Why Toni Gaspic chose Split

The Villa was built in 1971, at the time when there was no road for cars on the island of Čiovo.

Great-grandfather and grandfather were carrying construction material with wooden carts to build a house. It is primarily used as a summer residence of our family.

Great-grandfather worked as a tour guide to the Ancient Salona. His experience is passed on to his offspring. So the grandmother and grandfather had begun working with tourists in the early 80's. Countless groups of Germans, Czechs, Russians, Austrians, Hungarians, Frenchmen, Italians and many others, took turns in this house. Many of them were returning for years in a row.

Then came the turn of the father. He restored the villa and built a porch in the 90s. According to this porch, residence was given its present name. Today, the Villa is left to the fourth generation of the family since its construction. We made its last transformation in Spring 2010 and now here it is: in its walls is inscribed the story of growing up so many generations of family lineage through various friendly gatherings, family celebrations to teenage parties. If you take a better look at the house, you will find many objects from the past.

The rest of this story is left to Your emotions and memories.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a lovely Holiday we had in the Villa Veranda! We were nine friends and it was our first visit to Croatia. Toni met us at the Airport and drove us to the Villa, he also took us back which made everything so easy for us.The Villa is only 2 minutes from the beach, a good restaurant on the water's edge and a supermarket. The Villa is perfect for a large group, spotlessly clean, plenty of space for each of us.We congregated in the outdoor kitchen and had breakfasts under the palm tree with a view down to the water. Trogir is beautiful and full of atmosphere and Split is only a boat trip away. We didn't have time to visit the islands but I think that we will definitely be going back.

Great Villa in a Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Verandah for a week and it couldn't have been better. There were 6 of us in the party, but the house could comfortably have accommodated more. Although it's one property, it's split up into separate self-contained units so people can have their own space whilst still having lots of great communal space to get together. Everything was very clean and the villa is really well equipped. Toni, the owner, was really responsive and helpful with all the queries we had before we travelled and there were also a couple of very minor issues while we were there that were both dealt with on the same day.

The centre of Trogir is about a 15 minute walk away, although it is quite a stiff walk as you have to walk up and down a steep hill, so it's the same in both directions. If you don't want to do that, you can easily get to Trogir by taxi or a short boat ride. In the other direction, you can walk to Okrug Gornji along a very pleasant promenade which is lined with beach bars and has a couple of nice restaurants at the end. There are also plenty of good restaurants in Trogir itself if you don't want to cook.

In short, this is a great place to stay in a really nice area to be in. Highly recommended.

Great Villa - perfect Equipment

  • 5 of 5

The House is more than beautyfull. All rooms are nicely done with some really cool details. The verandah and the kitchen with the Pizza oven is inviting to create the best pizza You can imagine. We used it nearly every evening! So there was no Need to go out for a dinner. The supermarket is very close Max. 70m. To get a fresh swim the sea is so close, that you only need a towel and that s it. The Outdoor shower at the House is great after we went to swim. The owner is great too. Thank you once more for that nice stay.

Beautiful well equipped villa with great service!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in this villa was great. We were a company of thirteen girls and the villa was just perfect for us. Everything was really clean. There were separate rooms with their own little kitchens and living rooms, as well as one big shared open kitchen and living room. The beds were good. The garden is big, there is plenty of room for thirteen. Kitchen is well equipped and there is a pizza oven and an build in barbecue. The sea is only a few meters down the hill. There is a little rocky beach, which is great for a refreshing swim. A five minute walk brings you to the great lively beach of Okrug. The lovely centre of Trogir is walking distance (app. 15 min). All in all, the villa was fantastic, the environment is lively and we had a great time. We would surely come back.

A lovely, spacious property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in Toni's property and had a great holiday. He is extremely obliging and helpful and made sure our arrival went smoothly. He was available to answer queries both before and during the holiday, which helped make for a stress-free experience. The villa is lovely, especially the 'outdoor' kitchen area. This is where we spent most of our time, but because of the villa's size and layout it is easy to find some quiet space if you're in a big group (we were in the upstairs bedroom which has a lovely, spacious balcony and I sometimes read up there, with views of the sea). The landscaping is also great with a range of vines, trees and Mediterranean plants. Even better, it has a barbecue and wood-fired pizza oven, which was great fun to use.

The nearest beach is about 50 metres away and has a nice, restaurant which we ate at several times. There is also a good shop nearby which opened all day and had enough for daily needs. Early morning swims especially lovely! Trogir and Split are gorgeous. Trogir can be reached in 15-20 minutes and has great markets that open from 7.00. We also took the boat to Split - just under an hour - and preferable to going by road, which gets quite busy. All in all a perfect location for a large party (we were 10). We would definitely go again.

Wonderful villa!

  • 5 of 5

The villa was fantastic! We had a wonderful holiday and Toni, the owner couldn't do enough for us. They even put on an amazing 'Croatian night' for us with delicious fresh fish, homegrown produce and traditional music. It was a really fabulous holiday which adults and children all thoroughly enjoyed. I would absolutely recommend this accommodation! Thank you Toni for our amazing holiday!

Perfect house for families or groups

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect stay at the villa. The house had everything we needed. Lots of space, separate apartments for different families and a wonderful common outdoor kitchen for long nights together. The owner, Toni was the friendlyness himself fixing everything we could possibly need. The Beach was just down the road cross the street where we enjoyed the crystal clear waters. Trogir has a bit of a traffic problem though. But Trogir city centre can be reached by walking 15 minutes.

Trogir is a city in the middle of the Dalmatian part of the Adriatic. Acknowledged by UNESCO in 1997 as possessing a deservedly rich historical and cultural content; castles, churches and palaces, this city also sports the famous jewel of Trogir - the riviera. It encompasses the whole of the south side of the city and provides shelter for many of the world's famous jet setter yachts. Since Villa Verandah is near the city, you will have the opportunity to enjoy yourselves by going out in the evening and walking through the little streets of the city during the summer Culture festival. It offers klapas’ concerts, International Tenor Competition, museum exhibitions, play performances in the Duke’s Palace, music nights on the city square and rich and fun events for the young.
