Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom, Private Lanai on the beach! (Sleeps 2 + 2 children)

Recently remodeled condo with full-size gourmet kitchen and everything you could want or need to just sit back and relax. Linen's provided, security gated free parking off street. Secured access to entire facility with 24/7 security.

Awesome space for those who want a quiet time of relaxation while being only 45 minutes from the hustle and bustle of the Waikiki scene. Breath-taking sunsets and glorious moon-sets. Grab your beach chair and cold drink and take the elevator down to the beautiful yet isolated sandy beach. Our white sandy beach is the best kept secret on the island!

This condo is on the sunny side of the island better known as the Leeward side - NOT the rainy side called the windward side. Don't risk a vacation where you may or may not see the sun. Even when it is rainy in Honolulu, it is almost always sunny in Makaha. Beautiful spot - perfect for lasting memories! This has to be the paradise of a true Hawaiian experience.

There are also 2 newer BBQ's provided downstairs with coin operated laundry room and outgoing mail slots.

This area is not in the hub of busyness and offers beautiful white sand beaches waiting to be explored by you. Golfing is just two miles away with Ko Olina and Kapolei courses just 15 minutes away. We are located near the World famous Makaha Surfing beach with huge waves for the surfing competition every winter.

Waikiki is just 45 minutes away so you can explore during the day and return to your heavenly retreat in the evenings. Most of the time there is fewer than a handful of people on this beach called Turtle Cove.

Yes, come swim with the local giant turtles, snorkel with beautiful fish and watch for the whales swimming by (in Season) and if you're lucky a local monk seal might decide to join you and come ashore for an afternoon nap.

About Jim and Cris Cote'

We are Jim and Cris Cote'. We live just 3 minutes from the Cabanas and are available to help with all of your needs.

Jim and Cris Cote' purchased this condo in 2009

Why Jim and Cris Cote' chose Mākaha

Previous trips to Hawaii, we rented a hotel, but decided we wanted something more intimate. We found it. Our first experience at the Makaha Cabanas was when we rented a unit through VRBO. We instantly fell in love. Quiet, comfortable and stunningly beautiful. This truly is paradise on earth. You can't rent a hotel anywhere near as nice as this, nor anywhere as economical.

What makes this condo unique

This beach is truly a gem. Very few people. Sunny almost all the time. Whether you sip your morning coffee on the lanai or have a sunset dinner, our 3rd floor view makes you feel like you are right on the beach. Great surfing waves when surf is up. Good snorkeling area. Great view of the whales when they are here in Winter. Very comfortable condo unit for 2 people with up to one or two small children.Gourmet chef's kitchen saves you tons of money eating out, though you can still go into Waikiki or Kapolei for dinner at a nice restaurant. Truly the best value on the island. Memories for a lifetime.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was our first time to Hawaii. We came to celebrate our anniversary. After seeing the whole island I couldn't imagine a better place to stay. We loved visiting the tourists areas during the day but loved even more being away from them in the beautiful Makaha area. The condo feels quiet and secluded yet close to everything. The beach in front of the condo is one of the best on the island. Every sunset form the Lanai is always amazing. Sleeping that close to the ocean with the trade winds breezing through is incredible. The condo is well appointed and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay including things to enjoy the beach and ocean. The secure parking lot and building entry make you feel safe. We can't wait to return, it felt like home by the time we had to leave.

Words cannot express the happiness we experienced in this condominium during our nine day visit to paradise--the condo simply made it a perfect vacation! When you first drive through the gate at the property, you felt simply secluded in paradise! The exquisite flowering trees and swaying palms were absolutely beautiful. The condominium is first class from the moment you step through the front door… all the way from the top to bottom---from the exquisite tile floors at the bottom to the lighted ceiling fans at the top and every place in between! The living room seats six individuals comfortably and is equipped with an oversized television set, movies, books, handy island brochures, etc.! The kitchen was a complete Chef's dream. It was stocked with every kitchen gadget, cooking utensil and/or tray imaginable! The condo has everything you want for an island stay on the beach--comfy beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels – just every kind of swim accessory one would need!! The bedroom is simply a dream room complete with a sliding door out to your own private lanai overlooking the tropical sandy beach and never ending Pacific Ocean! We definitely would like to return to this condominium as we felt it contributed 100% to our beautiful tropical island stay!

