McGaheysville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Full Baths (Sleeps 6-10)

This classic cabin is on a beautiful wooded lot overlooking a creek and the upper mountain golf course, close to everything, and with winter views of the slopes. The location within the resort is ideal.

The cabin is a great space for two families, small groups, and kids of all ages.

The cabin features three levels of living space, four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a well-appointed kitchen, a rec room with 42' flat screen and Apple TV, a playroom for the kids, a flat driveway (a luxury around here in the winter), and a large wrap-around deck.

The main level has an open floor plan, spacious great room, vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams, and plenty of windows with mountain views from everywhere. It's a classic A-frame style decked out with modern furniture and fixtures, a 42-inch flat-screen TV, and blue-ray DVD player (Netflix streaming included). The great room opens to the kitchen, which includes stainless steel appliances and a large granite island w/ 3-seat bar. The main level also includes two bedrooms (queen and 2-twin), and a full bathroom.

The upper-level loft is a comfortable and private third bedroom (master/king) and full bathroom.

The finished lower level includes a small bedroom with beautiful custom built-in twin bunk beds, a spacious rec/family room with a futon (double bed equivalent), club chairs, a 42-inch flat-screen TV, Apple TV (Netflix streaming included), an air hockey table, a full bathroom, and a playroom. Read our reviews. The kids love this space!

- For the kids -

Every vacation home has a few board games and a deck of cards (this home is no exception), but we know how excited our own kids are when they find something new... so our playroom is stocked with blocks, dinosaurs, cars, puzzles, books, crayons... etc. So there is plenty to keep even the little ones entertained on a rainy day. We also have an assortment of gear (pack and play, foot stools, booster seat, etc.) to lighten your load and make your stay more comfortable. Please ask if you have questions about the availability of any specific items.

- Amenities -

We designed and furnished this cabin with our own family in mind. We love the outdoors and open spaces, and we love the look (from the outside) of a classic rustic cabin... But inside we wanted CLEAN (our home ALWAYS will be) and we wanted modern decor and amenities. We offer high speed wireless internet access, two flat-screens TVs, blue-ray/DVD player, Apple TV (Netflix streaming included), and a fully stocked kitchen for all your culinary needs.

- Things to do -

We're located near the top of the Massanutten Resort, not more than five minutes from all resort activities including the ski slope, indoor/outdoor water park, year-round tubing, two golf courses, go-karts, mini-golf, ice skating (seasonal), horseback riding, fishing ponds, playgrounds, and fantastic hiking. We have also purchased summer passes to the mountain-top outdoor heated pool for all of our guests. And of course, you can venture outside the resort to the nearby Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah River, Luray Caverns, local wineries, lavender farm... etc. Options for outdoor entertainment in The Valley are endless.

- We make it easy -

We always provide our guests with linens and towels, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, and other cleaners. We also provide starter sets of paper products like paper towels and toilet paper. Although we don't inventory other items, some essentials often stay stocked such as assorted spices, cooking oil, sweeteners… etc.

Just pack your clothes, a little food and drink, and your family and friends... and we'll always provide you with a great place to stay for your Massanutten vacation.

About Matt Carrier

We met at James Madison and live in Northern Virginia with our three children. We volunteer at school, church, and with youth sports. We spend as little time as possible waiting in Tyson's Corner traffic.

We started coming back to the valley a few years ago and found Massanutten to be the perfect weekend vacation spot for our family. This was something that I definitely did not anticipate as a ski instructor here in 1999.

We were very excited to purchase this home in the Summer of 2012, and have had fun preparing a great space to share with our friends and our guests.

Matt Carrier purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Matt Carrier chose Shenandoah Valley

We love the activities that Massanutten Resort provides. We really like the look and feel of this home, the layout is great for our family and friends, and the location in the resort is perfect!

What makes this cabin unique

The views, large flat driveway, and our playroom equipped with enough goodies for our youngest guests.

