Stylish, comfortable and very peaceful apartment in a beautifully restored, elegant 19th century building - right in the centre of historic Krakow. Situated on a quiet street (Batorego), with a balcony overlooking large private gardens. Safe residential neighbourhood, but only 5 minutes walk from the city's famous Market Square with all its cafes, restaurants and night life. The building has been lovingly restored to a very high standard, with its stunning 19th century stained glass wooden stairwell, it remains in keeping with the period - a mixture of modern design with a touch of classic charm. Its unusually spacious, light and high-ceilinged rooms have parquet flooring and old ceramic stoves. It's our first home in Poland, designed to be functional and comfortable - and is a fully multi-media apartment. This means that wireless is offered free throughout, with our 42" screen offering not just a wide range of international satellite channels, but also all internet channels, and free connectivity to your own devices as well. We have a fully equipped kitchen, central heating, big bathroom and period art deco furniture. Close to a range of local shops and restaurants. And a special treat, a great range of pastries and delicious coffee served very cheap from a little cake shop directly outside our front door.
Why you'd want to stay here? It's a perfect base from which to explore the charm and romance of this fantastic city. Just five minutes walk from the city's central square, the apartment is likewise within ten minutes' walk of most of Krakow's finest restaurants (we can send guests our personal recommendations). We are positioned in a charming 19th century residential street, just beyond the bustle of the centre but still close enough to make everywhere walkable - for instance the city's famous castle and former Royal Palace, Wawel, is just ten minutes away, and just beyond it lies Kazimierz, the famous former Jewish district where Stephen Spielberg filmed parts of 'Schindler's List'. All of the city's other galleries and main monuments are equally close, as well as the bus and rail station. For those wishing to visit the other World Heritage Sites at Auschwitz and the Wieliczka Salt Mines can get there within an hour by taxi.
Anna and Ed are two journalists, who work for the BBC in London.
Ed and Anna Butler purchased this apartment in 2007
It's Anna's way of staying in touch with her Polish roots, and our families' way of visiting one of the most beautiful and atmospheric cities in Europe.
Peace, tranquility and real character within easy striking distance of all the cities' finest attractions.
Just to say a big 'Thank You' for letting us your fantastic apartment. We couldn't believe how great the location was! And just how beautiful Krakow is. All arrangements went very smoothly - it was lovely to be met at the airport. We had a fantastic time, thank you again!
5 adults (a single female, a younger male & female couple and a retired mature gent with his retired lady wife) spent 4 nights & 5 days in this warm, comfortable, stylish, safe, fully equipped & easy to find, historic yet respectively modern, just lovely, Krakow apartment!
The shower is a pleasure, one of the best I've been under! The very soft water adds to this wonderful revitalising experience! Amazing high ceilings & an experience with the way you enter the building, through the gorgeous gate and up along those stairs! Observe the historic wooden dentist chair; should be in a museum!
What a brilliant location! A very short walk to the gorgeous city's main square, Rynek Glowny. But the gorgeous intriguing sites, smells, friendly people, amazing shops, yummy food & drink don't begin there, but literally from the moment you leave your apartment with the coffee shop situated right next door!
But, it did take a little longer to walk to the Rynek than advised, as you just can't help yourself & pop into these shops, photograph and walk into one of the many beautifully historical churches, stop for just that one more coffee or my favourite, black tea with a slice of fresh lemon (really does work and tastes refreshingly good) & go on then, one of those MASSIVE freshly baked doughnuts with rose petal jam filling, hmmm, yummy yum yum!
Don't worry about your teeth though, there's a dentist located directly below the apartment and with all the walking you'll do, you'll burn off more than you consume, I hope I did anyway!
The taxi the owners organised from the airport was seamless and the best way! The driver was very friendly and chatty in good English plus informative about Krakow, it's history and current state!
We visited Auschwitz and Birkenau with the same taxi company, without booking on to a tour, again the best way, as you'll see & read more! Entrance is free BUT make a donation on your way out, we did at Birkenau and buy a guidebook! It's a little out of the way, so the taxi made it comfortably convenient door to door, as a whole day is needed and it's most certainly an emotionally draining but important experience and must-do visit!
Also visited Schindler's Factory & the amazing awe inspiring salt mines by train from the nearby ultra modern station with more shops & food places than I've seen in the UK under one roof! Plus of course happily got lost (hard to do) around the Jewish quarter & Krakow's gorgeous city streets!
four of us stayed in this apartment for 4 days in January, and have to say it was even better than we hoped. All the rooms were large, especially the bedrooms. The kitchen had all the mod cons you would need , and the bathroom was perfect as well. The apartment was very warm, in fact we had to turn off most of the radiators. The location was perfect, with supermarkets, cafes and bars all within easy reach. And best of all, the beautiful Market square is only five minutes away.
From contacting Ed and Anna to make the booking and arriving at the apartment Excellent. (Taxi from the airport and return journey organised by Ed when booking)
Andrew the local agent was waiting for us at the apartment and told us everything we needed to know for our stay.
The apartment was very clean and everything was as described. We would recommend staying here if available.
On our next visit to Krakow we will hopefully be able to book this apartment again.
We stayed here as a family of 7 and the apartment was very well suited to all of our needs. The rooms are very big and the sleeping arrangements worked out very well. It is very clean and comfortable with a large bathroom. Ed and Anna arranged for a taxi pick up at the airport and it worked out great! It took about 15 minutes to walk to the Market square, but we enjoyed stopping at the bakeries, churches, and ice cream stores along the way! We hope to return soon!
Just back from a long weekend in Krakow and it most certainly was not long enough, a truly charming city.
The apartment is absolutely perfect, very spacious, with all that you would need for a relaxing holiday. The location couldn't have been better as it is a short walk to the Town Centre, but in a nice quiet area itself, the best of both worlds.
The booking process couldn't have been easier and Ed - owner - kept us informed throughout.
Andrew - his local representative - was on site at the apartment to welcome us and run through all we needed to know. He also gave us some of his own personal recommendations and tips.
Can't wait to return.
Loved our time in Krakow and can't wait to come back. The apartment was a great base and the airport transports that were arranged for us were seamless without any problems. Would recommend the apartment to anyone it is ideally located very clean, has everything in it that you would need and is well priced. A mixed group of us stayed there for a long 40th weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks again for renting us your family home in krakow
Our apartment is on the first floor of a beautifully restored, elegant 19th century building - right in the centre of historic Krakow. It is situated on a quiet street (Ul. Batorego), and has its own balcony overlooking large private gardens. And whilst this is an an unusually undisturbed part of the Old Town, it's still only 5 minutes walk from the city's famous Market Square with all its cafes, restaurants and night life. The area is full of shops and restaurants, where you can buy all your groceries and have a bite for lunch. There's a great cake and coffee shop directly outside our front door, and a 24-hour deli called Oczko at the end of Batorego Street (turn left when you leave the apartment). And if you need a bank, there's one 3 minutes away - turn right and right again into Lobzowska Street, you'll find it there. And if you decide to travel around the city by tram, there's a stop just at the end of our street on Karmelicka Street. Wawel Castle is about 20 minutes walk through the Market square and the Jewish district a 5 min ride in a cab.
Other Activities: the two regional World Heritage Sites at Auschwitz Concentration Camp Museum, and the ancient Wielicka Salt Mines - both within an hour or so's drive of the city.