The condo was tidy and had most things needed.

  • 4 of 5

The Condo is right on the beach, so awesome if you just want to relax in the sun or swim/snorkel. We went to a few beaches to snorkel but only saw turtles at the beach where the Condo is so we were pleased! The noise of the waves at night took a bit to get used to and we had to have the louvres/door closed which meant that it was quite warm to sleep. There are two fans in the bedroom/lounge though. The Condo has everything you need and the dishwasher was great. We also found the snorkelling gear and chillibin extremely handy. The lounge has a couch with two recliners. We didn't find the recliners until we had been there about a week though! The weather was great everyday at the Condo and we heard that that side of the Island has the best weather. We felt safe at the Condo but not so much in the area where the Condo is situated. We were glad that we didn't stay in Waikiki because of the crowds but because we like to be busy and doing things the road/traffic/distance/lack of other roads to get to other places was a bit tiresome. Perfect if you just want to stay put and relax though. We found the Safeway supermarket at Kapolei the nicest/cheapest. The oven/microwave and fridge in the Condo were awesome too. Overall great value for money!

Beautiful view, laid back, right on the beach - Best location on Oahu!

  • 5 of 5

The Makaha Beach Cabana was comfortable and clean, in a secure building, with a fenced parking lot with a security guard in the evenings. It’s located about 1.5 hours away from Honolulu, and I chose this location to be away from the crowded beach scene like that in Waikiki. My main criteria when choosing a vacation home, is that it is reasonably priced, located on a nice, sparsely populated beach, ideally where I can hear the sound of the waves at night.

This place was so perfect! The building backs directly onto Paponeone Beach (aka Turtle Beach), and the third floor lanai offers a perfect view of the entire beautiful beach and ocean vista. I could have spent every day on the balcony enjoying my coffee (or other beverage) just looking out at the activity on the beach, the waves, the sky, the sunsets…

We experienced a range of weather while we were there, but we got more than our share of beautiful sunny days. Even when it was raining on most of the rest of the island, often it was sunny at our location. My husband and I stayed there for a couple of weeks in May, and the water was calm enough for snorkeling at the more protected southeast end of the beach on some days, on other days the waves were a little too high for me to venture in. I prefer hanging out the beach with the sand between my toes, with a good book and a cool drink anyway, and this was a great beach for that.

It was my husband’s and my first time on Oahu, and we did a few of the touristy things that you’re expected to do when you go there, but it’s all so populated and the traffic gets old after a few outings. If we were to go again, we’d probably just stay and relax at the Cabana now knowing that it doesn’t get much better anywhere else on the island.

One little secret we discovered while there, near the end of our stay, was that a big thing apparently is sea glass (google it – it’s quite interesting) – A few people were walking along the beach every day with little Ziploc bags, and we were wondering what they were looking for and picking up. Turns out it was sea glass – little chunks of broken glass that have been sandblasted smooth in the ocean waters and then deposited on the beach. We found a few pieces, and I can see how it could become an obsession trying to find the next bigger and better piece – ha ha!

Bottom line, we would absolutely look forward to staying at the Cabana again if we ever do go back to Oahu. The management is also great! Very responsive : )

The most beautiful beach on Oahu!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently stayed at this property and had a wonderful time. This was our first time in Hawaii together and we couldn't have chosen a better location than this condo in Makaha. Everything we needed was supplied. The lanai had one of the prettiest views on the island. We ate our dinner out there most nights and enjoyed the beautiful views of the ocean. The beach was very nice, never crowded like the Waikiki area—which is exactly what we wanted. Sleeping with the sound of the waves crashing on the beach just outside the window was incredible and very relaxing. Do not miss most beautiful sunsets every night. Our only regret is we couldn't stay longer. Will definitely come back here and recommend to everyone!
