Location Location Location. Minutes to everything yet comfortable relaxed setting to call home. Walk to Balboa Park & San Diego Zoo. Downtown night life, Hillcrest eateries, North Park Art scene and so much more.
Original gum-wood trim throughout the home and outdoor living spaces make this the perfect vacation home.
We enjoyed our stay in this adorable Craftsman cottage. The house is lovingly maintained and the bathroom is terrific. The location is great: quiet neighborhood with plenty of parking and easy access to the freeways or walking to restaurants. We did have a bit of trouble with the top deadbolt lock. It was extremely difficult to turn the key to lick or unlock the door. Other than that everything was great!
Beautiful setting, property has beautiful flower gardens all around the cottage.Nice comfortable seating area in the front, also out the bedroom.
Very clean cottage, pleanty of room, decorated nicely, like being home.
Very close to everything, the park, zoo, restaurants, very easy to get downtown.
Enjoyed my stay there.
We truly enjoyed our experience at Rick's craftsman cottage. This was one of the nicest places we have stayed using VRBO, in terms of host responsiveness and property quality.
The cottage is accurately described and has a lot of personal touches which make it very charming. It is very spacious and welcoming. Tons of natural light. Kitchen is great size, there is large dining room, and laundry! Also the bathroom IS AMAZING- super modern, and has huge tub and a heater that keeps you toasty when drying off! Bed is also super comfortable!
Above all else, the crown jewel of this property is Rick's garden. It is absolutely beautiful and is a real retreat. There are fragrant roses, bamboo trees and a great sitting area to take it all in. Additionally location is great, Balboa park is down the block, close proximity to great coffee shops and restaurants of North Park and about 20 min drive to La Jolla and Corondo. Area is quiet and safe with plenty of street parking. Wifi is extremely strong and reliable !
We had the opportunity to meet Rick and he is a fantastic host. He is very responsive to text message and phone calls. Rick used to live on this property and his passion for maintaining it and creating a relaxing getaway for his guests is apparent. Rick was also extremely accommodating with our check in and check out.
We will truly miss our time here, especially hanging out in the garden area! Thank you for a great stay, Rick and for creating an amazing getaway! Hope to return soon!
We were in San Diego for a week to attend the Holiday Bowl (Go Badgers!) and over the New Year. The house was perfect for the two of us and the neighborhood was quiet. All the people we saw around the area were very nice also. The property is really close to Balboa Park and the zoo. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was great! If we would have had more time and the weather would have been a bit warmer, we would have loved to spend some time outdoors relaxing. The patio area is very lovely and the landscaping is perfect. The deck off the bedroom is small but would be wonderful for enjoying coffee (or tea) in the morning! Everything was clean and well taken care of. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking.
We ate at the Olympic Café one morning and the food was very good. Also ate breakfast in Old Town which was good as well and very busy! Lots of brochures and information were available at the house so it helped us decide on some of the locations we visited. We ate down by the harbor a few times at different restaurants. New Year's Eve was spent at Island Prime and was worth the price. If you like Italian, Bencotto's in Little Italy is fantastic. Fresh, homemade pasta made for great food!! Wineries in the area are well worth the visit as well, would have liked to get to more of them. The USS Midway was fantastic, a MUST SEE if you are in the area. Other than the traffic and trying to park downtown, it was a great visit.
We would definitely recommend this house to everyone! Rick was very helpful whenever we had a question or needed to call about something and we had all the information we needed when we arrived. He's done some really great work in the home. And the little Christmas tree was a very nice touch. There was always readily available parking in front of the property as well.
This cottage was a lovely accommodation for us in North Park. All the conveniences of home and very close to our son and his family. Balboa is a 5" trip by car and the restaurants nearby are superior. We have been to San Diego many times over the last years with an assortment of hotels, condos and B&Bs but this was the best. Rick was highly responsive to any inquiries .
The rose bushes are exquisite. Oh, yes, and plenty of street parking.....which is highly uncommon in this area. We will definitely return to this spot!
We enjoyed a 2 week vacation in San Diego and this cottage was perfect for us. It is centrally located to Balboa park & downtown and near University avenue which is a very diverse area with all the stores & shops one would need. The owner was very helpful and readily available to answer our questions. A definite recommend from us.
