Black Butte Ranch is one of Oregon's oldest and most desirable western getaways in the Pacific Northwest. The early founders of the 1800 acre ranch ensured that generations to come will be able to enjoy this spectacular protected wilderness. This is the kind of place family traditions are made of.
Beautifully updated, the layout of this home is ideal for two families to come share the ranch together. The lower level has two bedrooms; one with a queen and one with two twins. Upstairs you'll find two more bedrooms; both with queens. Continue on up to the next level and you'll find a cozy kids' loft area.
The main level has a great open space with a gorgeous, newly remodeled cook's kitchen and wood burning fireplace in the adjacent living room. There is a private deck with BBQ shadowed by the towering Ponderosa Pines. The dining area also enjoys the warmth of the fireplace and can seat up to eight guests.
For entertainment, the living room has a TV, and the recreation facilities and main lodge offer complimentary WiFi.
Black Butte Ranch is a sprawling, family-friendly getaway in the heart of Central Oregon. Please be aware that at check-in, the resort will collect a $5 per person, per day fee that unlocks a world of amenities right within the gates! Canoeing with 3 generations was wonderful. So was the Depot.
The home was very comfortable, and well appointed with just about everything you would need. Plenty of room to accommodate 8 people comfortably. Everything you need is available, short of cooking spices (bring your own) and basic things like tin-foil. Neighbors are quiet and respectful.
The place was cool except for the fact that we had to call to get the wifi to work, somebody came out toast it up. There were too few towels for only 6 guest, the hot water wasn't hot, we had to call to have someone come out and turn up the heat on the hot water heater. The stairs have no hand rail for those that need one and the lighting on the exterior of the building was non existent. Had to use cell phone light to get up the stairs and enter the home. . Other than all that the rest of black butte was sweet 2.5 stars for what we paid and what we received

We planned a vacation to Chelan this year, but due to fires (literally on the day we were supposed to arrive) we had to look for a different place. Having previously enjoyed a Sunriver getaway, we thought Black Butte would be something interesting to try.
This was a last minute booking and we had been lucky to get a place at all. The Vacasa staff was very helpful and got us in. Please be mindful however that this particular agency seems to be busy and you might have to wait for an agent to call you back (they don't seem to pick up), so be patient.
As is often the case with rental properties, the pictures are much more beautiful than the property itself. The place is just a-ok. Nothing super nice, but not super horrible either. The best thing about it (if you have not been to Black Butte before) is that it is 1 min walk away from a pool. This is a walk-to only pool (no parking), so there is no one there - awesome!
The rest is all as you would expect - good kitchen, everything works.
We had a few complaints that we voiced to Vacasa. Hopefully, these are addressed by your stay:
1. The place was a bit grimey (carpets, cobwebs, dust) and the extra bedding/towels cleanliness was questionable at times.
2. The beds are super uncomfortable
3. The linens are old and cheap (almost see-through) and pillows might as well not be there
All in all, it just seemed like the owner has not been there in about a year. So, it was ok, we survived and enjoyed our vacation. However, if these things could be addressed, it would be that much better.
