Casa Xanadu, more than just a luxurious oasis of comfort to travelers, it welcomes you into a world of service exceeding any 5-star resort with our lush tropical gardens, elegant surroundings, and large, deep swimming pool. Suites come with air conditioning, mini fridge, and pillow top bedding room service, laundry service, tour guide service and we'll even pick you up at the airport and take you back when its time to leave. Designed for tranquility and relaxation, an excellent alternative for families or small groups. Children very welcome indeed. Lots of room for them in our spacious environment.
After being picked up at the Airport in Managua (Free if you reserve one suite for 7 days) you are greeted by Xanadu's Manager Jennifer Fafford. Prior to your arrival, if you leave your phone number, Ms. Marlene Rivas, our customer relations manager, will call to let you know ahead of time things that you can plan on doing while in Granada.
Casa Xanadu provides wonderful suites, not 'rooms' if you please! Each is air conditioned, has its own refrigerator, WiFi internet, TV with Netflix and Amazon Movies, and we service breakfast free to our guests and you can order a wide selection of favourites ranging from Huevos Rancheros to Belgian Waffles (Yes, you are in Nicaragua!) and during your stay our staff will offer same day wash, press & fold your laundry, and they will also do shopping for you if you like. Meanwhile, Marlene will assist in setting up and reserving tours of the many things to do in and around Granada-Lake Nicaragua, the Volcanoes, the grand Masaya Market and beyond. The suites are private and comfortable with pillow top bedding, allergy free pillows and luxurious Egyptian sateen sheets that provide a memorable rest to any wary traveler.
Each suite has a different floor plan and decor. We also provide extra services ranging from deep tissue massage to evening barbecues or special dinners in our gardens by the pool.
Our suites sleep at least 4 persons with one king or queen size bed plus two single beds. Our Convento Suite has two bedrooms with 1 king, 1 queen and 1 single bed such that it can accommodate up to 4 adults and 1 child. Our Mandarin Suite is on 2 floors and features two bathrooms with separate entrances, three bedrooms to accommodate up to six persons. Unlike hotels that typically provide 2 queen beds side-by-side, at Xanadu our suits are grand with 25' high vaulted ceilings, brightly lighted and uniquely arranged for comfort and space.
Last but often first is our wonderful Shiatsu massage specialist who will provide you and your family with a therapeutic massage right in the comfort and privacy of your own suite. Add to that facials, pedicures and...well you get the idea. We're going to spoil you.
During your stay our staff will be responsible to see that you do nothing that resembles work. We will be there as you please and leave you to privacy if you ask. While breakfast daily is included many guests choose an option to have dinners prepared as well and served in the tranquility of our tropical gardens by the pool. Our cooks can also set up and prepare a barbecue for families and groups. Laundry and ironing are done same day. takes care of your laundry while you're out and does grocery shopping even before you arrive. If you need a baby sitter she's good at that, too!
Apart from her responsibilities we will make you aware of the many activities such as tours, places to visit, things to do in and around Granada. We don't want you to miss out, so we have an in-house licensed tour guide who will provide you with assistance in arranging and reserving your tours so you don't have to be bothered. No charge. Our pleasure.
Casa Xanadu is unique with its many tropical gardens, colorful lighted reflecting pond with fountain, various seating areas that merge into the social area by the pool. Here is a dining area, a barbecue, and various places to relax or take a nap, go for a swim or listen to music which plays wirelessly from your smart phone through our music system.
Xanadu is large enough for parties of up to 20 persons, yet it is cozy but it will also seat up to twenty guests. Xanadu is spacious. From the entrance to the pool area takes up the length of one half the length of a city block.
Whether you are a small family, a group of friends traveling together, or a large family having a reunion Casa Xanadu should be where you stay. This is an extended stay residence where Xanadu becomes your home, a place that welcomes you unlike a hotel or rental.
Xanadu's suites are quite large and spacious. Once a colonial home the vaulted ceilings reach 26' (8 meters) at the apex, its suites are cozy and designed to make you want to stay. Our environment ranges from the necessary (WiFi throughout, copy machine & printer, available private phone if needed) to such things as flat screen internet & cable TV, Air Conditioning, sumptuous bedding, a private swimming pool open 24/7 just for you and your family, tropical gardens, music and areas to relax in the warmth of our tropical climate.
Xanadu has been named after Marco Polo's 13th century (circa 1275) report of the fantastic palace of Kublai Khan in Shangdu, China. Xanadu became the English phonetic interpretation of Kahn's palace in Shangdu. I chose this name to convey our promise, our commitment actually, to provide our guests with a very pleasant surprise when they arrive to find more than they had ever expected. Much like Marco Polo might have experienced when he arrived at Shangdu, 13th century China.
