Samak House Rental Photos and Description

4 bed 3 bath, large master suite. Running creek in the back and mountain views

Mirror Lake Retreat is the perfect year-round destination to enjoy both a little solitude and easy access to activities and conveniences in the surrounding area. This well-appointed retrofitted barn-style home includes all of the modern amenities - wifi, Netflix, Sling TV and xbox gaming, but if you would rather disconnect from it all there is a wood stove in the very comfortable family room with a very sleepable pull-out Crate and Barrel couch. Luxury mattresses and bedding ensure a peaceful night's sleep.

The upstairs is a private master suite with its own balcony overlooking the mountains. The master bathroom includes a spacious two-head walk-in shower and imperial footed bathtub. The bunk bed room sleeps 6 comfortably.

Summer: The property has large fire-pit in the back near by a running creek for storytelling and s'mores. When it's lights out you are presented with a deep view of the starry sky and crisp mountain air, perfect for camping on-site or for the more adventurous, at one of the many campgrounds just minutes up the road. The on-property creek contains plenty of trout, but for those who want a sure thing the Fun Family Fishing Trout Farm is walking distance. They will provide rods and even clean the fish for you while you wait. The entertainment area includes a barbeque for grilling them up for a healthy meal, and the enclosed yard allows the kids to run around without having to worry about them wandering down to the river or the road unattended. There are plenty of summer activities in the area, including dozens of hiking and biking trails, canoeing, kayaking, boating and water skiing at the nearby Jordanelle reservoir. Head the other way and you're on the scenic drive to to Mirror Lake, but don't forget to stop at the waterfall!

Winter: This is snowmobiling and snowshoeing country, but several Ski resorts, including the Canyons, Park City and Deer Valley are less than 20 minutes away. The well plowed roads all winter ensure you are never snowed in. The place is just off the highway, ensuring year-round hassle-free accessibility.

Year-round: Run across the street to the Samak Smokehouse whenever you get a hankering for the best smoked Jerky and cheeses on the planet. (We've tried quite a few). This place also carries high-quality organics. Our personal favorites are the homemade caramels and pomegranate licorice. Jen and Dave will certainly take care of you and also have canoes and snowshoes for rent.

And that's not all, just up the street is The Notch Pub, serving up fish and chips and delicious home made burgers and staging live entertainment year-round.

Quaint Kamas Main street is only 10 minutes away, where you can find melt-in-your mouth pizzas, homeskillet breakfasts, and turn-it-upside-down malts.

After all that snacking, hit up the rec-center to swim a few laps, float the lazy river, zip around the water slide, play a round of racquetball or climb the rock wall.

If exercise isn't your idea of a vacation, how about shopping? Park City main street and the Outlets are just a short drive away...

These are some of the many reasons we love our Mirror Lake Retreat. We hope you do too.

About Krista Stevens

We are an international family who has lived across the globe. We have had many people open their doors to us, and are excited to share our home with others.

Krista Stevens purchased this house in 2010

Why Krista Stevens chose Utah

We are world travelers who bought the Mirror Lake Retreat as a place we can always go home to. After a lot of time searching through Tahoe and Park City, we finally found 'the one' We loved that it was so central to so many things, convenient yet remote enough to feel like we were truly getting away from it all.

What makes this house unique

The idea of a retrofitted barn wasn't what we had in mind for a cabin, but when we actually saw it inside and out, we fell in love with its unique quality, solid craftsmanship, and the firepit and stream! Our family reunions have been pretty fun the past couple of years. We understand that every group has a different idea of what a vacation should be. Actually, sometimes every person in a group has a different idea of what a vacation should be, and this place can cater to all of them.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just wanted to drop a note to say we had an incredible time at the cabin.

Our stay was amazing. It snowed, the kids got to play in the snow, ski,

and snow board, and we all got to snowmobile. The cabin is beautiful. We

had plenty of room and it was clean and had all the amenities we needed.

Gorgeous Home and Location

  • 5 of 5

We are so happy that we found this property. This was a fantastic property for a great price and was so much better than staying at a unit that is part of condo complex next to Jordanelle. The view out the back door and in the canyon was amazing.

We loved the backyard with an area for yard games and a fire pit for s'mores. The creek was relaxing too.

The house was perfect and we loved the large table in the kitchen to accommodate everyone. We could have used more seating for enjoying a movie with a large group.

We will definitely consider this property for our next annual summer family gathering. It's beats camping outdoors but affords all of the best aspects of camping.

