About the property

“Casa di Leo” Holiday Home is a big, wonderful and a bit Romantic house and it is located in Belforte, a small and delightful characteristic medieval village just 3 km away from Radicondoli.

Thanks to its strategic position on a hilltop, Belforte was founded as military fortress by the Romans. Largely preserved today, the walls which surround the village are in the care of Commission for the Architectural and Landscape Heritage for the Province of Siena . The latest written information about the village dates from 1215. The Holiday Home is ideal for families, groups of friends or simply perfect for people who desire to spend a relaxing holiday in the lap of nature and art, among the beautiful and sweet Tuscan hills. The Holiday Home is very big (200 sm) and it was largely reorganized in 2012. Building materials have been well-chosen, according both to quality and naturalness. Work and hand-painted Italian ceramics were used both in the big bathroom on the first floor and in the little one in the mansard; the parquet, which covers the whole area, has been totally made in Italy, it is natural and completely absent of further artificial treatments. All that has been done according to a philosophy which favours quality over quantity.

The house is organized on three different floors. On the lower floor there is a big typical taverna with wooden-beamed ceiling: there is a big living room with sofas, armchairs and TV, ideal for parties, for enjoying a film in front of the huge fireplace during the cold winter, or even just for playing board games with friends. Here it is also possible to find some local geographical maps and a big bookcase, if you want to relax and read a bit, and there is also a little musicians corner with piano and a guitar, so that musicians can feel at home and play.

The first floor is the bigger and main one. Here there is a wide living room, a modern kitchen, a dining room, three bright bedrooms and two bath rooms. On the second floor there is a bath room and the biggest bedroom of Leo’s house; in front of this one there is a panoramic terrace/solarium overlooking the amazing landscape.

The house is surrounded by a huge neat garden (700 sm) with flowers and fruit trees (cheery, apricot, plum, grape, apple and pear trees), two wonderful pergolas and a new swimming-pool! This one has been built in full compliance with the natural environment and the surrounding walls (in the care of Commission for the Architectural and Landscape Heritage). Near the swimming pool, there is an area with sunbeds, beach umbrellas and chairs.

Animals are, as general rule, welcome!

Casa di Leo’s owners are a young and friendly couple, active and efficient, always ready to help you to make your stay unforgettable. They both speak good English and French and are always available not only to give you simple information and suggestion, but trying to transmit you love and passion for such wonderful places, hoping that you could also fall in love with them.

About Leo & Alessandra

Alessandra and Leo were born in Turin, in the north west of Italy. They came in Tuscany in 1993 and they simply fell in love with the magic landscape of the region. They love art and nature: she's a painter and he's an actor and they are always avaiable to give information and advice.

Leo & Alessandra purchased this villa in 2012

Why Leo & Alessandra chose Belforte

This property was bought in 2011 by the owners. The House was on sale and the first time we saw it, we were struck by the elegance and the peculiarities of the villa. What we particularly liked is the garden: from the outside of the house, it was not possible to imagine how wonderful and spacious it was.

What makes this villa unique

The guests of Casa di Leo can have the possibility to enjoy a wonderful and relaxing holiday, according to their needs. On the one hand, they can decide to spend a restful time in a private, comfortable and spacious Holiday Home; on the other hand, they can choose to have an alternative holiday, travelling around the region, visiting historical and art cities and discoverinf natural areas of Tuscany.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Marie Cogoluenhes

Beautiful comfortable house with lovely views

  • 5 of 5

The house was as per all the photos but better. All the bedrooms were comfortable and the showers were excellent. We had the top room which was lovely, especially having a cup of tea on the sunny balcony. Everything worked and as we were cooking for 6 every night it was great to have everything we needed in the kitchen. Leo and Alessandra were so welcoming and gave us plenty of ideas for days out, we just needed to stay longer to do it all, especially since we stayed around the house and village for a couple of days as it was so peaceful and the views from the garden are so lovely. The village is very pretty and although the shop is very small it has enough if you don't want to go out. The fish van on the Thursday was excellent. We would love to visit again as we left feeling so relaxed. Thank you so much for all your help and care of the garden and house.

Fantastic holiday in a lovely villa

  • 5 of 5

My family and I cannot recommend this holiday home highly enough. It was comfortable and spacious and well equipped to accommodate the family. There are three double bedrooms and one 4-bedroomed family room, which was en suite. Apart from the house was wonderful outside garden areas with a large table so that we could eat outside all the time. THere was lovely area to sit mor quietly and then a large garden area with the pool - necessary to cool off in he lovely Tuscan sun.

The owner was so welcoming, friendly, informative and helpful. he provided information about where we might like to visit locally and worked hard to ensure we could enjoy our holiday.

this was a brilliant holiday in the most beautiful house in a lovely part of Italy.

