Beautiful grounds and house
We rented this beautiful house for 11 family members for my daughter's graduation from Vassar. It was about a 30-40 minute drive there, but we used the house as a base for other sightseeing opportunites in the Hudson Valley area such as the Walkway over the Hudson, FDR museum/library (highly recommended) and Rhinebeck (Terrapin Restaurant was superb). The irises were in full bloom around the pond and everything was green and lush, very relaxing and quiet. I wish we could've stayed longer to enjoy the serenity and beauty of the property. We enjoyed the fully equipped kitchen (you can tell it is a chef's kitchen - sharp knives and sharpener at the ready!) and the spaciousness of the house. With 11 people, there was enough space indoors and outdoors to accommodate everyone comfortably all the time. We used the outdoor grill for making dinner and ate al fresco. I highly recommend this property for a stay in the Hudson Valley area. Thank you to Rudy for arranging our stay and to the Kunzs for letting us stay at their beautiful home, even though we requested only 4 nights. Much appreciated!
I stayed with a group of friends for a long weekend at the end of September. We had an amazing time. The pictures don’t even begin to capture the beauty of this property. We had a fire every night in the outdoor fire pit and enjoyed relaxing by the lake. My husband and I love to cook and made food for our guests all weekend. There is a big kitchen with a very nice gas range to cook on. The kitchen also has refrigerated drawers which were fun and gave us more of a vacation feel while we cooked. We had a ball.
My sister and a group of friends rented this home for her bridal shower celebration. It was the perfect setting! We were thrilled when we arrived - the house is absolutely gorgeous as are the grounds. Initially, we were drawn to this house because of the kitchen and it was even more fantastic than we imagined. We love cooking meals together in the very equipped kitchen. We had a camp fire outside each evening and looked at the stars. There is a pond with a floating dock and canoe that we very much enjoyed. Another fun amenity was the outdoor shower! Our group of 12 all slept comfortably. We did not want to leave this beautiful place! I would absolutely recommend staying here. We all hope to return some day!
Beautiful Vacation Home
It was the perfect spot for our two families (plus one extra friend) to spend the week together, exploring, cooking and relaxing. We each appreciated different aspects of the house and property: floating on the pond in a raft, making fires in the fire pit, and cooking, eating and even cleaning up in that kitchen! We liked looking through the book shelves and pitching a tent across the pond from the house.
We had fun exploring the "neighborhood" as well - Hudson and Rhinebeck were fun and we had a great time at the FDR museum and library and an even better time at our late lunch at the bakery/cafe at the Culinary Institute. We picked blueberries and peaches (and then made pies and popsicles!) and walked up to the general store/cafe one day for breakfast. We also enjoyed a great production at Boscobel by the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival.
In short, it was a delightful week.
If you are considering renting this property and have just scrolled through the pictures and read the description it will not give you an idea of how GLORIOUS this rental is. We just came home from our family vacation that included our 3 grown children and their spouses and their kids and everyone had a wonderful time. This is a spacious home with lots of separation and privacy in the space. That makes it perfect for a group.
Every room has beautiful, comfortable furniture that is true to the Farm/Americana history of the home. The kitchen is gorgeous and large. It is the perfect space to "cook together" and enjoy family time. There is a state of the art BBQ and we used it almost every night.
We were blessed with beautiful weather and much of our time was spent at the lake. If you are considering this property for a Summer vacation the lake will be the focal point of your days and evenings. This is a spring fed lake and the water is clean and clear. I can only imagine how magical this property would be after a snowfall! The grounds are immaculately kept. The setting is serene and calm.
The owner was there to greet us upon our arrival and was very gracious and responsive to any questions about the house we had.