A nice quiet stay near the mountains

  • 4 of 5

When we came to the house on the first day, I had two concerns. First, that it is close to a very busy highway. However, if we were in the house or in the back yard, we didn't hear cars at all.

The second concern is that there is no air conditioning in the home, and we were staying in august. However, the temperatures were pretty reasonable. When it got hot in the house, we turned the fans on and opened the windows, and that took care of it.

All in all, it was a very nice stay. Everything was clean and well kept. We especially liked the large dining room table so that all of our company could eat at the table at once.

BEST ACCOMODATIONS FOR FAMILY FILLLED FUN

  • 5 of 5

WE TRULY ENJOYED OUR STAY AT THE BIG RED BARN AND IT PROVIDED ENTERTAINMENT FOR OUR WHOLE FAMILY! SPACIOUS AND COMFORTABLE - THE LARGE TABLE IN THE DINING AREA WAS PLENTY BIG FOR US TO ALL BE AROUND AND MANY A GAMES WERE PLAYED THERE WELL INTO THE NIGHT! WOODSY WHILE STILL BEING CLOSE TO MODERN CONVENIENCES. WE TOOK GRANDBABIES FISHING UP THE ROAD AT THE TROUT FARM AND HIKED THRU THE FAIRY FORREST. MY HUSBAND WAS FOUND FISHING IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS WITH OUR GRANDSON AND THE BON FIRE EACH NIGHT WITH SMORES WAS A HUGE HIT!!! OWNERS WERE VERY ACCOMODATING - WHEN I HAD QUESTIONS, I ALWAYS GOT A RESPONSE - BEFORE/DURING AND AFTER OUR STAY! I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH! THANKS FOR A WONDERFUL 4 DAYS!

Great Red Barn!!

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for our family of 10 (6 adults, 4 kids)! We didn't have any problems reserving or accessing the property. All questions were answered quickly by the owner. We loved the fenced in yard so little kids couldn't escape. We loved the fire pit and stream right out the back. There were plenty of amenities that were useful (wifi, washer & dryer, Xbox, etc.) The kitchen was well stocked for cooking for our group. This place had plenty of room for us all. We didn't feel cramped in any way. We had many events planned in the local area, but ended up skipping some of those and hanging around the Red Barn because we enjoyed it so much. This place is close to some great activities if you need to get out - trout farm down the road, Mirror Lake Scenic Parkway + Provo River Falls, Kamas Aquatics Center, Olympic Park in Park City, Tanger Outlet Mall, and Park City itself. We highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a comfortable place to stay that is close-ish to the city while being around the great outdoors.

Beautiful, almost perfect property.

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful property and home. The fire pit out back next to the river, was the perfect end to our active summer days. The kitchen was equipped perfectly, with all the kitchen tools we could have asked for. Sadly, the air conditioning wasn't working properly, therefore we didn't get a break from the heat, the house temp did not go below 75. The beds, bedrooms and bathrooms were amazing for our family and fit perfectly. It would have been nice to know in advance that we would not have been able to access the garage, for parking and storing luggage.

I'd highly recommend the property to friends, we may visit this home again ourselves, although it would be after a conversation about the property manager about the air conditioning.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry that you were uncomfortable because of the heat. The property does not have air conditioning as stated on the listing. Usually the mountain breeze will keep things cooled off through open windows but in July and August it can get warm in the cabin. I also apologize for the inconvenience of not being able to use the garage. The garage is used for storage and not accessible to renters so it is not listed as available on the website. Thank you for calling to express to me your concerns. I hope that i was able to give you the answers you were looking for. We would love to have the opportunity to host you again in the future. Our Family had an awesome experience. Better than expected.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very peaceful. It was very well stocked. My son and family are moving to Kentucky and I wanted a fun family experience before they left. I feel like we had a great time together and it accommodated all ages from 1 year to 83 years. There was something for all. The property was clean and well maintained. Emails were responded to promptly. The only thing that didn't match the description is that I didn't see a printer. But that wasn't necessary and we would not have used it. I would recommend this to others. It was great that the yard is fenced and the fire pit is in a different area. This allowed for a fire without having to worry about little children by the fire unless they were by us. We started our day with fishing at the Trout farm nearby. We painted rocks and took up to The Fairy Forest. We also went to Deer creek and rented a wake board, wave runner and played with Kayaks. There was also plenty to do at the cabin. Thank you
