Beautiful late Victorian house with open fires and an AGA

This comfortable family house sits in an elevated and secluded position close to Inverness town centre. Surrounded by mature trees, shrubs and flowering bushes, the private garden offers panoramic views over Inverness to the hills beyond. Just 5 minutes walk from Inverness town centre, Eden Court theatre, Bellfield Park and the lovely Ness Islands.

This spacious house is furnished with the emphasis on comfort and enjoyment. The open plan kitchen and dining room with open fire is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. While your meal is simmering on the AGA, wander outside to the garden to enjoy the glorious views. Comfort is continued in the cosy sitting room, also with open fire; here you can round off the day with a cup of tea or a whisky before retiring to the lovely comfortable bedrooms.

The house comes with all “mod cons”: gas central heating, free wi-fi, Sonos multi-room sound system and two widescreen TVs with PVR, Blu-ray and DVD players (and a wireless for the Archers!). There is also a cupboard full of board games and shelves full of books and DVDs.

About The Owner

Graham grew up in Inverness before leaving to go to University in Edinburgh in 1986. He has always been extremely fond of Inverness and the Highlands and has retained close connections to the town (now a city). He has many relatives and friends living locally and gets back as often as he can, especially in the football season.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Inverness, Loch Ness & Nairn

Graham bought Bellfield Cottage back in 2006, initially for his own use when visiting friends and family. Since 2009, he has let the house out to visitors. It is a very busy rental property, fully booked every summer, Christmas and New Year and popular in the autumn and spring with return guests, including many performers at the local Eden Court Theatre.

In 2012, Graham bought Kinmylies Farmhouse, which had long been one of his favourite properties in Inverness. This is also now available to rent. (see http://www.homeaway.co.uk/p1091419)

Graham's mother, Margaret, looks after both of his rental properties and delights in meeting guests from all parts of the world.

What makes this house unique

It took me 7 years of searching to find my dream home from home. Bellfield Cottage is one of just 4 houses cut into the steep bank that runs through Inverness parallel to the river. The cottage is secluded enough to afford guests complete privacy, yet with wonderful views and only a short walk to the town centre.

An amazing place to stay in the Highlands and relax

After a week in London and and a week in Edinburgh we were ready to calm down and relax and Bellfield Cottage is the perfect place for that. A full well supplied kitchen and a BBQ outside prompted a trip to the supermarket and some grilling and evenings relaxing after tours and golf. Really can't say enough about how comfortable and welcoming this place felt to us; everything was well maintained and the beds were very comfy. The views are amazing and a short walk to restaurants and the main shopping areas is a bonus; also just a couple blocks off the River Ness for a nice stroll along the path or over the bridge to the other side. We had a fantastic week exploring the area and just relaxing in the cottage. Would love to go back anytime; Inverness. although smaller, is a busy place catering to tourists with many good restaurants.

Hidden gem in Inverness

We have returned to this fab house for several years and look forward to our Spring visit so much. The house is warm and welcoming with every convenience. Always scrupulously clean and with excellent service from the owners should you need it. The golf is great and the great range of restaurants very tempting! The scenery speaks for itself. Lovely house situated close to town centre

Second time we have used this property and it is a beautiful property within 10 minute walk to city centre.The house is very cosy and plenty of seating in lounge and dining area and the features have been kept in this home unlike many other victorian properties and with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms we had adequate roomand time to get ready for hitting the town .Close to the Castle Tavern for great food and beverages a small but friendly pub.We will definately be back to this property and would like to thank graham and margaret for making us very welcome.

Excellent accommodation in a prime location.

We stayed for 15 nights over Christmas and New Year 15/16. We all found the Cottage to be well decorated, warm and very comfortable. The facilities provided are of the highest standard. Having stayed in many holiday houses in and around Inverness, we found this Cottage to be overall the best in terms of comfort and location.

The owners are most friendly and helpful - we could not ask for more.

We therefore have no hesitation in giving this property the highest recommendation. We certainly intend to rent it again in the near future.

Bellfield Park is a two minute walk away and is a lovely place for adults to relax and children to play; with a bandstand, tennis courts, playground and paddling pool. Whin park is a 15 minute walk through the beautiful Ness Islands and has a large adventure playground, boating pond, ducks and even a miniature train for kids.

Inverness is surrounded by many world-class visitor attractions from the battlefield at Culloden to the world-famous Loch Ness. Distilleries and castles are too numerous to mention, but our favourites are the ruined Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness and the Glenmorangie distillery at Tain, Explore the Cairngorms on the funicular railway or enjoy the animals at Kincraig wildlife park.

The real beauty of the Scottish Highlands is the natural environment. You can expect to see a variety of flora and fauna; including birds of prey, wild deer, leaping salmon, dolphins in the Moray Firth and, if you are very lucky, the famous Loch Ness monster.

There are walking trails for all ages and abilities, country sports of hunting, shooting and fishing as well as climbing, golf, sailing and skiing for the more active.

Throw in some of the best fresh food in the UK and some really great local restaurants and your stay will be truly memorable.
