About David Oakes
I'm the type of person that likes to get up early and injoy the outdoors. A lot of mornings you will find me paddling around the lake in my kayak. I love the scenery of the finger lakes, I never get tired of the view.
David Oakes purchased this House in 1993
Why David Oakes chose Bradford
When I bought this property it felt like home to me. And it was for along a time. I now live several house down from it still on the lake.
What makes this House unique
Being by a body of water has away of relieving stress. Same thing with paddling a kayak you become very relaxed. So why not combine the two and have a nice relaxing time.

Simple and convenient
Great little vintage cabin. Nothing super fancy or over the top, just plain and simple. It has everything one needs to have for a get away. My kids and I only stayed a weekend, pre-summer crowd. It was quite, kids caught a bunch of panfish right off the dock. My oldest got 70 in one day. We all had a blast and are planning to return.
Comfortable house with adequate space for our family of 4. Stocked with everything we needed, with added bonus of a canoe and paddle boat. Quiet lakefront location, yet only a short drive to the parks and wineries we visited. Beautiful lake views from house and yard and great sunsets! Owner very responsive to questions before and during our visit. Our first time staying in a house, it worked out well, we will do it again.
The house is an adorable rustic cabin that has all the necessary amenities. The lake is beautiful, the sun path or Majestic. The wine trail is great fun
Second time around..
Family gathered for a getaway weekend. Kayaking, fishing, paddle boating...we even brought a fishing boat that we accessed right from the property. We had a campfire, watched the neighbors fireworks, enjoyed the outdoor night sky. Cottage was well appointed and cozy. We grilled and cooked all meals without missing anything we needed.
Considered visiting one of the many local wineries or breweries, but honestly, the cars never left once we parked. WiFi and Dish were available but we were pretty much unplugged the entire weekend.
David the owner is a few cottages down and checks in to see if you need anything. ( very good host).
Side note, I've seen several reviews that mentioned the lake was weedy. Yes it is in spots, but it is a pristine ecosystem that offers much to many. We should all appreciate and nuture nature's balance.
Beautiful and easy
We had a lovely time! David was quick to respond to our questions and everything was smooth sailing. The property is beautiful and we spend a good amount of time on the eater and around the campfire. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is looking for more than just a place to sleep.
Perfect lake house
This house is amazing, has everything you need and the owner was responding very fast; the location is beautiful and it is very close to Watkins Glen State Park
There's several state parks with in a 40 mile drive that have waterfalls, beaches, hiking, concert Saturday and picnicking. The surrounding area has wineries, restaurants sitting on some of the most beautiful lakes. Enjoy lake side dinning.
