A bright and airy three bedroom cottage, Slimbridge includes a first floor bedroom with queen size bed and first floor bath with shower. The upstairs master has a pillow top king size bed with direct access to a full bath. The third bedroom, also upstairs, has twin beds. A fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, glass top stove/oven, microwave and plenty of dishes, pots and pans, cutlery and small appliances (toaster, blender, slow-cooker, griddle, etc). Cable TV, High-speed Internet access and local and long distance phone are included. All windows have screens to allow the sea breezes to cool the house, but should the weather turn excessively warm, the house has central air conditioning. The living room has a flat screen TV and DVD player with plenty of comfy seating. The dining room table will easily seat 8 people for meals or a rousing game of cards or board game. There's even a reading nook for the bibliophile in the group! The walkout basement has a family room with a queen size pull out sofa bed and a twin bed with trundle.

When you arrive, your beds will have been made up with fresh linens. Towels and wash cloths, are also provided, so no need to bring them from home. You will also find a Welcome Book on the coffee table with instructions for use of everything from the TV to the washer and dryer. And another book we call the 'Book of Where' has suggestions for restaurants, ferries, places of worship and museums. Feel free to add brochures of places you would recommend while you are there.

Outside is a deck with table and chairs and a gas grill, which can be accessed by a ramp or steps. A nice yard and surrounding woods give children plenty of space to run and explore. We also have an outdoor shower to rinse off the salt and sand after a day at the beach. Speaking of the beach, we also provide sand toys, beach chairs, beach umbrella, and a beach parking pass!

Our family has been vacationing on The Cape for years. We love it here and look forward to giving you the opportunity to join in the fun we've had. It's a perfect spot for summer fun, but The Cape is also beautiful in the fall, winter and spring. This home would be a perfect spot for your family vacation or a get-away weekend.

About Bill and Debbie Tudor

We both retired in 2011. Bill was a purchasing agent and Debbie an elementary teacher. We have 3 wonderful children and 4 delightful grands. You'll find the house is furnished with visitors of all ages in mind.

Bill and Debbie Tudor purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Bill and Debbie Tudor chose Barnstable

After years of vacationing with family on the Cape, our kids convinced us it was time to buy a place of our own. Our Realtor showed us several properties, but when we pulled up to this house, we knew it was 'the one.' Once you see it and spend some time here you'll know what we mean.

What makes this cottage unique

Our family loves that Slimbridge Cottage is minutes from the beach and the warm waters of Nantucket Sound. It's also not far from the Cape Cod Rail Trail, a 25 mile paved bike and walking path. We love taking visitors to Plimouth Plantation and the Mayflower which is about 45 minutes away. There are ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket right here in Hyannis or you can drive to Falmouth or Woods Hole if you want a shorter 'ocean voyage'. There are also whale watches and deep sea fishing boats that go out of Barnstable Harbor. Fresh seafood is abundant either from the local fish market or at any of the wonderful restaurants. If live theater is your thing, the Melody Tent is about a 5 minute drive. Are you a baseball fan? The Cape Cod Baseball League is one of the premiere summer leagues spotlighting the best collegiate talent. The Hyannis team plays about a 10 minute drive from our place! Probably one of the most amazing things about this place is the peace and quiet. It has woods on three sides with many beautiful birds and is on a cul de sac where our grandchildren can play and explore.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beautiful place. I suggest going on the whale watch. We saw many whales and had a great day. Also went on wine tasting which was a great time, too. Thanks!! Hope to do it again.

Right at home

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived at this beautiful vacation home we knew we were right at home. There were only two of us and it was a big house for two. It was very comfortable and had everything and I mean everything in this vacation home. We did not cook but everything was there for you down to the condiments. We have stayed at vacation homes before and nothing compared to this. Bill and Debbie had everything provided you did not have to bring anything with you. They even had a hairdryer which was very badly needed. I don't think you would have to bring anything with you only yourself and your clothes. I would definitely recommend. It was located about 2 miles from Hyannis and there were ample taxis if you wanted to go to town for a drink. Thanks again Bill and Debbie. Nora and Noel

Owner's Response: Several guests have found having cooking supplies to be a plus. The hair dryers (one upstairs and 1 down) are always helpful, especially when traveling overseas-as was the case for you. I'm so happy you enjoyed stay. Thank you for your kind words.

Loved loved loved

The squeals of delight from my children when we arrived said it all. We had travelled a long way to this house and it was the first house rental we had ever taken. I can find no fault. It was fabulous. Thank you to Debbie and Bill for taking such care with everything!

Great house, very convenient location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend and were so happy with the house and its convenient location to everything. There was more than enough room for 4 adults and 2 children. The rooms were big, there was plenty of space both inside and out for relaxing around the house, and the quiet cul-de-sac was ideal for a relaxing get away. We also loved the convenient location to the beaches and downtown Hyannis.

Craigville beach was perfect for our 2 young children. The water was calm and easy for them to get in and out of and the beach passes were a nice touch too!

We had a blast and look forward to hopefully renting this house in the future. Thanks Bill and Debbie!

Owner's Response: So happy to hear the approaching hurricane did not dampen your stay! The closeness of the beach is a real plus and many people are happy to have the beach pass. Please let us know when you'd like to come again. You will be more than welcome. If a summer trip is on your mind, I will say, you need to book early. We are usually completely booked for summer by spring.! Thanks for your kind words!

Family Friendly!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family of 8. Clean, well stocked, comfortable beds, wonderful secluded deck with nice gas grill, and conveniently located for morning walks into town for coffee, and afternoon trips to the beach. Debbie and Bill do it right! Absolute wonderful vacation!

Owner's Response: When we bought the cottage, the secluded deck was one of our favorite features, too. Having woods on three sides gives us lots of privacy. The quiet neighborhood is just the ticket for relaxing evenings, yet, as you say, we are just a few minutes drive to the beach or a quick walk for coffee or groceries. Glad you enjoyed your stay!

Absolute fantastic house

  • 5 of 5

This house is absolute fantastic and has all things that one could wish for a nice holiday stay. Plenty of space and room for a family of 5 persons. Debbie and Bill responded quickly and were very responsive when we had questions. Cleaning was excellent and everything worked as expected. You will not be disappointed with this rental. We will definitely rent this house again if we are going to Hyannis again.

Owner's Response: So happy to hear you and your family enjoyed our cottage. Our cleaning service gets many wonderful compliments. They work very hard to be sure each guest enters an immaculate house. I know when I travel, that is one of the most important criteria for a rental, also. While Denmark is a long way from Cape Cod, but we do hope you will consider Slimbridge Cottage should you return in the future! You will be most welcome!

Perfect Cape getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our family participated in the Best Buddies Hyannis Port Challenge and arrived to Slimbridge late Friday night. It was so nice to be a mile away from Craigville Beach Saturday morning where we were starting our 5K walk at 9:30 am. We loved the house! Very tastefully decorated and so comfortable! Our biggest regret was not having more time to hang out and enjoy it! We definately want to come back next year!

Owner's Response: The Cape hosts a number of charitable events throughout the year, but as a former teacher and the mother of a special education teacher, Best Buddies is one of my favorites. Kudos to you for participating and helping to raise funds for this worthy cause. You and your family are more than welcome. We look forward to having you return.
