About Kim Bergstrom

I’m Kim Bergstrom, and my husband Eric and I have built on my father’s childhood dream of owning a beachfront house on the Oregon Coast. Our family built that vacation home in 1960. In 1996 Eric and I were fortunate enough to become the new owners of our family vacation home, and created a vacation rental so that we could share with wonderful Manzanita experience with others (VRBO 399113).

Since that time we have purchased and remodeled two more oceanside Manzanita beach vacation homes (VRBO 442897 and VRBO 632357) and are thrilled to be able to share the wonderful Manzanita experience with our guests, both returning and new.

We've named our vacation rentals The Houses On Manzanita Beach, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do. We'd love to be your hosts.

Why Kim Bergstrom chose Coastal Oregon

Kim's family has a long history on this unique stretch of the beautiful north Oregon coast. Her grandfather, familiar with the area from working with the railroad, brought his family from Hillsboro to vacation here. Her father, after graduating from Pacific University in Forest Grove, bought property at the foot of Neah-kah-nie and built a much loved family vacation home in 1960. Kim and Eric married on the beach house lawn, adjacent to their beloved beach on a sunny August day in 1986. Why Manzanita? Where else?! It's our slice of heaven!

What makes this cabin unique

We've finished our remodel and are now open for guests. Spend your next vacaton at this newly remodeled oceanside house on one of the most famous Oregon beaches. Add front row seating to the July 4th fireworks and it's the best location on the beach!

Great Place to Relax on the Deck Overlooking Ocean

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a girls getaway and then added their other house, the Caretakers Bungalow as we had more people joining us. This was the perfect rental for a group get-a-way. There were separate spaces to hang out and where we didn't feel we were on top of each other. We really enjoyed hanging out on the large deck in the cute red deckchairs and watching the ocean while relaxing.

We appreciated the BBQ and the plentiful supply of wood for fires in the vintage real fireplace. The house was updated as well done as the Caretakers Bungalow. We were all drooling over the attractive tile in the bathrooms.

The house had everything needed for our vacation and was just a short walk to town and seconds to the beach. And do I really have to tell you the views are beautiful? If I do then you haven't been to Manzanita. It's our favorite spot on the Oregon coast to visit and we will be back to this house, both as a group and I'll talk my husband into a get-a-way. And we absolutely adored Spa Manzanita for some pampering too. Our experience was very memorable and appreciated the professional manager.

Best House on the Beach

  • 5 of 5

I'm so sad our stay had to come to an end. We certainly will schedule another trip to this wonderful cabin on our favorite beach. I've been visiting Manzanita since I was a kid, and now visit with my own family, and this is our favorite rental house by far! First off Kim was great to deal with. We appreciated the very quick responses to our messages (we certainly didn't find that with our other rentals). She was always cheerful and happy to answer all of our questions (and we had lots of them). Her directions and instructions were complete and easy to follow. She also offered wonderful suggestions (we loved Rising Star in Nehalem for a wonderful dinner out. We hadn't tried it yet. Buttercup also in Nehalem was great for a homemade ice cream treat). Now we come to the house. Love love love the location. Just a couple blocks to the coffee shop and Little Apple so we rarely used our car. The beach was right there and the view was outstanding. Sunsets were to die for. Loved that the kitchen, dining and living room all took advantage of that view. Seeing the beach when visiting the beach makes the trip all the more special. We took advantage of the snubber to sit on the deck and enjoy a glass of wine while relaxing to the sound of the waves. It was a quiet location so mainly we felt we had the beach to ourselves. Being situated across the street was no problem. Not in Manzanita. We love how time slows down when we visit this sleepy little town (we hope to retire here some day). Kim has taken a more traditional cabin and added really cute updates. We loved the well thought out kitchen which was stocked with everything we needed. Kim even answered our questions quickly when we couldn't locate the coffee filters (and they were right in front of us). Loved loved loved the heated bathroom floors (and the tile was so beautiful too). The beds were comfortable and cozy. Appreciated the quick internet and TVs both in living room and family room. REALLY appreciate the family room on a separate floor from the great room (if you have kids you can relate). We're planning on returning regularly and changing our summer vacation plans. We're discussing coming here instead.

Beautiful views and extremely relaxing, couldn't be happier!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was wonderful! The property is located along a quiet beach road a few blocks from Manzanita's main street. The unobstructed views of the beach and ocean views from the living room and kitchen are amazing. We particularly enjoyed the magnificent sunsets.

The house is tastefully decorated, cozy, and exceptionally clean. The beds are very comfortable with high end linens. The kitchen was very well equipped.

I cannot recommend this house enough. This is the third time my wife and I stayed in Manzanita and the first time we stayed at this house. The owners Kim and Eric are the most amazing hosts! We have never had a better experience throughout the entire booking process and 5 days stay at this wonderful property. We received confirmation and detailed e-mail instructions prior to our arrival and all considerations were made to have everything stocked and ready for us. I was very impressed with how easy they made it feel like home. We will definitely be back!

Busy location that is like a fishbowl

  • 2 of 5

The pictures look good for this property but the street is about level with the floor in the house and is about 12 feet from the slider door that overlooks the beach, and if you are sitting on the sofa in the living room about 25 feet from occupants in their vehicles that are persistantly driving by and peering into this residence, even in February. lf you have active children or a loud group it may not be much of an issue, but if you are looking for a bit of privacy and some quiet time this is not going to be an enjoyable stay for you, just like it was not enjoyable or any way peaceful for my wife and myself.

Owner's Response: Hi Ken. I'm so sorry - and surprised - to hear your stay was not enjoyable! It's especially disheartening as you mentioned when you initially contacted us that the last place you stayed was too musty, and the two other rentals before that were not enjoyable either. I was hoping, like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, that this house would be just right! It's also disheartening as we try our best to make sure our ocean view houses are a good match for our guests. And unfortunately this goal was not met for your stay. It's also disheartening as we weren't contacted concerning your dissatisfaction. We had another property where we could have moved you so your experience would have been more restful. We've had wonderful reviews from other guests about this property - again, I'm so sorry the house was not a good match for your vacation. For your next vacation, if you are at all unhappy with your situation, be sure to contact the owners or managers so they may try to rectify whatever is causing you distress. We always appreciate the opportunity to make things right for guests!

We loved this cabin !

  • 5 of 5

We (6 fifty somethings) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Manzanita cabin. The views of the ocean from the living room, kitchen area and deck are terrific. You just cross the street and you are on the dunes and then the beach. The house was clean and modern with everything updated except for the charming original wood burning fireplace which made the cabin nice and cozy. There were 2 nice bedrooms, 2 baths, living room and kitchen on the main floor and a bunk room, full bath and sitting area with a TV on the lower level. Very tastefully decorated throughout. The owners responded quickly and were very professional and easy to work with. I would highly recommend this cabin !

Nothing Could be Nicer!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great property. So convenient to both beach and town. The view from the kitchen and family room is breathtaking. We couldn't believe how completely the kitchen is stocked. An impressive library and assortment of games, beach chairs and towels, firewood, you name it and it's probably provided. Would love to return!

Spend your next coast vacation in charming Manzanita, what Sunset Magazine calls one of the TOP 10 HIDE-A-WAYS with the following glowing recommendation: 'If Goldilocks were a beach girl, Manzanita would be the town on Oregon's northern coast she'd find 'just right.' Not too swanky, not too tacky. A bakery, wine bar, organic clothing store, and spa are all worthy indulgences, but you've got to see the beach first: seven wide-open miles of sand, big boomy waves, and poetry-worthy sunsets.'
