2 bedrooms sleep four (2 double beds) between Montparnasse and St Germain
- english, french
We are retired from the United Nations, living part time in Paris and part time in our small country home two hours outside of Paris.
Alexandra purchased this Apartment in 1987
Why Alexandra chose 6th Arrondissement
This is our Paris home, that we vacate a few weeks a year for selected tenants.
What makes this Apartment unique
Location. Top floor, quiet and light. Charm of an apartment that feels more like a little house because of its multiple exposures and original layout.
Children not allowed
Minimum age of primary renter:7
We offer no discounts. The minimum 7-day stay is not flexible.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
This is a big, quiet, comfortable, and well equipped apartment. Beds are good, the kitchen has plenty of equipment to cook in, and the apartment is very quiet. Thanks!
Le top du top !
We cannot speak too highly of our four-week stay throughout May 2019 in this apartment
We are a francophile Australian couple in our mid-70s who have spent several periods of up to three months in Paris apartments (in the Marais, the Latin quarter and St Germain areas) over the last 12 years, usually in April/May to avoid the summer heat.
We are normally mobile but not super-fit.
This has been the best of all the places we’ve stayed in.
Transport - very short walk to a range of metro and bus lines; comfortable walk to Gare Montparnasse.
Shopping/eating - very short walk to small and medium supermarkets, boulangeries, pâtisseries, Asian food suppliers, cafés and restaurants. Comfortable walk to a large FNAC store.
Sightseeing/other facilities - very short walk to the wonderful Jardin du Luxembourg (where you can be as active or idle as you wish); and to the Alliance Française for French classes. Comfortable walk to la Tour Montparnasse for panoramic Paris views.
The combination of top (6th) floor location, with lift/elevator, set well back from the main street - results in a living space that is easily accessible, with an abundance of natural light and ventilation via windows - yet also extremely quiet. The process of entry from the street makes it very secure.
The kitchen is very fully equipped with a generous adjacent dining area. The living room/salon is beautifully appointed with comfortable seating, book-lined walls and a great collection of classical and jazz CDs, which we enjoyed both in the salon and via ceiling speakers in the kitchen/dining area.
The main bedroom mattress is very comfortable
There are ceiling fans throughout.
All these features reflect an apartment which is still lived in by the owners.
Alexandra, the owner (who has not paid for this review!) was at all times extremely prompt, friendly, flexible and responsive with any queries we had, both before and during our tenancy. We have found access to the owner to be a crucial factor in renting Paris apartments, and she has been exceptional in this respect.
The building concierge/gardien was available, cheerful and helpful in all our dealings with him.
The cleaner/housekeeper was friendly, discreet and meticulous during her twice-weekly visits.
IN SUMMARY, our only reason for not recommending this apartment would be that its popularity might make it less available for us in the future!
Paradise in Paris
My husband and I brought our daughter to Paris and stayed in the apartment. It was just perfect - very spacious and a well-equipped kitchen. The location was convenient to the Metro and the bus service was close by. I would highly recommend this apartment.
We cannot say too many great things about this apartment. So clean, quiet comfortable, and well equipped. We also loved the neighborhood with lots of small shops and very near three metro stops. Our communication with the owner was extremely helpful and courteous. Of our almost twenty-five years of renting apartments in Paris, this one is on the top of our list and we hope it will be available for our next trip.
Great location, clean and well situated.
The apartment was clean and well maintained. Location is in a very good location and easy access to several modes of transportation. Our only issue would have been that the one bedroom did not have an available closet to hand clothing. Yet not a deal breaker. Great stay.
We are, of course, pleased you enjoyed your stay. We are also puzzled by the comment on closets, because there is a closet with hanging space available in each bedroom, and can only assume that the occupants' admirable discretion made them hang back from checking. We will make sure that the checkin process is more thorough henceforth.
The property was exactly as described, welcoming and warm.
The location was perfect, an interesting and bustling neighborhood, that we totally enjoyed exploring. The host was very helpful and easy to communicate with making the stay a relaxing and stress free experience.
Our apartment is on the top (sixth) floor of a 1900 building with a lift. It is located in the heart of historic Paris, near to the Luxembourg Gardens, in a quiet street just next to the rue de Rennes, which is a major shopping avenue. The immediate neighborhood is full of food shops, open-air markets, elegant and off-label clothes shopping, restaurants and bars. The best department store and food hall on the Left Bank, the famous Bon Marché, is three blocks away.
On foot or by public transportation one can easily reach key museums (Louvre, Musee d'Orsay), monuments (Pantheon, Invalides, Notre Dame, Eiffel tower), restaurants (advice available), cinemas, and entertainment of all kinds. Three subway lines and multiple bus lines are very close.
