About Montgomery Bay Lodge

Our family is originally from Lower Michigan, but relocated to the Milwaukee area a few years ago making the western Upper Peninsula a viable option for our recreational pursuits.

Montgomery Bay Lodge purchased this house in 2012

Why Montgomery Bay Lodge chose Lake Gogebic

We fell in love with this property because of the privacy and tranquility it provides, its perfect location, and the abundance of natural beauty and wildlife. It is rare to visit without seeing 2-3 Bald Eagles fishing our bay!

What makes this house unique

Montgomery Bay Lodge has the perfect location: sunset views, a protected bay, 400 ft of private frontage, direct access to snowmobile / ATV trails, and within a mile of gas and a public boat launch.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for a great week at your home! What a great way for our "extended" family to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. We found the home had plenty of space for our group of 10 and something for everyone. The guys had fun hunting in the local area, playing cards & watching football in the lower level. The wives really enjoyed the views over the lake, cooking Thanksgiving Dinner in the gourmet kitchen, and taking day trips to Boulder Junction for the Winter Festival and shopping.

Another excellent vacation at Montgomery Bay!

  • 5 of 5

Hi Jason: We once again enjoyed our stay at your place this year for what is becoming an anniual event for us. The house was perfect again, everything was clean and in place. The views of the lake at sundown in February are awesome! Even on the days when the local trails were less than great, we trailered the sleds just an hour North to Greenland for a day of excellent riding. The last day we left from the driveway on the snowmobiles and rode up into the Porcupine Mountains, saw the spetacular view of Lake Superior, and even visited Lake in the Clouds. We thank you for allowing us to stay at your place. We are already making plans for Lake Gogebic 2018.

Excellent house to retreat to when the snow flies and you want to snowmobile on Lake Gogebic

  • 5 of 5

This was the fifth time I have stayed at this property over the past few years. My latest was January 2017. All of my stays have been during January or February. So I only see the house in the heart of the winter months. We love it and will stay here again next year. Its clean, quiet and spacious. The layout is perfect for multiple couples or large families to stay. The beds are great. The bathrooms are clean. The kitchen is stocked wonderfully for families to use (plates, cups, utensils etc.). Great bed linens and towels. The dining and great room are perfect for eating or sitting around telling stories about our adventures on the trails. We rarely use the lovely walk-out basement, but its finished very nicely and has just as nice of space as the two upper floors. This huge house is modern and simply a joy to stay in. The owner is wonderful and responds quickly if there is a question. The only thing this house is missing is a fireplace and Wi-Fi. But other than that, I am not sure what else you could need. Its perfect even without those. I will be back....again.

Perfect for our Company Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This spacious, well-appointed home was the perfect setting for our departmental retreat for six guys. There was plenty of comfortable seating for meetings and meals with an excellent view out onto the lake. Jason, the owner, was great to work with and provided helpful information about where to park our rented snowmobiles and other matter.. Trail access was easy as was access to the frozen lake. This is the kind of home where you could envision living year-round. I highly recommend it to anyone planning a group trip.

I loved the house and how roomy it was for a family of four and a family of six.

  • 5 of 5

The home had everything you need when renting a vacation property: linens, towels, some supplies, and kitchenware. It is nicely decorated and the beds were comfortable. Everyone had room to spread out. The kids especially liked their own basement area which included their own bathroom. The shore line is rocky so make sure you take water shoes. The windows and view are awesome but it can get a little hot inside but knowing this we brought our own fans which when added to the fans the property provided, kept the temperature inside comfortable. Some of the towels were a little musty smelling but nothing that a little bleach couldn't fix. We loved staying here and would definitely recommend it to anyone who asks. Thank you for sharing your up north home with us!
