A little could go a long way

  • 3 of 5

The house needs TLC. The floor is varnished plywood that is screwed down. There are areas that is raised up and will scrape/cut a bare foot. We wore our shoes constantly in the house. The floor also creaks loudly when you walk on it. 2 beds in the enclosed patio area creak and moan when you turn over, keeping others awake. The beds did not have top sheets. The window coverings in the enclosed patio are some kind of curtain screwed or stapled over the windows. They don't fit well and look horrible. They couldn't even be bothered to purchase curtain rods. There is only one true bedroom in the house. The other bedroom is in the garage and does not have a bathroom. Coffee pot and coffee, but no filters. The ice machine makes a racket, but does not produce ice. The garbage disposal does not work. Chairs are broken. Went to pull a chair back from the table and the arms and back came right off. It had just been sitting on the posts. This is a cute house, with a little TLC it could be wonderful. I was so disappointed in the condition of the property. I get it is a mountain home, but spend a little money and take some pride of ownership.

unusual house in a beautiful setting.

  • 4 of 5

Interesting house bedroom is outside in the garage, which would have been helpful to know ahead of time. Lots of great common space and great outdoor space. Unfortunately one of the the bedrooms was still unmade when we arrived, even though a number of fees were tacked on to the rental price to cover things like that. No response when we called the property management company.

We used to have a cabin in this general area, and really love this environment, so were happy to be back here showing it to our grandkids.

Secluded with Beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and 2 girls loved it here. We spent one day walking around and picking up crystals in the roads. It rained for 7 days but we still had fun. Will definitely try and book again. Was clean and had everything you need. Dont plan on keeping your truck clean its a very nice drive up a mountain on a dirt road ! Can see Pikes Peak and it's right next to Crystal Peak. More deer than you can count. 5 bucks came up to my daughters and let them feed them an apple.

A few concerns

  • 2 of 5

Disappointments here included no workable internet, a very old dishwasher that wouldn't finish without some babysitting, and some poorly insulated windows covered with some clearly DIY hangings.

If you can get last that, the views are good, the property is nicely secluded, and it's reasonably comfortable and stocked.

I probably would have given 4/5 stars if they'd had the internet up and running. But on this trip internet was unfortunately much more important to us than I would have liked, and the place didn't deliver on that promise. We were able to barely manage with the 1-2 bars of T-Mobile 4G on my phone, but not well enough to do much other than check weather or do a little late research on things to do in the area.

Owner's Response: So sorry to hear that the internet was being temperamental, we did check it out, and it was working at that time. We suspect when people try to use their cells phones vs their lap tops that the configurations are a little bit different. But we will keep a close eye on it, and have our provider out to check it as well. The dishwasher has been repaired. Thanks for letting us know about that. And one last thing the windows are in a sunroom, which are not insulated, so the curtains are there to keep some heat in there if anyone is sleeping in there.. Again so sorry about the internet. I hope you did enjoy your trip in spite of these things.

Just a little disappointing

  • 2 of 5

Not what we expected....the third bedroom was in the garage which made us disconnected from part of our family... We had issues with the following: dishwasher, garbage disposal, dining room chairs, door handle to bedroom in garage, toilet and we only had wifi 1 out of a 7 day stay and there was no place to put trash other than two large trash cans in the utility room which wasn't enough room for a family of 8. We were informed there was a hot tub but that was a miscommunication from the property manager... That was a let down!!!! Some of the issues we had were fixed with 24 hrs of reporting... The decor could use some help also.... Overall it was clean and spacious but not really what we were expecting.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review the cabin. We are extremely sorry to hear that you were disappointed. We would like to offer you a 10% discount off of any future stay with our company to help compensate for the inconveniences that you experienced. A note to future guests: -The third bedroom is in a room off of the garage- not IN the garage. -A storm knocked the internet out during this guest's stay. Being in a rural area, sometimes it takes a while to be repaired. - In order to avoid bears visiting the property, we do not have an outside dumpster. There are large trash cans with lids that should be sufficient, but if they do get full please call us and we will be happy to come and pick them up. -The home does not have a hot tub, nor was it ever advertised to. Unfortunately, a few days before this guest's arrival they emailed to ask if there was one, and I mistakenly responded affirmative.