Beautiful home in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son, and I spent the week at this beautiful home, and couldn't be happier! The home itself is modern and recently upgraded, and beautifully appointed with all the right amenities. The space is very clean and comfortable, and was large enough to accommodate much more than my little family of 3! The location is central to all of what Massanutten has to offer, such as the waterpark, go-karts, mini-golf, and family adventure park. We had one rainy day during our stay, but my son had plenty to keep him occupied in the basement! A great selection of toys, books, and games that should keep any kid busy for at least a few hours! I can't wait to come back during the winter for skiing and snowboarding! The owners have taken great care in ensuring their guests have what they need, and have provided an extremely comprehensive list of what to do, where to eat, and what they recommend for families and groups of all ages and sizes. Upon check-out, my husband accidentally left an item of value in the home, and the owner notified us almost immediately. We can't wait to go back!

We spent the week at the "tree house" my son calls it. He started cheering when we pulled the truck into the driveway. When you park your car you park a little higher than the house itself and walk down a 4 step drop to the deck that takes you in the house or wraps around for a spectacular tree top view. This property drops off so fast that when your on the porch you are in the tippy tops of the trees. My son absolutely loved this. The deck is very sturdy and has very safe railings so even the smallest kid could not fit thru. We are a small family. Just my wife, son, and myself stayed. So, we had a ton of space in this very large three story cabin. We plan to come with our extended family and even friends next time. There is a large loft master bedroom with a king size bed that is the best getaway area for the parents. Two bedrooms on the main floor with three beds total. A couple couches that double as beds on the main floor. One futon and a private kids bedroom with nautical style bunks with their own bunk lights in the basement. And The downstairs play room and bunk beds are really nice. My son did not want to leave the basement. Every couple minutes, "dad, can I show you something else in the basement?". We will return to stay. There was no shortage of things to do with the kids. We did the adventure climbing park, indoor water park, fishing, go karting, bungy sling jumping, and drove out to some of the local breweries to full up growlers for evening enjoyment. I highly recommend staying here, especially if you have a large family.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful and convenient location!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely long weekend at the "Massanutten for Kids" home that lives up to it's name! We were 2 families with 5 children from infant to 10 years (between the 2). The house was plenty spacious for both families and very nice to have a separate play space for the children in the basement - allowing the parents to have breathing space upstairs. The house is very conveniently located in a picturesque spot with plenty of wildlife to be seen outside your door. (Our kids were thrilled to see a possum, groundhog, and multiple deer.) There are lots of tourist spots nearby, as well. We made day trips to the national park the lavender/petting zoo farm, and the water park saved us on a rainy day. Overall we had a wonderful weekend and would gladly return to this home again!

Great Place!

  • 4 of 5

The house was clean, comfortable, well-located and just great to stay in. Everything was easy to find, everything worked, and it was well stocked.

The only down side was that we were told the pool was part of the rental and on the day we wanted to stay on Massanutten the pool was closed and no other pool on the facility would allow us in. We were very disappointed about this because we wanted to use the pool. So, we changed our schedule and went to the waterpark.

Nonetheless, this doesn't take away from how nice the house is.

Still the best

  • 5 of 5

This is the fourth time my wife and I have stayed in this cabin, either with one or two other couples. The location and facilities are outstanding. The owner was nice enough to order spectacular weather for us (I'm sure he wishes he could really do this!). As always, the cabin was spotless and provided everything we needed to have a great time. While we husbands played golf for two days, our wives went off and "did their thing." There is so much to do within a short distance of the cabin, that there's something for everyone. I look forward to returning, knowing that each visit here will be relaxing and very enjoyable.

It might be alittle far from JMU, But it is well worth It!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have rented a place in Massanutten while visiting our daughter. Let me assure you this home was even better than I thought it would be. It's a large enough home for 8 comfortably. The beds were pretty comfortable, new appliances, nicely decorated, beautiful outside deck. We even stopped at the gas station at the entrance of the resort and bought Valleys fried chicken! Delicious! If you are even thinking about renting a place for parents weekend or graduation, I suggest you rent this place ASAP! It will be gone before you know it!