Best holiday!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We absolute loved our stay here. We had a great welcoming from the owners, who were very helpful with anything we wanted to know, they are a very chilled friendly couple! The place is extremely well equipped, it has everything you need- toilet paper, salt, pepper, oil, washing up liquid, hand soap etc.... so you don't need to worry about buying any of that before you arrive (we are used to staying in villas/apartments with none of this stuff). The whole place is very spacious and it's very clean and comfortable, we couldn't reccomend it higher. Our only niggle (other than the fact we only had a week) was that it was pretty hot at night and they could do with some fans in the bedrooms.

The location is perfect if you have hired a car, Radicondoli is only 10 mins drive with some nice restaurants, and a festival with a great atmosphere every Thursday. Other towns to visit (Siena/ San gimignano/ monterigioni) only 30-40 mins away.

There is not much in belforte, it is a very cute typically Italian town with one shop, a cafe and a post office- opening hours are all a bit dodgey, but they are only about 1 mins walk from the house so it didn't really matter.

Hopefully we shall return some day.

Great Experience - would revisit again

  • 5 of 5

A group of 7 friends rented this villa in Belforte and were very happy we did. The owner's were extremely helpful with assisting us on where to go, how long it would take to get there and what to visit. The accommodations were above our expectations. Each of us had our own privacy and the common areas were very comfortable for meals and just relaxing. The grounds were beautiful and we would definitely revisit this villa. They have my highest recommendations.

Truly Relaxing Indoor/Outdoor Living in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

Our week-long stay at Casa di Leo was the most relaxing vacation that we have ever taken. As a young couple that lives in one of the world’s busiest cities, the beautiful and serene town of Belforte was the perfect place to unwind. The villa was a wonderful home away from home with a modern kitchen equipped with everything we needed to cook dinner, a beautiful and spacious master bathroom (in addition to two others in the house and one in a small building in the yard), several well-furnished bedrooms and many comfortable living spaces. The house was very clean and stocked with almost anything one could need, from extra blankets and coffee mugs to a stereo with a nice CD collection. For us urbanites the best aspect of the villa was its enormous and beautifully landscaped outdoor space, which included several seating areas with gorgeous views. We ate breakfast on the roof deck, swam in the pool and laid in the lounge chairs during the day, and grilled on the patio most evenings. Leo maintains the gardens with great care and it shows, we hardly ever left them! We enjoyed the villa so much that we extended our stay for an extra day. We rarely left Belforte because Casa di Leo and its grounds were so peaceful but Leo offered us many ideas for day excursions, suggestions for restaurants and even gave us directions to find parking in surrounding cities. He was a fantastic host. We had originally arranged to arrive at the villa at 7 PM, though due to many problems with our flight we did not reach Belforte until 2 AM. Leo woke at this inconvenient hour to let us into the villa with a friendly smile and no complaints. Leo and Alessandra renovated the historic property and gave it new life, every detail is tasteful and thoughtfully executed. This property exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend it. We are already planning to bring family or friends with us on a visit next year to enjoy this beautiful place!

Owner's Response: Thank you a lot Seamus and Amanda, you are so nice, what I want to do is just a good job with people during their holidays, but when a guest shows this sensitivity, this work becomes a pleasure because I met some friends. Thank you soo much. Enjoy your wonderful life. Leo & Alessandra

Amazing stay in the perfect home in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

We would highly recommend this wonderful house to anyone. We just got back from a week at Casa di Leo with our two kids (9 and 11) and grandparents (late 70's) and we all agreed it was the perfect place to stay. Located in the quaint and quiet village of Belforte but close enough to Florence, Sienna, and all the beautiful small towns of Tuscany. Just walking around Belforte is amazing. Our kids would wander about and we were never worried. We walked the beautiful path around Belforte on a regular basis just to look at the views. Leo and Alesandra were wonderful and so accomodating. The house was very, very clean and well appointed. We had everything we needed for our stay. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. The best part was the four course meal that Alessandra cooked for us our last was amazing!!!! You must request the dinner. Thank you Leo and Alessandra for helpin us create memories that will last a lifetime.

“Casa di Leo” is situated in Belforte, a little village on the North of Siena and it is an Hamlet of Radicondoli. Radicondoli is a town of about 1300 inhabitants located in the northern part of the 'Metalliferous Hills' on the borders of the Alta Maremma between the Val d’Elsa and the Val de Cecina. It is about 40 km from Siena and similar distances from Volterra, Monteriggioni, San Gimignano and Massa Marittim. The local economy is based mainly on forestry, sheep farming and employment in geothermal areas of the Val di Cecina where electricity is generated and boric acid is extracted. It is a lovely and peaceful area, but, at the same time, it lies close to the main world-famous cities of Tuscany, such as San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra, Firenze. The Tyrrhenian Sea is about 45 Km far from the house and so, it is around the corner. In Radicondoli it is possible to find two little supermarkets, a pharmacy, two restaurants (La Pergola and il Nazionale), a tobacconist’s, a theatre, an information point for tourists and everything you need! Sport facilities nearby Cycling, Hiking, Horse riding, Mountainbiking, Swimming, Tennis,
