About Carol McSwain

Having loved Colorado from the very first time my family and I visited when I was just a young girl, I knew then, that Colorado was where I wanted to live when I grew up. And so, at the age of 20, over 40 years ago, I moved to the place of my dreams.

When my mother would come to visit me during the summers, Estes Park was one place that she wanted to visit each year. Her love of the mountains, especially the charm of Estes Park and the peaceful serenity and beauty the mountains especially Rocky Mountain National Park is something that we both shared. Which is the reason, when I had the chance to purchase Two Pines on Shady Lane, I felt this was one opportunity I just couldn't pass up.

My family and I love to visit Estes Park whenever we can. We love our home and the close proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park not to mention the beauty that surrounds this magical place. This a perfect vacation spot for my family and I believe you will find it to be even better than what you expected as soon as you enter Two Pines on Shady lane.

What makes this house unique

Located on one of several migration paths of the elk, hundreds of which pass through this cozy lane. Elk and deer graze in and around Two Pines and often spend the afternoon resting in the yard. Located just one block off the Peak to Peak Scenic Highway. Here is some of the most picturesque scenery in the world. Two Pines offers all the comforts of home with plenty of room for everyone. This home can easily accommodate up to 8 guests comfortably.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We traveled from Tennessee to enjoy the scenery, the climate and hiking with our daughter and son-in-law and 2 grandchildren. At Two Pines we appreciated the fact that you offer a discount to returning guests. The grandkids had a great time and we enjoyed making memories with them. The activities we enjoyed the most were hiking, shopping and the fireworks on the 4th of July.

Tips to future guests: stop and smell the roses!

Our special message to the host: Thank you for sharing your lovely rental home with us. You have done such a great job in decorating it and making it such a wonderful place to stay. Loved your sconces in the entryway. Saw them at Wynbrier home and got them but had them shipped back to TN.

Lovely home

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this home in Estes Park and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner provides everything you need in terms of kitchen supplies, extra paper products, and even laundry detergent. The laundry was my only small issue. The washer and dryer were coin operated. We like to rent homes with a washer and dryer when we travel because of the convenience if we need to do a load or two. Having to get quarters once we were there was not so convenient...the grocery store isn't too happy about sharing and the banks always seemed to be closed. Anyway, it's a small issue, but I think it would be helpful to inform travelers that the washer and dryer are coin operated prior to arrival so that they can be prepared. Otherwise, we loved the balcony and back deck. We grilled several nights for dinner and used the fire pit, as well. We enjoyed watching the elk stroll by...a mama and her two little ones passed by most days we were there. The house is very spacious and clean. Beds were comfy. Having a garage door opener and access to park our car was great, too. Overall, a great stay and we would recommend this home to others.

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a nice review. I'm always appreciative of my guests who take such good care of Two Pines. We have worked very hard to make our home a place that my guests will want to return time and time again. I am glad that you mentioned my coin-op washer and dryer. Though I do mention that my washer and dryer are coin-op ones in my description, obviously I missed the boat on that and actually had not even thought about mentioning to my my guests to bring quarters. From now on, I will let my guests know to bring quarters for the machines. Thank you again for making Two Pines ion Shady Lane your home away from home while visiting our beautiful town of Estes Park. I look forward to having you and your group back sometime in the future. Have a great Summer!

Great place and love the attention to details!

  • 4 of 5

The house is just how the pictures and description show. it's situated on a nice shady area just a few minutes outside of downtown Estes Park. It's quiet and perfect for a get-away. We noticed right away all of the details Carol has added to the house to make you feel welcome. The kitchen and dining area were our favorite spot to gather everyone. The rest of the house is clean and big enough for a large group to enjoy and still have privacy. I love the small details like providing shampoo and the best home-made soap I've ever smelled - cherry almond! I highly recommend staying at this location. And it's perfect for golfers like us since the main golf course is less than a mile away! A nice bonus. Thank you Carol.

Comfortable and enjoyable accomodations

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nicely decorated and well-kept house; the bedrooms are big and comfortable, the bathrooms are very nice and well stocked with linens, tissues, soap, etc. We enjoyed gathering around the large kitchen/dining area in the mornings and then sitting in the living-room area by the fireplace each night. The outdoor deck area with the gas fire-pit was nice also. The house is easy to find and only a couple of minutes from Estes Park. There are no views of the mountains from the house; however, after spending our days in RMNP we enjoyed just coming back and enjoying the warmth and comfort of this home.

Wedding Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We were so impressed with the beauty of this home. It was the perfect place as we prepared for our daughter's wedding day. There was plenty of comfortable room for our family. Thank you so much for also providing a kitchen that was so adequately equipped with everything that we needed. The game room was also a wonderful place for fun family times. Thank you again, the Claborn family

Very nice property

  • 5 of 5

The house was just admit was described on the web page. The owner was very quick to respond to my emails. The kitchen was fully furnished with anything you would need from small things to a waffle maker and a coffee bean grinder. Very clean and beautifully decorated. A nice location not far from downtown Estes park and Rocky Mountain national park. Would totally stay there again and recommend it to friends.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very nice review. I have worked very hard to make sure that my guests are made to feel welcome and comfortable during their stay and have worked very hard to stock my vacation home as I stock my own home. I always appreciate my guests who take care of my home as they would their own, and I could tell, that though your group was quite large, my home was treated with the utmost respect. I look forward to having you stay again in the future. Have a great Summer!