Marlene Rivas, Douglass Hughes, Jennifer Fafford purchased this hotel in 2004
Our past guests all agree that our most outstanding quality is our staff. They are incredibly well trained and its very clear that they are very happy with their never ending smiles and readiness to do anything without expecting anything in return.
Casa Xanadu is both unique it its architecture, decor and staff as well as its location in the very heart of the Historic District, while providing a virtual lap of luxury to those who chose to stay at Casa Xanadu.
I highly recommend Casa Xanadu, easy to walk to restaurants, market, the lake, etc. They can arrange excursions for you if you like. No worries. Excellent breakfast served by the pool, wow, what a nice way to start a day. Staff is so pleasant and the place is extremely cleaned. I would stay again in a heart beat. thanks to everyone to make our stay so enjoyable.
Casa xanadu is a wonderful place to stay while in Granada. It is very relaxing and comfortable. The staff is fabulous and makes every effort to make your stay enjoyable. Highly recommend Casa Xanadu.
I would recommend Casa Xanadu to anyone looking for a place to stay. It is ideal for couples, families, and small groups. The staff was absolutely second to none, extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable. The breakfast served each morning is delicious and you couldn't ask for a nicer setting.
We stayed for several days at Casa Xanadu between Christmas and New Years of 2014. We had a lovely time in the wonderful and historic city of Granada. Marlene and the rest of her staff were most accommodating and attentive to our needs. The rooms are quite spacious, beds very comfortable, the breakfasts healthy and delicious and the setting dramatic and luxurious. Marlene was extremely helpful and accommodating while providing information and making reservations for us. This eliminates a lot of stress when travelling in a foreign country and makes for a far more pleasant experience. Casa Xanadu exceeded all expectations and we would certainly stay there on any return trip.
I have visited Granada over ten times since 2006 and have lived in and rented various homes and hotels throughout the city. Casa Xanadu exceeded all expectations and past experiences with accomodations. This time I was traveling with my fiancé and two married friends. We shared the Shandu and Convento suites over six days.
The women who work at the hotel are absolutely fabulous. Attentive, accomodating, expeditious and always with a smile on their faces. Breakfast was abundant and delicious every day with fresh juice, coffee with warm milk, fresh fruit and around eight different main course options, some Nica style and others American style. The rooms were always clean and tidy ... a treat to come home to after a long day out in the sun. The mattresses were comfortable and the linens top quality ... something I cannot remember ever having experienced in Nicaragua. We also used their laundry service which was quick and excellent. I asked that some of our clothes be hung not dried in the machine, and the ladies happily obliged. The pool was lovely and in the shade and the ambience of the hotel in the morning as you eat breakfast poolside or as your sit and chat in the evening is delightful and refreshing.
Marlene is outstanding. She is truly talented, professional and informed. From my constant emails with her months before our trip trying to organize our schedule to any insignificant issues as they arose during our stay, she quick and effective in answering all questions and resolving all concerns. I would follow any and all of her recommendations and trust her input. She is truly a resource and a delight to work with. She took us on a personal tour of Masaya which was informative and all tour companies that she linked us up with were professional and fantastic. Our friends traveling with us had a wonderful experience thanks to her expertise which, as a regular Granada visitor, made me very happy. Our friend is currently three months pregnant, and the hotel as well as all tour guides went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortably being tended to. She even enjoyed an hour long massage! If there was ever any need that the hotel could not meet ... and they were few and far between ... Marlene made sure we were acommodated in some other way.
It is without a doubt that I would stay at Casa Xanadu during another of my visits. We cannot thank Marlene and her team enough for their excellent service! We had a wonderful experience
The Casa Xanadu in the heart of Granada is a wonderfule travelers oasis. Granda itself is a wondrful city, but as every traveler knows, after a long day you look forward to be able to return to a home base and relax. The Casa Xanadu is perfectly located so that you can pop in and out as you please never more than a few blocks from all the sights, sounds and food of the area. The place itself is beautiful, comfortable and private. What really makes it is the owner and his fantastic staff. The staff helped us navigate activities, dining, money changing, food choices and the list goes on. We saw the very best of this region wuth their help and our trip would not have been the same without them. I will be back!
Casa Xanadu is a luxurious residence centrally located in the historic district of Granada, only a few steps to the oldest colonial church, Convento San Francisco where Granada's main museum is located. 2 blocks from central park & several other restored churches, museums, workshops. Casa Xanadu is within a very short walk to restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlors, night spots and saloons. Yet we are 2 blocks from the main walking mall known as La Calzada street, close enough to be there in 5 minutes walking yet far enough away not to hear late night revelers.
