorite show or select a movie out of the home's movie cabinet. On the upper level loft you will find a sitting area. A perfect place for the kids to play a game, color a picture and watch a movie. There is an open walkway that leads to another bedroom where you'll find a twin bed as well as a queen bed.
Whether you stay in or go on an outing, this is a perfect place to call home on your vacation.
This house was enjoyed by all. It has so much character, and lent itself perfectly to our needs. Well equipped and comfortable (beds were comfortable with plenty of extra blankets on chilly days and nights too), I would recommend this spot to anyone and everyone. I'm even thinking of bringing my family back during the summer, I enjoyed it so much!

We recently stayed at the Old Smoky cabin in Rhododendrons. It is close to all the fun activities on Mt. Hood and a decent price. Had a rustic feel, kids loved the upstairs loft area. We will rent again next year
There was a lot of love out into every nook and cranny of this place! It looks like it was decorated by a professional and I loved the floor to ceiling windows! You could see the beautiful trees and river from upstairs and down! They need to make sure in the winter that the heater is turned on 12 hours before tenants arrive b/c we were all so cold in our jackets and gloves until the next morning. We had the fire going and all heaters and it took that long! I was so tensed up from shivering for so long I woke up with a tense neck and back the next morning which made it so I couldn't participate in the sledding or snowshoeing; the weekend is over and my neck is still in pain. I tried to take a hot bath to help but the water heater isn't big enough to support filling the bathtub up enough. It's a huge bathtub which would be so cool to take a bath in if the water heater would support it. Also they stated that the pullout couch would fit 2, maybe 2 kids but not a adult and a kid. It's a little bigger than a twin but not by much. No dishwasher. Make sure you bring your own fire wood from home. If you wait to buy it at the local store it costed us $20 and all that fire wood only lasted 1 day. We relied on the fireplace for warmth since 2 of the cadet heaters didn't work. There was only one heater up stairs and one downstairs. Overall it was a beautiful place and we had a blast. They just need to tweak it a little to be perfect.
Several articles of furniture were broken and potentially dangerous: the kitchen table was nearly falling apart; one kitchen chair was broken so the seat fell off every time someone sat on it; and the cabinets in the living room were leaning/falling and the doors were loose and swinging open. The third stair was broken and the carpet was loose/falling off. This caused one of my guests to fall down the stairs and get a huge bruise. The dishwasher did not work – it does not connect to the sink like it is supposed to. We had 8 people here for 3 days and it was a huge pain to hand wash everything when we had been told that we would be able to use a dishwasher.
I am very glad my guests did not bring their 3-year old son because this place was not child proof at all. The heaters are dangerously hot and there are cords/wires dangling all over the living room walls.
The place was VERY dusty and there were cobwebs all over. Carpet didn't look like it had been vacuumed either. There was no vacuum on site that we could find, so we had to just deal with it. There was also a significant amount of mold on the bathroom walls that one of my guests was allergic to. I realize this place is dog-friendly, but someone with dust or mold allergies should not stay here either.
The cabin was in a great location and the neighborhood was lovely. I would recommend a smaller group than 8, we were definitely at maximum capacity. Also recommend bringing firewood, tupperware containers, and your own toilet paper. The cabin had almost everything else we needed.
Our visit to the Old Smokey Cabin in Rhododendron was AMAZING and will certainly become an annual tradition for us (if not more frequently!). We loved the cabin, the surrounding area to hike in, friendly neighbors and the feeling of solitude only 40 minutes away from the hustle of the city. If you're looking for a family friendly, cozy get away - this is your place!
What a nice little spot for relaxing on the weekend! Loved the classic cabin feel and was happy to find a great assortment of kitchen utensils. We stayed nice and warm and were super close to some favorite hikes!
We went to the cabin for a ladies getaway before my wedding and had a lovely time! This is a true cabin experience and we really enjoyed it! Gorgeous place, very cozy!
