Overview

About the property

4 bed 3 bath, large master suite. Running creek in the back and mountain views

Mirror Lake Retreat is the perfect year-round destination to enjoy both a little solitude and easy access to activities and conveniences in the surrounding area. This well-appointed retrofitted barn-style home includes all of the modern amenities - wifi, DirecTV, Netflix, and xbox gaming, but if you would rather disconnect from it all there is a wood stove in the comfortable family room with a very sleepable pull-out Crate and Barrel couch. Luxury mattresses and bedding ensure a peaceful night's sleep.

The upstairs is a private master suite with its own balcony overlooking the mountains. The master bathroom includes a spacious two-head walk-in shower and imperial footed bathtub. The bunk bed room sleeps 6 comfortably.

Summer: The property has large fire-pit in the back near by a running creek for storytelling and s'mores. When it's lights out you are presented with a deep view of the starry sky and crisp mountain air, perfect for camping on-site or for the more adventurous, at one of the many campgrounds just minutes up the road. The on-property creek contains plenty of trout, but for those who want a sure thing the Fun Family Fishing Trout Farm is walking distance. They will provide rods and even clean the fish for you while you wait. The entertainment area includes a BBQ for grilling them up for a healthy meal, and the enclosed yard allows the kids to run around without having to worry about them wandering down to the river or the road unattended. There are plenty of summer activities in the area, including dozens of hiking and biking trails, canoeing, kayaking, boating and water skiing at the nearby Jordanelle reservoir. Head the other way and you're on the scenic drive to to Mirror Lake, but don't forget to stop at the waterfall!

Winter: This is snowmobiling and snowshoeing country, but several Ski resorts, including the Canyons, Park City and Deer Valley are less than 20 minutes away. The well plowed roads all winter ensure you are never snowed in. The place is just off the highway, ensuring year-round hassle-free accessibility.

Year-round: Run across the street to the Samak Smokehouse whenever you get a hankering for the best smoked Jerky and cheeses on the planet. (We've tried quite a few). This place also carries high-quality organics. Our personal favorites are the homemade caramels and pomegranate licorice. Jen and Dave will certainly take care of you and also have canoes and snowshoes for rent.

And that's not all, just up the street is The Notch Pub, serving up fish and chips and delicious home made burgers and staging live entertainment year-round.

Quaint Kamas Main street is only 10 minutes away, where you can find melt-in-your mouth pizzas, homeskillet breakfasts, and turn-it-upside-down malts.

After all that snacking, hit up the rec-center to swim a few laps, float the lazy river, zip around the water slide, play a round of racquetball or climb the rock wall.

If exercise isn't your idea of a vacation, how about shopping? Park City main street and the Outlets are just a short drive away...

These are some of the many reasons we love our Mirror Lake Retreat. We hope you do too.

Notes from review feedback:

1. The cabin has been updated with a new water heating system and backup unit to ensure no further issues.

2. There is no air conditioning in this unit as it is not necessary. The cabin is nestled in a sheltered canyon which is often 10 degrees or more cooler than the surrounding area and channels a cool breeze in the summer. We have found that there are only a handful of nights a year when it feels warm, and overhead and portable fans are available for these times.

About Krista Stevens

We are an international family who has lived across the globe. We have had many people open their doors to us, and are excited to share our home with others.

Krista Stevens purchased this house in 2010

Why Krista Stevens chose Utah

We are world travelers who bought the Mirror Lake Retreat as a place we can always go home to. After a lot of time searching through Tahoe and Park City, we finally found 'the one' We loved that it was so central to so many things, convenient yet remote enough to feel like we were truly getting away from it all.

What makes this house unique

The idea of a retrofitted barn wasn't what we had in mind for a cabin, but when we actually saw it inside and out, we fell in love with its unique quality, solid craftsmanship, and the firepit and stream! Our family reunions have been pretty fun the past couple of years. We understand that every group has a different idea of what a vacation should be. Actually, sometimes every person in a group has a different idea of what a vacation should be, and this place can cater to all of them.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just wanted to drop a note to say we had an incredible time at the cabin.

Our stay was amazing. It snowed, the kids got to play in the snow, ski,

and snow board, and we all got to snowmobile. The cabin is beautiful. We

had plenty of room and it was clean and had all the amenities we needed.

My wife and I have already talked about returning next year

Perfect weekend getaway! We live in the SL valley but needed a quick break.

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this place was perfect! It was clean, spacious and felt like home. Beds were comfy, furniture and decor was darling! Kitchen well stocked with pots, pans and dishes. We enjoyed s'mores at the fire pit and bbq on the grill. Tons of games and stuff for kids to do. We couldn't find the portacrib but we made do. The yard is fenced however the fire pit is right next to the river without a fence so we are too nervous for the younger kids to be out there. I would highly recommend this place and will likely book it again.

Very nice clean and enjoyable.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed being able to have a fire burn while we talked and visited in the nice large eating and gathering area. Everything was well furnished. Lots of extra blankets for staying warm. Might suggest you get a rain gutter over the front door. Getting in and out when it is raining or the snow is melting from the roof is interesting--you get wet. But other than that very enjoyable.

Cozy Christmas!

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a lovely time in this beautiful home. Plenty of room for the whole family. All the basics were supplied plus a darling little Christmas tree. We were without hot water for almost 16 hours which forced us to cancel our breakfast plans because we could not shower in the morning. The owners were very responsive and remedied it right away but this is a reoccurring problem and it needs to be corrected so that future guests are not affected.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your honest review. We have spent a small fortune repairing our water heater several times over the past couple of months and decided to finally just replace it. Unfortunately the new unit did not arrive in time for your stay but will be replaced on January 4th with an additional backup unit. I assure you this will not be a problem again should you choose to stay with us in the future. For the record, we were called at 7 am, had plumbers arrive at 10 am and hot water was restored by early that afternoon, which is a much faster response than the 16 hours would suggest. Warmest regards and happy holidays, Aaron

Superb Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Could not be more pleased with our stay at the Kamas cabin property. We had an adult party of 10 stay for 2 nights and 3 days. When they let us know that everything would be included, they mean EVERYTHING. We had absolutely every imaginable item we could need (paper towels, dishes, sheets, laundry soap, extra pillows and blankets). The hosts were very kind and offered every chance to make our stay perfect. We loved every small detail of this perfectly remodeled cabin. The master bedroom is an entire suite upstairs and offered a perfect retreat. LOVED this place and plan on staying here annually. Highest of recommendations.
