Why J Kelly Scherer chose Asheville Area

My mountain cabin is a rare find and one that I plan to keep for many years of enjoyment. The cabin is gorgeous, immaculate, serene, and lacks for nothing. It is located just outside of Asheville, NC, one of America's coolest towns. While just 10 miles from downtown, it sits on a mountainside that looks out across multiple ridges of mountains and valleys dotted with farmland and estates. It has the best of all worlds - private in its location, and close to everything that Asheville has to offer!

What makes this cabin unique

The mountain cabin is at the end of a private road, perched high on a mountainside, with unobstructed year-round views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its open floor plan and peaceful setting make it perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the Blue Ridge. The house is immaculately clean and tidy.

The cabin is perfectly situated for exploring Asheville and WNC!

The cabin is only 11 miles from Pack Square in the very center of Asheville. The picturesque drive into town takes 15 minutes on main roads.

The cabin sits in the middle of hundreds of world class hiking and biking trails. All are an easy 30 to 60 minutes' drive away, door to trailhead. The Appalachian Trail at Hot Springs is 35 minutes. Great Smoky Mountains National Park; Shining Rock Wilderness, Mills River, Linville Gorge, Mt. Mitchell, Bent Creek, Cold Mountain, etc. are all 40 minutes. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 25 minutes and there are multiple trails off it.

River rafting/tubing/ kayaking, zip lining, rock climbing, fishing and golfing are 30 minutes or less. Downhill skiing, snowboarding and tubing is 35 miles from the cabin.

The Biltmore Estate is only 25 minutes away. Stay one week and receive a free day-pass to Biltmore! Waynesville is 25 minutes. And, Cherokee is 45 minutes.

Being just outside of Asheville allows you to feel away from it all but also be right in the middle of everything.

Tranquility and Seclusion

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Top of the Line for a three night long weekend getaway. What a great cabin! Quiet and secluded location at the end of the private drive. Great view from the deck. Kitchen was well stocked with everything needed for cooking at the house. Hot tub was great for relaxing and reflecting on the days' events. Convenient to Asheville. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful Mountain Top Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful cabin has a wonderful mountain top view of the Smoky Mountains. It is only 15 minutes from downtown Asheville and about an hour from rafting the Nantahala River. We enjoyed cooking in the fully equipped kitchen and using the gas grill on the back porch. We also took advantage of the hot tub. Everything was great! The only draw back is limited data on the WiFi so be prepared to use your cell phone instead of an ipad. I highly recommend the cabin.

Beautiful views and cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 (plus our dog) enjoyed a 4 day stay in this adorable cabin. We found everything to be just as advertised and were very pleased when we arrived. Kelly was super quick to respond if we had any questions and was very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!

Amazing view and dog friendly

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I planned a trip with two other couples and our dog Carson. We couldn't have had a better experience with Kelly and his cabin. The view was incredible. I especially enjoyed the breakfast table on the corner of the deck where I had my morning coffee and afternoon IPA. The hot tub was clean and in working order (a requirement for our group). Getting into town for a visit to Wicked Weed took about 15-20 minutes. The only drawback for getting to town was that there were no Ubers/Lyfts available in the area, so we had to drive.

Overall it was a great weekend away from Atlanta. Kelly was attentive to our needs and made sure we had all the appropriate info to get easy access to the cabin.

Beautiful Views, Convenient Location

  • 3 of 5

Our stay at the cabin was very enjoyable! The views were lovely and you could see for miles. The house was very well kept and spacious and it was only about a 15-20 minute drive to downtown Asheville. The only thing that would have made our stay better would have been if the hot tub was working. It would have been great to have someone check to make sure it was working properly before guests arrive. We were looking forward to being able to relax in the hot tub and it was a large part of why we picked the cabin. Hopefully, it will be fixed for the next renters!

Owner's Response: I sincerely apologize that the hot tub did not work during your stay. Thank you, however for notifying me of the problem when you first noticed it was not working properly. My assistant came that same day, and I the next, but neither of us was able to get the hot tub control panel to work. So, I had it professionally replaced 3 days after your visit; in time for the next guests. I strive to always fulfill guests' expectations and my own high standards, one of which is to ensure that I can deliver on everything I advertise about the cabin. This was one of those unfortunate things where the hot tub control panel broke between the prior guest and your arrival. It appeared to be working in our pre-inspection because the jets were running and the temperature was at 90 degrees – where we typically keep it for a guest's arrival. But again, I'm sorry it was not working properly for your weekend visit. I'm happy you enjoyed everything else about the cabin, though. Thanks for your stay.

Astounding view, modern, well-appointed, and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Tremendous experience staying in this modern, beautiful home. As others have noted, the view is incredible. Thankfully, the home is a joy to stay in, as well. Wonderful rustic feel, but with modern touches. An absolute joy. There were 6 of us, and there was plenty of space. Close proximity to Asheville and Ingles grocery store make this place a total winner! Note: floors on the 1st floor must have just been cleaned and waxed--they were super-slippery, so if you don't like to wear shoes in the house, be sure to pack your grippy slippers :) .

This beautiful cabin is located just 10 easy miles from downtown Asheville - so close that you can drop in to the city in minutes. But, what is so amazing is that, while the mountain cabin lies just outside of Asheville, its peace and serenity feels like you're miles from anywhere. So, plan to spend some time at the cabin relaxing in its luxurious accommodations, peace and beauty.

But, you'll also be glad you're so close to Asheville because it is one of America’s gems! Asheville enjoys a beautiful setting, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a temperate climate, and a tolerant, diverse people. Asheville has a thriving arts community, numerous outstanding restaurants, local wineries and breweries, year-round festivals, and a multitude of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, rock-climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and sightseeing.

America’s Largest Home, the Biltmore Estate is only 13 miles away! It is absolutely amazing to behold, and its popularity is well-deserved.

The Blue Ridge Parkway, one of America’s most scenic drives winds through Asheville to Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain in the eastern United States.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is only 30 minutes from the cabin. It is America's most visited national park, and the United Nations has designated Great Smoky Mountains National Park as an International Biosphere Reserve. The Great Smoky Mountains are among the oldest mountains in the world, formed 200-300 million years ago with an unmatched biodiversity.

There is so much to do in and around Asheville, you'll honestly wish you could spend more time here. But one thing that's certain, you'll enjoy every moment you spend at this beautiful and relaxing mountain cabin.
