We love the Kutzke Neighborhood and older homes - this is our second home here. My wife worked at Mayo Clinic for 38 years and living this close eliminated the need to contend with parking as she could easily walk to work. I worked for Augsburg College in Rochester and could bike to work which I much enjoyed after years of commuting. purchased this house in 2005

Why chose Rochester

We lived in various outlying neighborhoods in Rochester for many years - neighborhood home, acreage and a townhome. We always enjoyed Rochester but we always drove to get downtown and to work. In 2002 we moved to a house in Kutzke and enjoyed the people we met and the older homes. In 2005 we purchased our second home in Kutzke and still enjoy our time here.

What makes this house unique

The woodwork, floors, layout and vintage windows first drew us in. We loved having the master bedroom on the main floor, which is uncommon for 1920's homes. The proximity to bike trails, Mayo facilities and downtown sealed the deal.

Beautiful, comfortable and inviting house

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this property a number of times when working in Rochester. Wayne could not be more accommodating and helpful! The house is tastefully decorated with leather couches, beautiful art and a fireplace, while being very comfortable. The second floor is like an small apartment with a sectional couch, television, eating table, bathroom, dressing room and double bed. Access to this space is by a rather steep set of stairs so would not be recommended for those who are not comfortable with steps. However for those who are- it is a beautiful retreat that has much privacy. SImilarly the basement has it's own couch and television and eating area and double bed. There is also room for a portable mattress in this space. The laundry is on this level. On the main floor is a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and 2 lovely bedrooms. We have stayed there in different seasons but when it is cold, there are separate heating units for the 2nd floor and the basement that warm the spaces very quickly. Six of us stayed there this time and the house's layout works for everyone to have their own space as well as common space. A wonderful stay again! We highly recommend it. Thank you, Wayne for being a great host.

Perfection in every way

  • 5 of 5

My two sisters and I just completed a second trip to Rochester, and a second 5-day stay at this cozy, comfortable, astonishingly well-equipped home. If I lived in Rochester, I would live here. We love this house, and Wayne, the owner, is the perfect host. He is responsive, accessible, and kind. This home is in the neighborhood we grew up in, an old part of Rochester full of character, charm, convenience, and old-time neighborhood feeling. Stay here! You will be so glad you did!

Wayne was awesome and so is this home.

Wayne, Thank you so much for sharing your home. We were there for over a month while my mom had a stem cell transplant.

Your home was clean and comfortable and the location is perfect with the clinic within 10 minutes. We enjoyed exploring the neighborhood and walking trails.

I highly recommend this property.

You will enjoy.

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family loved our recent stay here while in Rochester for my high school reunion. The house is very cozy and easy to split up for privacy. My parents had the whole upstairs with everything they needed while my wife and two small kids used the main floor/basement. Waaaaay better then dealing with a hotel.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We grew up in Rochester and Viola so we stayed here while visiting friends and family. The house was very comfortable, clean and furnished with everything we needed for our stay. Neighborhood was very quiet even though we were very close to downtown, stores and restaurants. Nice surprise for us was the creek just a block away with several hiking/biking paths. The owners were very nice and easy to work with. We hope to stay here again and would definitely recommend the cozy bungalow to anyone.

RockStar Place

Wayne's place was just awesome for us. I had a Kidney transplant and the donor was my sister. So our families used Wayne's house during the surgery and we both recovered at it. It was exceptionally clean and very charming. It was also extremely close to Mayo. He also had Direct TV along with a DVD player. We used both throughout our recovery. Wayne was wonderful to work with and went out of his way to help us with our accommodations. I would recommend this place to anyone.
