I’m Kim Bergstrom, and my husband Eric and I have built on my father’s childhood dream of owning a beachfront house on the Oregon Coast. Our family built that vacation home in 1960. In 1996 Eric and I were fortunate enough to become the new owners of our family vacation home, and created a vacation rental so that we could share with wonderful Manzanita experience with others (VRBO 399113).
Since that time we have purchased and remodeled two more oceanside Manzanita beach vacation homes (VRBO 442897 and VRBO 632357) and are thrilled to be able to share the wonderful Manzanita experience with our guests, both returning and new.
We've named our vacation rentals The Houses On Manzanita Beach, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do. We'd love to be your hosts.
Kim's family has a long history on this unique stretch of the beautiful north Oregon coast. Her grandfather, familiar with the area from working with the railroad, brought his family from Hillsboro to vacation here. Her father, after graduating from Pacific University in Forest Grove, bought property at the foot of Neah-kah-nie and built a much loved family vacation home in 1960. Kim and Eric married on the beach house lawn, adjacent to their beloved beach on a sunny August day in 1986. Why Manzanita? Where else?! It's our slice of heaven!
We've finished our remodel and are now open for guests. Spend your next vacaton at this newly remodeled oceanside house on one of the most famous Oregon beaches. Add front row seating to the July 4th fireworks and it's the best location on the beach!
Boy, we've been traveling a lot this year, but we were able to take advantage of a short getaway not long after the Thanksgiving holiday, and before the Christmas crazy started. This house couldn't have been more incredible! We spent evenings either relaxing in front of the wood fireplace, or at one of our local favorite restaurants (we love Blackbird, Left Coast, and Rising Star Cafe). Days were spent strolling along the incredible beach, early Christmas shopping, or, yes, relaxing in front of the wood fireplace with a great book. Or hubby watching football (while I read). This is the house I would like for us - it's cozy while having wonderful spaces throughout. The bathrooms were charming, the bedrooms comfy. The extra family room space came in handy when I didn't want to hear the game! The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The house was nicely located only a couple blocks to town and the nearby bakery/coffee shop. We love Manzanita, and this is our new favorite house. We'll be back in the spring time!
Unique cabin, excellent location, lots of space...great kitchen for group cooking!
We had 6 adults and 4 kids. On the beach, with only a quiet road separating, it was easy to get to. Two living areas was great for separation. Kitchen has plenty of appliances and utensils. Our only issue was the bunks (from Ikea, I think) only hold so much weight. One of our adults who stayed with his children down there slept on the couch instead because he didn't want to risk it. Kids lived them though! This place was so nicely put together. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Our one week stay exceeded our expectations. The house is beautifully decorated, open and spacious with vaulted ceilings, comfortable, and situated right on the beach, so the view is amazing. There are few spots in Manzanita better than this one.
The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are very comfortable, clean, and perfect for families with kids, a weekend getaway, a girl's weekend, or time with friends. The front porch, family room, and the kitchen all overlook the beach and waves.
This house is first class; a great getaway in the great location. All in all, easily a five-star property, and it was great to work with the owner who is communicative and very friendly. Hoping to return next year--thanks again for a great stay!
This was our second year in a row; we plan for many more. The location is ideal, just off the beach and within walking distance of downtown. Downtown is lovely, with a good vibe and an incredible Farmer's Market on Friday evenings. The home is very comfortable and well maintained. One small issue with the washer was promptly addressed (and our own fault after all!). Highly recommended.
We stayed at this house for 4 nights around spring break. The home is really nicely put together- nice art, not cheesy vacation home bric-a-brac. It was well stocked with essential items and very comfortable-good beds, high end linens, etc. Now about the location- excellent. You can see the ocean from living room and kitchen, just walk across the street and you're on the beach. You're also only a 5 min walk from Manzanita, which is my favorite coast town- small and sleepy but still with nice places. The only thing that slightly bothered us was drivers pulling up directly in our view to walk to the ocean. But it wasn't that big of a deal and overall was a perfect week on the beach! Also very close to Oswald West and hike to Neahkahnie. Loved it
Spend your next coast vacation in charming Manzanita, what Sunset Magazine calls one of the TOP 10 HIDE-A-WAYS with the following glowing recommendation: 'If Goldilocks were a beach girl, Manzanita would be the town on Oregon's northern coast she'd find 'just right.' Not too swanky, not too tacky. A bakery, wine bar, organic clothing store, and spa are all worthy indulgences, but you've got to see the beach first: seven wide-open miles of sand, big boomy waves, and poetry-worthy sunsets.'
