Welcome to Casa-Galleria Sedona Vacation Rental ~ where the views on the walls inside the home are as impressive as the sweeping panoramic outside views through the large walls of glass.
Come be our guest, in the home we built for ourselves and are now thrilled to share with you ~ designed by your host, professional landscape and architectural photographer Ian Whitehead, whose beautiful photographs grace the interior walls, perfectly illuminated by proper high-quality gallery lighting.
“The views and house were absolutely amazing. Your house was perfectly furnished. All you need are your clothes. The owner was quick to respond and very easy to work with. Would definitely stay here again.” - Lisa S.
Our luxury vacation rental is located in the Lower Red Rock Loop area of Sedona ~ around 5 miles out of town and 10 minutes from Safeway ~ in a colorful little neighborhood known as "Jackass Flats" by us locals. As the name implies, it's home to quite a few four-legged folk, such as our closest neighbors, horses "Cody" and "Mr Magoo". The Red Rock Loop is home to two well-known parks ~ Red Rock State Park, just a few miles down the road, and Crescent Moon Ranch / Red Rock Crossing ~ just a few miles farther.
Our community is surrounded on all 4 sides by the Coconino National Forest. If you're a Jeeper, there are miles of rough and tumble forest roads that zigzag throughout this rugged area that are sure to test your driving skills. If you're a hiker, you could walk out the door and within minutes, be on trails where you could hike all the way to Utah, if you had the time and inclination, that is. Us? We like to hike to the top of one of the closest peaks, Schuerman Mountain, to take in those amazing sweeping views of some of the rock formations Sedona is famous for ~ Cathedral Rock , Bell Rock, the Rabbit Ears and much, much more.
We built out here in the Loop because we like being "out of the loop" - just outside of the hustle and bustle. Where you are more likely to hear the whiz of Hot Air Balloons overhead in the early morning, than helicopters or biplanes. The wide open views of beautiful Bear Mountain, the Mogollon Rim, the sweeping forest lands ~ all the way to the twinkling lights of Jerome in the Mingus Mt foothills ~ fills one with wonder and joy.
If you’re an early riser, look for critters large and small that sometimes stroll across the property. We’ve seen deer, javelina, coyote, quail, rabbits, roadrunners and bobcats. Their larger cousin the cougar still eludes us, although has certainly been spotted in the surrounding area.
“You and Ian have a fabulous and spacious home in an extraordinary location (so close to the city, and yet far enough away to enjoy the seclusion) with all of the amenities we could ask for. AND that amazing photographic artwork, WOW!” - Michael, Canada
THE PROPERTY is within easy walking distance to several local National Forest System trails. You may notice our 4-legged horse neighbors 'Mr. Magoo' and 'Cody' as you pull into the driveway. The driveway has room for up to 2 vehicles. There is no parking allowed on the narrow roadway, and no RVs please.
THE VIEWS of beautiful Bear Mountain grace the northern skyline behind miles of open forest and starry night vistas. From the Sedona Suite on the west end of the home, one can see the twinkling lights of Jerome after twilight ~ an historic copper mining ghost town turned artist's colony nestled in the Mingus Mountain foothills.
Sedona has been designated an International Dark Sky City. When the moon is dim, you'll enjoy views of the milky way from the Hot Tub and patios. The starry night skies are a favorite of ours. From this hilltop perch, there is plenty of sky to be seen.
THE HOME: Built in 2007, the house is a Southwest Contemporary Style design. All the rooms and hallways are large and spacious. The front door opens to the foyer of the Great Room - the perfect place to get the gang all together for dinner and a movie after a fun-filled day of magical adventure that no other place on earth can equal.
The kitchen, TV lounge and dining nook open to each other and to the sweeping views of Bear Mountain, sky, and the natural juniper/pine forest lands through floor-to-ceiling walls of glass. The kitchen is stocked with the basics you'll need to get started. Dining for 8 is available via 6 chairs and a 2-seat bench, all sized to fit both the island counter top and the breakfast nook table for a casual yet elegant dining experience.
The den is a great place to sit and relax, read, or simply take in the views of the property, both north and south. Feel free to browse the bookshelves and drawers for local fare such as Spirit Cards, maps, games, puzzles, coloring materials and other items to keep you and yours entertained on a rainy day. Oh wait, this is Arizona where the sun usually shines! (ha). The den futon sofa is the 4th bed when needed.
“We cannot thank you enough for sharing your beautiful home with us. The views of the red rock mountains were spectacular, both inside and out. The hot tub is the perfect place to relax and unwind while watching the stars. And your location was perfect- far enough away from the city noise yet close to hiking trails and great dining and shopping areas. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer.” - Judy H.
The Inner Landscapes
Throughout the home hang the large format, archival quality photography of your host Ian Whitehead. Ian is known for his Landscape images of Sedona and the Southwest, from the majestic towers of Monument Valley to the mysterious twisted slot canyons of Northern Arizona and Utah. Each image is reproduced from the original film in a lab in Santa Barbara, CA and is a true original.
The key to the proper display of art is in the illumination. Ian's images are all spot lighted with gallery quality lighting with dimmers. The ambiance in the evenings with the lights dimmed just right is truly a magical experience!
Often times, while hanging out here watching the tube, I would find myself totally engaged in the incredible detail of the images that flank both sides of the TV console instead!
“I cannot say enough about this lovely home and it's owners.
Lisa was so wonderful to work with. The home is very well appointed and Ian's gorgeous gallery worthy art is in ever room. Spectacular!!” - Randall B.

“If you're looking for a relaxing, off the beaten path oasis that's still within 10 minutes of everything you'll want to visit, then Lisa and Ian's home is the perfect Sedona location. [...] It has beautiful views from the living areas and patio but -- surprise -- great southwest views indoors as well. [...] Beyond that, Lisa does a great job with making sure that everything -- from directions to access to availability for questions -- makes your stay relaxing and enjoyable. We had a great time and would happily make this our home base for any future trips to Sedona!” - Catherine G.
