Wonderful location and property with a true feel of the Adirondacks.
Spent a week here with my teenagers, and had a wonderful time -- this wonderful cabin was a great part of a great trip!
The place is beautifully and tastefully decorated, and in great shape, and has all the amenities of home -- from a spacious and comfortable living room, a big dining room table and a well-appointed kitchen, to comfortable beds in three separate bedrooms.
The location is also great -- while quiet and secluded when at home, you're also five minutes drive from a supermarket, and ten minutes from the activities, restaurants, and more in each of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake.
Will definitely look to come back!
We really enjoyed our stay here. There were 3 of us in the house to visit friends in the area. Plenty of space. The larger beds are on the first floor and the two twin beds are located in the room upstairs. Great location. Right off the main road but far enough back so you don't hear any road noise. A short drive will bring you right into Lake Placid or Saranac Lake. Grocery stores right nearby. Fully stocked kitchen and a large table made making and eating meals enjoyable. House was nice and warm even with the cold Adirondack weather. The owner was very responsive to any of our inquiries. Check in and check out were a breeze. Will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area!
The cabin was perfect for what we wanted. Location was perfect, right in between Saranac and Lake Placid. House was clean upon arrival, beds were very comfy and had all the amenities needed for our stay. Great fire pit in the back and feels secluded for being so centrally located. Great weekend, hope to be back soon!
What a great place! First of all SPACIOUS -- this place is so big!! There are four of us in our family (my husband and me and our two teenage sons - 4 adult sized people), and we had plenty of space! Kitchen was well equipped and ample space at the dinner table. A grill was also in the carport with charcoal although we didn't use it. The fire pit in the back looked amazing (we hiked all day and didn't use the fire pit). Plenty of brochures for local restaurants and activities. Very clean -- and I loved having a super sized washer and dryer!! The only negative was that there are no blinds or full length curtains on any of the windows. Because of location this is generally not a problem, however I had a bit of difficulty sleeping with the moonlight in my face. The cabin feels very private and secluded, yet you are minutes away from all the action. Great place -- we would stay here again if we were in the area.
This was our second visit to Bear'n Lodge, and we'll definitely be coming back for a third. Both times, we spent our days in either Saranac Lake or Lake Placid, making use of boat rentals and beaches, then retired back to the cabin for peaceful, laid back evenings. The open-concept kitchen/dining area always makes for a natural hangout in the late afternoon, and later on, things move to the backyard for a campfire. It's just perfect for a group of friends, and won't set you back a bundle--there are few places this affordable located so close to Lake Placid! The one drawback is the driveway, which was in really rough condition (a result, I imagine, of the heavy rains the Adirondacks had received a few weeks previous), and scraped the car's undercarriage a bit on the way in and out. Just take it slow (or drive a bigger vehicle!). In short, it's not glamorous by any means, but it's cozy and absolutely perfect for us. Can't wait to go back!
We are three guys that go hiking every year and this year we chose the Adirondacks. We could not have picked a better location as it was halfway between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. The house was very comfortable with a well stocked and spacious kitchen and comfortable beds. It was also in a beautiful setting surrounded by woods and just close enough to Highway 86 to give us quick access to wherever we wanted to be. The washer and dryer came in very handy for us. We don't have any complaints other than the Weber grill was very dirty, which we cleaned, and if you bring DVD's make sure they are not BlueRay. We would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it.
