This has been our family ski condo and have spent the last 6 Christmases all together here. Now that all 4 our children have left home, we made the decision to let others start building their memories as we have (plus my wife wants to go somewhere warm!), so as of Nov. 8, it is still available for Christmas, New Year's and all other holidays.
My wife and I moved our family to Hayden Lake, ID from San Diego almost 22 years. Hayden Lake is just a little over an hour South of Schweitzer Mountain and we fell in love with Schweitzer Mountain and Sandpoint. We have 4 children that are all active skiers/snowboarders and Schweitzer has always been our favorite mountain, anywhere! We wanted a true second home and this condo was perfect. We chose this condo while it was still being framed and, in terms of creating great family memories, it was the best investment we ever could have made. Since the first year we purchased it, we've spent every Thanksgiving and Christmas together with our children, and now 7 grandchildren.
We've never rented to the public before, but since our children are all out of the house now, my wife and I decided that we'd like to spend some of the winter in warmer climates. We'd love to have you start to build the memories that we have!
Dan Baker purchased this condo in 2006
Our home is close enough to the runs that we can choose to ski all day, just take a few runs here and there, stop back in for lunch or watch a movie with the grandkids. The Village is within walking distance with the Resort, shops and restaurants. The Village has a great Activity Center for children and adults, with Hermit's Hollow Tubing, Zip Line, ski-school, free afternoon matinees during ski-season, sledding, horseback riding and more. Santa even visits our Condo on Christmas Eve on the mountain's Firetruck!
We use this Condo over Martin Luther King Week-end 2017. It was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. It was perfect for 8 of us, and we still had room for a few more. The bunk room is excellent for kids. Two queen/full lower bunks with a twin upper bunk. Ski storage in the garage was great, and den downstairs with a pullout hide a bed was nice. There was not wifi, which would have been nice, but good to be "unconnected" for little while. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was that I would not say that it is ski in / ski out. We could not find a good way down, to Music chair without hiking up first. We talked with others around the Condo and they said there was not a good way. We just drove to the bottom of Music Chair and it was fine. I am spoiled and have been used to ski in...ski out. We had a great time, the kitchen was great with all one needed. Beautiful Condo.
Condo was beautiful, nice accommodations. Quite and spacious. Slept 8 comfortably nice beds, bring your own pillows. Had trouble with wifi connection. But overall our family loved it, we recommend this place 👍🏻
The condo was everything we hoped for and more. Clean, comfortable and we got fresh snow during our stay. The free shuttle took us to and from the mountain each day we skied. Definitely would recommend to anyone.
It was clear when we arrived, and owner later confirmed, that nobody had been there in a while. There was some sort of leak in the basement, possibly caused by a failed sump pump causing mold growth on the walls of the garage and a very musty smell, luckily isolated to the basement and bonus room adjacent to the garage. Garage floor and carpet in that bonus room was wet, and there was some kind of animal droppings in the corner. Owner was apologetic when we called to notify him of these issues, obviously with a short stay there is nothing that could be done in the mean time. There was also a baseball sized wasp nest in the doorway to the front deck, which we were able to take care of ourselves (glad we noticed before the kids did). The lack of window screens was really more an annoyance than anything, being that there is no AC, having the windows open is a must in the summer... But w/o screens, some bugs get in... I was surprised not that many, but especially after the wasp nest incident, we were on high alert.
On to the positive. Very comfortable accommodations, well appointed large kitchen, and plenty of space. The kitchen has plenty of dishes, pots and pans for large groups. Gorgeous area in the summertime, and very quiet.
With the above issues fixed, which I'm sure they will be, this will once again be a nice, comfortable place to stay, just not the weekend we were there.
We had a perfect stay on the mountain in this incredibly cozy, comfortable home. It was very quick and easy to access the ski area so we had days filled with skiing, coming back to the house for lunch then back to the slopes. Evenings well spent watching Gonzaga win. This lovely home lacks for nothing and we can't wait to return.
Our family had a nice preChristmas stay! We enjoyed watching movies and playing games after a day on the slopes! The kitchen was well set up with all we needed to prepare home cooked meals! The only problem was the incline to get to the condo. Because of snow and ice so we went to town for chains which allowed us to get up the slope. . .sometimes! Even with chains, there was slipping on the ice. All in all this just added to the adventure and, once inside, everything was fine. I would highly recommend this property!!
