|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Recapture a by-gone dream in a classic U.P. cabin. Ecologically diverse surroundings, explore the ledges, the plains, beaches, hiking trails, golf, water sports, hunting, fishing or wildlife right outside your window.
Owned by Laura & Pete Ryan (who summer next door) and Cindy & Mark Wenger (2 doors down). All from Columbus, Ohio (even though the Ryans currently live in Atlanta) we all call Drummond our home.
Cindy Wenger purchased this house in 1972
Part of the family property, this cottage became part of our Drummond legacy in 1972. Second generation families raised our children here and then established our Island homes nearby. This has been our home, and we are delighted to share it with you.
Right on the water, this cabin has the views, swimming,
sand area for the kids, and serene sunsets all right where
you're staying. Hiking trails are within walking distance, and a children's play cabin is right on the property. The bay in front is shallow, which makes swimming ideal.
Where do I begin??!! If you are looking for a soul-nurturing place to escape the busyness of the world and step back to a slower pace in time, then this is the perfect spot for you!
Our family just returned from an incredible week at Cedar Sunsets. From the moment we boarded the ferry to come home, we were all wishing we could start the whole week again!
Cindy and Laura are warm and friendly hosts, and you will love their family cabin! It is as warm and friendly as they are!
With 3 girls almost grown, this was the perfect place for our family to re-connect and re-charge. We loved the coziness of the cabin, the kayaking every morning, fixing meals together, playing board games, hiking, the sunsets, and venturing out to explore some crazy roads and wild destinations! We didn't miss the wifi, our cell phones, or tv!! Being off-the-grid for seven days was nothing less than pure freedom! (And yes, our daughters would all agree with this!) It was a throw-back to good old-fashioned vacationing that every family should try to make time for!
A special two-thumbs up goes out to Port-of-Call and their delicious homemade COOKIES!! Don't miss out on these if you find yourself on this beautiful island, full of wonderful people!!
Cedar Sunsets is worth all 5 stars, and more! You won't be disappointed!
Cindy was great, she was close by but I never felt like she was intruding. The cabin was gorgeous, and adequately equipped with paper products and cleaning supplies. There was also firewood supplied for fires near the beach. The driveway was a little tricky to find at night when we got in, but that was good that the cabin was back away from the road. Everyone had a great time.
This cottage is so cozy and welcoming, from the minute we walked in all we could say is wow! It is so cute and tucked back down a lane in the woods right on Lake Huron facing the sunsets and the offshore islands. I fell in love! ...first with the ferry, with the deck, the adorable sleeping loft, the red geraniums, the sweet beach and firepit. Best of all is the peaceful woods, and the night sky, the pet squirrel, and the sunsets. I would give anything to be there right now! Cindy is so friendly and helpful and I feel like I have known her my whole life. This home has been in her family for over 30 years and the furnishings and decor fit so perfect for the U.P. of Michigan. We highly recommend the Bear Tracks for breakfast, the Port of Call for brick oven pizza and their dark beer and wine selection! We also enjoyed Esther's Mexican Garden for dinner. We really enjoyed just hanging out on the deck with our snacks and wine! We LOVED the off road jeep trails and the Jeep jamboree weekend. The islanders are so friendly and they wave at everyone. This place is kayaking heaven and we enjoyed paddling right off of the cottage's beach to the close islands and the National Wildlife refuge island. We kayaked the Dam flooding area inland and kayaked for miles along pristine blooming lily pads while the otters and beavers popped their heads up to check us out while bald eagles soared overhead. This island is a paradise and this house is a treasure. I can't wait to come back and I can only hope it will be soon. Thank you Cindy for sharing this place with us. Stay in touch :) John and Kim
5 of us "girls" visited Drummond for the Fall Festival and stayed at this cabin for 3 nights. It was perfect for us! We felt so at home at this place as soon as we walked in! Location is so convenient to "town" and the activities that were going on all weekend. Very clean, private and quiet (except for us!) ...... the Owners were close by and very available if needed. The cabin is well-stocked and roomy with the ultimate up north, U.P. cabin feel. We loved it and all agreed that we will return for another visit in the future! Thanks to our lovely hostesses for everything ... including the perfect weather!
We chose Drummond Island for our "Girls Week", and are so happy we did! The cottage exceeded our expectations. Very well stocked and charming. Plenty of room for the 4 of us; we used the grill every night and the kitchen every morning. Wanted for nothing. The island was wonderful; paddled and boated to the outlying islands and right back up to our front door! The hosts are very kind, nearby if you need something, but not imposing. We hope to go back!
Where do I start...First the pictures do not do it justice. Cute cabin that is private with a great view! We had 4 adults, 3 kids and 2 small dogs with lots of room! It was clean relaxing and felt like home. The owners are very attentive to their guests and their needs! Thanks Cindy and Laura for everything!!
We loved the Bay for swimming, using the raft, the best sunsets and stars ever! Sit on the porch and watch the sun slowly set and the bay appears on fire!! , At night we saw the northern lights and wonderful shooting stars. During the day we fished, traveled to fossil ledge, Glen Cove Harbor Island and of course the TeePee for ice cream.
The kids loved the play house and the secret woods!
We usually take a week a year always a different location but next year we discussed 2 weeks and returning to Cedar Sunsets.
Ahhh pure Michigan nothing like it!
The perfect non-stress getaway for couples, families, and friends. Right on the water, count on brilliant sunsets to finish each day. Play cabin for children. Hiking, Fishing, Golfing, Boating, Water Skiing, Tubing, and Relaxing for all. You set your own pace.
