As a surveyor I always wanted to build a striking modern timber highly insulated ecological villa and we had this opportunity in 2010 incorporating many ideas such as heat exchangers which provide low cost heating in the Winter and air conditioning in the Summer,as well as hot water, and a rain water recuperation underground tank. We have known this area for over 20 years and we were lucky enough to find this stunning hillside location which has panoramic views from all the rooms from Cap D'Antibes to the bay of Cannes. We wanted to create a villa that gives our holidaymakers an exceptional experience which is in a bit of paradise between heaven and earth. Our recent reviews show we have been successful in achieving this.
Owner purchased this Villa in 2010
Why Owner chose Le Bar-sur-Loup
We have had experiences of staying in holiday villas which were tired, poorly furnished and we were determined to create a high quality villa and furnishings but at the same time offering good value for money.
What makes this Villa unique
Whether you like country or town ,quiet or busy the location offers you both with the lower Alps behind us offering fantastic walks, hilltop villages, country markets, and amazing views. The alternative is avaible as within 30 minutes you have the whole of the Cote D'Azure coast to play with from Italian influenced Menton known for its citrus fruits, glitzy Monaco, cosmopolitan Nice,Old Antibes with market and busy port, fun loving Juan les Pins, and buzzing Cannes famous for the film festival.

Clean, comfortable and modern villa in a great location.
We had a fabulous family holiday in the villa. The owners were very friendly and responsive. We arrived and checked out early and this was no issue. We arrived to a clean villa with a personal welcome and mid week bed/towel change.
The location is very accessible for the area and not far from Nice airport (less than an hour). We found it well placed to visit Cannes, St Paul du Vence, Gourdon, Valbonne and Grasse. A good mix of old towns, restaurants, coast and countryside to visit. Plenty of cyclists on the mountain roads if that's your thing. All good for a day or evening out. Supermarkets are plentiful plus a local Monday market you can walk to. Near by is a lake to swim and a karting centre 5 mins up the hill (good for teenagers). A car is essential and preferably small to help with narrow roads.
The villa itself has four equal bedrooms and bathrooms all with a dressing room and view. One has a bath. This was excellent as there were no arguments over who got the best room! All have a safe. The kitchen has everything you need including wine fridge and the open plan works well. Handy downstairs toilet and pantry. We travelled with teenagers and the satellite television was amazing. They said that, plus the pool was the best thing about the holiday! The pool was cool and you might want to heat it if you like it more tepid but we had a hot summer and it was ok for us including the toddler. There is a Weber BBQ, sofa and table tennis.
The only downside, as we had a relative who uses a walking stick, is it sits on a steep hill but it's not unusual for the area and it does mean you get a fabulous view and quiet location. We walked down fine and would use a car to collect our stick walker.
Many thanks for your positive comments. We are pleased you had a great holiday and enjoyed the villa. Thanks for leaving the villa in such a nice state. we hope to greet you again in the future.
Perfect for 4 couples
BONITA, COMODA , LIMPIA.........GENIAL...¡¡.PERFECTA¡¡
Many thanks for your lovely comments. It was a pleasure to meet all of you and to see you all enjoying yourselves so much!
A perfect holiday venue
This property is perfect family venue for a holiday. A well equipped and comfortable property, with spectacular views and in a great location. It has everything you would need for a relaxing holiday, with its wine fridge, heated pool, plenty of sun loungers and views to die for!
The property was very clean and well maintained. We had a bit of trouble with getting the air conditioning and tv to work, but the owner was very helpful and quick to sort any queries out for us. Having the owner next door was very useful and meant we didn't have to worry about anything.
This property is perfectly located to be able to enjoy both the tranquility of historic villages such as Gourdon and Valbonne, and the buzz of resorts such as Cannes and Monaco. It is also within walking distance, albeit down a very steep lane, to local bakeries, shops and cafes.
I would definitely recommend this property to groups of friends and families.
many thanks for your lovely comments and hope to welcome you again.
