Lovely Log Home with glass enclosed porch and huge deck with million dollar view of Eastern Harbor and waterfront access. Watch the lobster boats and relax with the rhythm of the region. Large basement with waterfront views. Wireless Internet & Internet TV. Landscaped garden. Located on the Coast in Downeast Maine. Beautiful scenery, enjoy the region or just relax and enjoy the house and all it has to offer!
My family and I stayed at the Harbor View house for 4 nights during our vacation in Down East Maine. The house was centrally located for the places we wanted to visit from Acadia NP up to Lubec. The location of the house with its beautiful view over the bay and with it being surrounded by tall trees was just the place we were looking for in Maine for some peace and quiet. There is plenty of room to spread out around the house and the kitchen was outfitted with pretty much all one may need during stay. The large outside deck was a great place to eat breakfasts and dinners and to watch the sunsets and lobster boats, plus there is also a sun room with table if the weather is bad outside. We all enjoyed playing with the ping pong and foosball tables after a long day of exploring. The only drawback we noted was that the downstairs was very musty smelling, especially in the bedrooms. My sons both have asthma so we did not feel comfortable with them sleeping down there, so my wife and I ended up sleeping downstairs in the room with the two double beds. It was better when we had the sliding windows opened up and found a fan to help move the air, but musty again after we'd been out all day with house closed up. All in all, the location was great for what we wanted, the house was nicely decorated with all we needed, and the owners were very easy to work with during the whole reservation and payment process. Would definitely recommend to others but would hope the basement could be dehumidified to allow for a better sleeping experience.
We chose the Harbor View House due to its central location to Down East sites, as well as its close proximity to Acadia and points west. There is tons of room in the house, a fabulous kitchen and a great family dining table. While we were out too late most nights to enjoy it, the outdoor deck is great, and we used to grill to cook most of our meals. The kids totally enjoyed the foosball and table tennis rooms, and there are lots of other games to enjoy. The property is very quiet, and it was a pleasure each night to be able to leave the screened windows open to let the cool fresh air in. A true delight for any family stay!
As a family of seven, it can sometimes be a challenge finding a place to stay. Harbor View House fit our needs perfectly. The view from the porch was fabulous. The kitchen was well stocked. The house was nicely decorated (and yet not full of breakables that made me nervous to have my three-year-old "run around.") For the rainy/foggy times, the TV, ping-pong and supply of games fit the bill. The local caretaker was nice... though fortunately we never had a need to call upon him during our stay.
As for Addison, it's a bit off of the beaten path (which we prefer... though plan for extra travel time and limited trips to the grocery store) but strikingly beautiful and charming. We spent most of our time on day trips traveling to Acadia, Machias, and Lubec but found the nearby beach and hiking to be wonderful as well.
Would definitely recommend the Harbor View House for a Downeast Maine vacation that can't be beat.
Harbor View House was ideal for us. We were two couples from Arizona spending the 4th of July week visiting friends on Beals Island, just 20 minutes away. The house has everything you want and it was spotlessly clean and organized while still being campy and fun. Lots of room to gather or for private time. Outdoor deck and grill with comfortable seating and an enclosed porch for enjoying the view on cool evenings. Good wi-fi and even movie channels plus a professional grade ping-pong table! We saw eagles and watched fireworks from the deck. Played golf in Jonesboro (Barren View GC) and ate the best lobster rolls ever at the shack just beyond the bridge on Beals Island.
All communications with the owners and the caretaker were easy and friendly.
The 5 star rating was unanimous from all of us. Thank you!
We spent a restful week at Harbor View. We are from Minnesota so it reminded us alot of northern minn, except the ocean. The house was great, well equipped and comfortable. The days where warm but it cooled down nicely at night. We got lobster from the local fisherman right off the boats for a bargain price. Enjoyed the view; watched 3 bald eagles flying above us one day. I get up early and awoke to the sounds of the lobster boats going out before dawn. We spent 3 days exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor and 1 day in Lubec. The house is a little far from these attractions, especially the last 6 miles through Addison. It tended to be very foggy after sundown. All in all we loved Maine, the local people where great and the house was excellent. Thankyou
Harbor View provided a great place to stay for our first visit to Maine. The house is very clean and comfortable. Plenty of privacy for 2 couples - yet lots of space to gather for meals, movie watching and fun & relaxation. The kitchen is well- equipped and there are plenty of little extras around the house that helped to make our stay hassle free. The view from the deck is absolutely spectacular! Highlights of our stay included a day trip to Lubec to see the West Quoddy Lighthouse and take a whale watch cruise, a day trip to Acadia National Park, and purchasing live lobsters from the local fishermen to cook at the house and enjoy with friends as we sat on the deck overlooking the harbor. Great Trip!
