What we intend to become our retirement home in a few years, our 1300 sq. ft. home is on the Anclote River between the Greek Sponge docks and the Gulf.
Grill fresh fish and set up dinner on the dock, then boat out to the keys. Play golf nearby, hike or bike the Pinellas Trail that slips through the center of old Tarpon Springs.
With 2 bedrooms, 4 beds, we are set up for a very comfortable relaxed vacation for 4, with a pull-out queen in the living room for the occasional visitor.
We have replaced all the appliances. Our HVAC is sterilized at the intake with a UV filter to keep the environment healthy even for sensitive souls, like us. A laundry room and garage keep things comfortable. The best place to spend time is on our dock with a floating platform, which allow easy access onto our kayaks.
We have two bicycles for your use, and a great Necky tandem kayak as well as a solo that give you intimate access off our dock to the river and bayous.
Scott is an airline pilot, Betsy an artist, who are happiest near the water. Life-long sailors who summered on sailboats in Maine, and a lake cottage in Southern Ontario, our home was inland in the Finger Lakes region of Western NY. We have recently moved to the Boston area, nearer to two grown children (and our grandchildren). Our 3 year old grandson loves fishing or lying on the dock to observe the dolphins hunting together, watch the crabs and lizards in the mangroves, or the eagle battle it out with the ospreys in aerial stunt flying.
Scott and Betsy Taylor purchased this house in 2009
After visiting the Tarpon Bayous and Anclote River and Key for years, friends found this sweet location and talked us into buying it to upgrade and share with them. Purchased from the family of the original home on 'Pioneer Point', we are in love with the setting and are continuing to improve the home. Because we use it as a second home it is outfitted as we need a home to be! The newest project is a dock rebuild with a ramp to a floating dock for kayak access. Shallow draft boats can tie up to the pilings.
Lovely, twisted live oaks frame the water view from the house, and the dock is a favorite spot to gather for watching birds, dolphins, the local fishing fleet and the sunset. Well around the bend in the road, it becomes a quiet, private neighborhood, safe from through-traffic, yet a fun bike ride or boat ride to the beaches. Kayak south to the Greek Sponge Docks for great food and entertainment, to the bayous, or north to Miss Vickie's to eat lunch on the water. Boat out the river to Anclote Key and Shark Island for serious beach and swim time.
When indoors, newly installed central Air super UV filtration system keeps the home allergen-free.
We had great time spending our Christmas vacation in Scott and Betsy's home. The house is well equipped (brand new high end appliances, high speed Wi Fi) and spacious enough for our party (3 adults and 1 teenager). The owners provided 2 kayaks (+ 2 bikes) which was great as the property is located on Anclote River and kayaking is a great way to explore the neighborhood and observe local wildlife. The dock is one of the best features of the house and we have caught several fish from it. The location is great, very close to white sand beaches of Howard Park where we went to jog/swim/fish almost every day. Sponge Docks with restaurants, shops, boat and fishing tours are only few minutes away. In summary, great place to stay and relax in a quiet, waterfront community.
Really enjoyed our stay at this waterfront home on the Anclote River. Quiet neighborhood, beautiful view, lots of wildlife on the river. Put the bicycles and kayaks to good use. We enjoyed Fred Howard Park by bicycle and kayaked to the gulf and to the sponge docks. Had a trio of dolphins swim by us while kayaking as close as five feet, checking us out. If you enjoy the water, like we do, you'll love this place.
Thank you for sharing your vacation home with us. We truly enjoyed our stay. Your place was very comfortable. We used the kayaks, biked to Fred Howard Park, took a boat trip to Anclote Island, and visited the sponge docks. The downtown historical district is a very nice place to visit, eat, and shop. We fished from your dock but no luck. We hope to return in the future.
This is our second stay at Scott and Betsy home. The home was well taken care of . We liked it because of the quietness of the area. Sitting on the dock just waiting for the dolphins to swim by. This year we visited St. Michaels Shrine which has an interesting story about it. Ate some good Greek food, but our favorite was Frenchys Outpost going out to Dunedin Beach. They have the best Grouper sandwiches. Would like to come back again.

My message to you was about our stay at your lovely house in Tarpon Springs. We arrived at 230 am Monday so we weren't able to appreciate the beauty of your place until the sun came up in the morning. We especially love your backyard, the dock and my kids with my husband enjoyed the kayaks. Although the weather wasn't that great, it didn't stop us from enjoying the Gulf so we headed down south mostly everyday. It was nice coming back to your cozy place after a tiring day full of activities. Glad that Raquel suggested your place to us. My husband was grateful to find the vacuum ( he loves cleaning). I think that we've left your house just as clean as when we got there, I've washed, dried and folded the bed sheets but didn't have enough time for the towels, I would've it time permitted. Thanks for the wine and the tiramisu,my husband and I enjoyed it. We will definitely recommend your place to other friends. Your place had everything we needed and we're very satisfied.

939 Bayshore is a lovely, comfortable home on an idyllic setting. The view of the boat and pelican traffic on the water offers hours of entertainment. Osprey, heron, ibis, and egret ply the waters while dolphin swim past. Truly gorgeous. The house is comfortable, the hosts accommodating. An excellent choice for a laid back holiday.
Located on the quiet side of the Anclote River, between Tarpon Springs and the Gulf. Boating from our calm neighborhood on the river to the Gulf and beaches on the Gulf.