Lovely villa but beware of hidden charges
Imagine you’ve spent hours on the internet viewing 100s of villas to find one that fits both your requirements and your budget. This is what we did in order to celebrate my 50th birthday. Having chosen La Tour and made a booking, we then received the Terms and Conditions and information on extra charges, some of which are mandatory: an extortionate amount for cleaning/laundry, more euros for heating the pool (which was unheated for 4 of the 7 days due to an electrical fault, yet the owner refused to reimburse us with more than a quarter of the amount paid), a penalty charge if you check-in after 8pm, another penalty charge if you want to check-out before 7am. This is on top of a hefty security deposit which the owner decided to subtract the cost of a new designer toilet lid which he said had a small hairline crack in it. The fact that we didn’t notice this hairline crack on a lid where the hinges were very loose, fell on deaf ears. The villa itself is beautifully designed with spacious rooms but sadly the memories of our stay were tarnished by these unexpected charges for what is an expensive, albeit lovely, villa.
Our terms and conditions are transparent and clear. Our only mandatory charge is a contribution to cleaning and laundry and this is clearly mentioned on the web site. Our breakages deposit which you refer to as excessive is half of comparable villas in our area. We have never charged a customer in 5 years since we commenced renting the villa for arriving after 8p.m or leaving before 7a.m. You fail to mention that you did not inform us for 4 days that the pool heating was not working ( hence the reason for a smaller reduction than what was demanded) and that within hours of you reporting this problem the pool heating was reactivated.
It was disappointing to receive these remarks when your comments were so positive on leaving the villa. We ask holidaymakers to declare any breakages ( minor breakages such as broken glasses are ignored ) which you failed to do. Photos of the damage were sent to you.
All our reviews to date have been 5 star and this speaks for itself.
We stayed at La Tour with our three children and along with their partners/friends - so 8 adults in total for a week, as soon as we arrived we knew we should have booked longer!
The villa is clean and everything was provided, way above the minimum that you usually get in a holiday villa. It was lovely and clean, home from home.
On our first evening Stuart recommended Cappricio's which is only about a 10 minute walk (a bit longer on the way home up the very steep hill!) with live music, dancing and yummy food, not too expensive either. We also visited Grasse, Valbonne (big market on Friday morning), Gordon (amazing views) and the rock pools at Gorge du Loup (rock pools were a hit, but the 'walk/scramble' to get to them is a bit nerve wracking!). The bakers at the bottom of the hill are great for breakfast supplies and it's less than 5 min drive to local supermarket (technically walking distance but I wouldn't want to walk back up the hill with my shopping!) There's also a market in the village on Monday mornings.
There was plenty of space for us all, the bedrooms lovely with dressing area and ensuite bathrooms to all of them.
I would definitely recommend La Tour to anyone who wants a relaxing, comfortable holiday, we were talking about returning for another visit before we'd left!
Located in the lower foothills of the Southern Alps, Magagnosc is a picturesque Provencal village 5 minutes from the ancient town of Grasse, the perfume capital of the world. It is an excellent base from which to explore the Côte d'Azur and is just 30 minutes from the coast and popular destinations such as Cannes, Antibes, Juan les Pins and Nice. Provencal villages with fine restaurants such as Valbonne and Mougins are only 15 minutes drive away. Hilltop villages such as Gourdon, Bar sur Loup and Fayence are all nearby. There are many scenic walks in the Gorge du Loup and the mountains behind the villa, one of which is the GR51 (Balcons de la Cote d'Azur). Lac St Cassien and the Gorge provide excellent (and less crowded!) alternative swimming options to the coast. There are also 5 main ski stations in a 1-2 hour drive away. Road access is excellent and there is a regular bus service at the bottom of the road to Nice town, airport, Cannes and Grasse.
Other Activities: Canyoning, Go Karting, Paint balling, rock pool swimming
Golf: There are 5 golf courses all within 15/20 mins of the villa one of which is the PGA championship course at Mougins. The other courses are situated in Grasse,Valbonne,Mouans Sartoux,Opio, and a second course in Mougins.
Ski: Greoliere les Neiges the nearest ski station 40 mins away offers excellent beginners and intermediate skiing. The 2 largest ski stations in the area at Foux D'Allos, and Isola 2000 are about 2 hours drive away. Foux D'Allos has the longest ski runs in southern Europe.
