So, for a small extra fee, you'll have access to an Olympic-sized indoor and outdoor pool, private beach, tennis and basketball courts, a putting green, playground, fitness center, and the marina where you can rent a boat! The home is situated just off Aloha Drive, a very prestigious street that's intercepted by peaceful lagoons, like Venice. During your stay, go boating through these lagoons and float right up to the house; most area homes require 30 minutes to boat out, but this neighborhood allows much quicker access to the lake!

Great location, comfortable and perfect for our family

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 6 nights at the end of July at this house. Overall, I was happy with our stay and would return. The location was perfect, especially if you have a boat as it has a private boat dock just steps from the backyard. I used the hot tub and pool table every day. The beds were comfortable. We had a question about where to park our boat trailer, which we needed ask the owner shortly after we got there. I left him a VM and he returned my call promptly.

There were a few little things that need to be fixed, but nothing that would prevent me from not staying there again. The drawers in one of the downstairs bedrooms were coming undone, the kitchen trash can didn’t open all the way up when we stepped on the foot handle and the toilet seat in the upstairs hall bathroom was slightly wiggly. Also, one of the refrigerator shelves would not hold much weight without falling down. These were little issues that could probably be fixed easily and were overlooked with the comfort, location and overall niceness with the rest of the house.

Also, there is no AC, but we were not too bothered by that since it’s common for houses in the mountains to not have AC. There were fans upstairs and leaving the windows open at night helped us stay comfortable.

I hope to return again someday.

Great house but...

  • 4 of 5

Three adult couples (siblings with spouses) shared the home for a long weekend. We had a great time. The house worked perfectly for us. There were just a few minor irritations. The one wine opener we could find was broken. The one fire stick (for starting bbq) we could find was empty. There were some lightbulbs missing in lamps we wanted to use so we moved them from other lamps. The check out instructions I was emailed were different than the instructions in the house. I called the management company number provided, needed to leave a message, but no one called me back.

Initially the Home seemed very clean but during our stay we did notice cobwebs and mold on the bathroom ceiling.

Poor value for the quality of the accommodations

  • 2 of 5

The house was dated and in a state of disrepair that made it a poor value compared to other houses we have rented in the Tahoe Keys in the recent years. First, there is no air conditioning and it was hot and stuffy, even with windows open in the main floor in the afternoons. The ceiling fans were old and barely circulated any air so they did not help. Drawers in the kitchen and bathroom were broken and not on their tracks so even opening them a little would cause them tilt and fall forward and almost dump their contents. The toilet seat in the half bathroom was broken and it shifted sideways making it difficult to use. The dishwasher was loud and didn’t clean the dishes well and they often had to be hand washed. The dryer would take 2-3 full 70 minute cycles to get the clothes dry. The contact paper in the bathrooms was dirty and rusty looking, showing it was very old and had not been replaced at reasonably appropriate intervals (like in years and years). The mattress in the master bedroom was so old that one side of it was starting to breakdown and one of us had to literally sleep in the center of the bed so that that we didn’t sleep tilted toward the floor on that side. The downstairs bunkbeds were unsturdy and the entire thing wiggled loosely making it seem very dangerous to climb in and out of the bed. The downstairs closet doors were broken and could not be opened and shut. Even the kitchen trash can was broken and some of the towels were frayed and looked like garage rags. This would have all been tolerable if the price of the rental was economical, but the price was as much or more than any other vacation rental in the Keys and it was simply not a good value. Many of the problems (excluding the air conditioning) would be inexpensive fixes, easily performed (some as simple as replacing frayed towels and a broken trashcan) but it doesn’t seem that even the simplest home maintenance has been performed in a great while. It was clean and well located but was not a good value, especially compared to other rentals in the same area available at the same or a better price.

Nice house, good location for keys / boating. Some minor repairs badly needed.

  • 4 of 5

Everything was good, except for some very worn out / broken kitchen drawers.

Cabinets are good solid hardwood, but they really need a bit of refinishing / refurbishing with some new hardware so the drawers actually work again.

Otherwise the stay was very good and enjoyable.

Great property, perfect for large group

  • 5 of 5

9 of us stayed here over New Years, and it worked out perfectly. Sleeps 9 comfortably (4 Queen Size Beds, 1 small pull out sofa)... Be warned 2 of those queens are bunk beds, so not necessarily the best place for light sleepers or folks who can't climb up a short ladder, but worked out well for our group of 30 somethings. House fully equipped with all the cooking necessities, incl. pots, pans, traditional coffee maker (grounds, not K-Cups), salt/pepper, large fridge, dishwasher, etc., as well as a working gas grill outside. We loved the large island as a gathering place and for food prep.

Hot tub worked great; we had a couple questions when we first got there on how to heat it up, and Bruce was super responsive and clarified the instructions. If you have a large group, recommend bringing a couple of extra beach towel's up, as they ask you not to use the white shower towels provided outside.

Location: Fantastic. Loved the quiet of Tahoe Key, and you're 5 minutes from Raley's supermarket, 10-15 minutes from Safeway, and about 20-25 minutes to get to Heavenly/Stateline.

Just a tip: TV connects to the internet via BlueTooth player, so it's 'smart' but a little cumbersome; if you want to use it for Netflix, YouTube, might be easier to BYO Chromecast/AppleTV and link with that.As far as speakers go, you can connect your phone to the Stereo speakers via BlueTooth.

Great stay, and we'll definitely be back next time we're in South Lake!
