About the property

On the Banks of the Brule River

This is a one of a kind opportunity for those who love the outdoors and nature. Walk out the front door and there is the famous Brule River in your front yard. A five minute drive down the road brings you to the shores of beautiful Lake Superior and the mouth of the Brule River.

This historic piece of property was homesteaded in 1893 with the current house being built in 1947. This well kept, clean four bedroom home offers three bedrooms upstairs and one on the main floor. The main floor has a quarter size bath with a full bath upstairs.

The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, bakeware, tableware, utensils and offers a stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. There is a gas grill available for your use.

The living room has a TV with cable installed. Local phone service is available for emergencies and is capable of accepting all incoming calls. Outgoing calls can only be local unless you have a pre-paid phone card. Internet services are provided April through October.

No linens are provided. While all of the beds have a mattress protector and a clean fitted sheet, renters will need to bring their own pillows, sleeping bags, blankets, etc. Towels, washcloths, dishcloths, also, are not provided. Throughout the home are beautiful terrazo floors... bringing slippers is always a good idea.

You will love the peace and quiet this property has to offer. The soothing sounds of the river will relax you as you sit on the covered front porch and take in the beauty of this secluded setting.

Beautiful spot on the Brule

  • 5 of 5

This property offers a beautiful and private spot on the Brule river. The home and property is in great condition and offers enough room for multiple people to stay. There is no air conditioning in the home; we stayed in August and the weather just happened to cool down during our stay there. I would imagine it could get a bit uncomfortable if the temperature was in the 80's +. There are large fans in each of the bedrooms which is a great plus though. You need to bring your own linens, pillows, towels etc. but that didn't bother any of us. The only other potential downfall was that we had zero cell phone reception while at the home. They did have wireless set up but it didn't really work for the majority of the time we were there. This didn't really bother us as it allowed us to "disconnect" while we were there. We traveled to Duluth and Bayfield during our stay and this property was a great location for making these day trips. We made lots of great memories with the two other couples that came with us and our young toddlers. Before we left, we already started talking about trying to get back there again some day.

Perfect all around

Absolutely wonderful place to stay and we will for sure be back. It is a slice of paradise and perfect for true rest, fun and relaxation. The river is therapeutic and the house couldn't be more perfect. Thank you!

Quiet relaxing get away

  • 5 of 5

Spent the weekend at this relaxing location with family of 8. We had plenty of room for all and enjoyed morning coffee on the front porch, listening to the sounds of the Brule River that was just steps from the house. The house and property is very clean and well supplied with everything you might need for your stay. The owners were very responsive to all questions. There is no AC, but each room has a large fan available for use. Being so close to Lake Superior, it was quite cool in the evenings anyway. Superior/Duluth are only about 30 minutes away - so had access to restaurants, breweries and grocery stores. We would definitely come back!

Very serene setting

  • 4 of 5

Overall a great property. Our only complaint was that pillows were note provided. We were told to bring our own linens, but we were not told that we needed to bring our own pillows.

We couldn't have imagined a better place to stay for our annual trip. It had everything our group of 5 needed, including (and the weather cooperated) a nice firepit out back for a few great evening fires. The beds were great, kitchen and dining had ample space. The shower and restroom were neat and clean. The living room had a great fireplace that provided a little extra heat as we watched some football on the TV Friday and Saturday night. The cabin is not close to any restaurants, which was perfect for us. We wanted the peace and quiet, stars and darkness. The owners were terrific about getting back to us with any quick questions we had. In short: we loved it and will be booking again.

Birthday tradition

  • 5 of 5

My brother, cousin and I steelhead fish for our birthdays. This place was the best we've stayed at in the Brule area, comfortable, clean and easy fishing access.
