Two cabins built in 1950 were part of Deerpath Resort. Great care was given in the renovation process to keep the cozy charm of the original 'strictly modern' cabins while improving the comfort and function for today's families.
They are available June through September with a minimum one week stay.
Each cabin has two bedrooms, one with queen bed and one with twin bunks plus twin trundle bed. The kitchens have been remodeled and have all new cabinets, refrigerator, cook top, microwave and sink.
For outdoor living, there is a wonderful lakeside fire pit, a dock, horseshoe pit, a picnic table and Weber grill.
Four generations of our family have fallen in love with Deer Lake from this very spot. We vacationed in these cabins for many years until the resort cabins were sold and we are very excited to have them back in the family.
Pam purchased this cabin in 2012
This is a place where everyone of every age finds a bit of serenity. When my young children spent their summers here, they never cried or complained that there was nothing to do. This property sits on one of the most beautiful spots on one of the most beautiful lakes in the state.
There's more to do than listen to the loons and watch the other wildlife, but you may not want to. You'll be within 20 miles of 3 outstanding golf courses.
The lake boasts of musky, walleye, northern and bass fishing. Water clarity and purity is excellent for swimming and other water sports.
The cabin, view, & beautifully clear lake water were ideal for our family. Our son, daughter-in-law, and their three children used the cabin for sleeping and family time as they enjoyed a larger family reunion on a close-by lake. The sleeping was great. My daughter-in-law commented on how thankful she was for the cleanliness of the cabin. It has a lot of charm. She was able to prepare the food she needed with the well equipped kitchen. They enjoyed winding down on the long dock as well as taking walks in the quiet. The owners are so amiable as well. They enjoyed great & helpful conversation with them. We would highly recommend this spot to a family of 4 or 5!
We came back this year after a wonderful stay in 2014. We plan to make this our annual vacation spot. The small cabin is perfect for our small family. We have plenty of space and has just what we need to enjoy quality time together! Our friends rent the second cabin and the 4 young children have a blast playing in the open grassy area, making sandcastles on the beach, swimming in the pristine, shallow water, bonfires, fishing and exploring Bear Island. The lake is quiet and doesn't get busy on the weekends. We do rent a pontoon from Wheeler Marine in Longville and they deliver right to the lake. This year, we also rented inflatable paddleboards from Grand Rapids marine. This year, we had the pleasure to meet some of the neighbors and they were delightful and welcoming to our kids and dog.
We can't wait to go back in 2016!
What a unique and special place! We stayed for a week in August 2014 with our group of 6 and rented both cabins. The arrangement gave all of us privacy, but allowed the whole group to gather for meals and social time. The cabins are newly remodeled and beautiful with everything you could possibly want for a great getaway.Seems the owners have thought of everything!
The fact that these cabins are located on Deer Lake really adds to the already amazing experience. This is an incredibly clear, sky blue lake with a sand bottom and spring fed water source. We had our own small beach directly in front of the cabins that lead out to a shallow bathing area and on out to deeper water, ideal for kids and adults alike.Sunsets were a special time every evening.
Our group is already making plans for next year, as this was one of the best vacations any of us can remember.
This was truly a great week for our family on one of the most beautiful lakes in Minnesota. We rented both cabins and our family, including a 91 year old grandfather, had great fun fishing, boating, skiing and swimming. These cabins are virtually right on the waters edge and newly redone. They are well appointed and we even found coffee and treats waiting for us when we arrived. There is a gentle sand beach, the lake bottom is sandy with a very gradual slope and the water is the clearest/cleanest we have seen anywhere in the state! We will absolutely be back.
We had the pleasure of renting a cabin for the week of August 17th, 2013. The newly renovated cabin is simply beautiful, clean, and nicely decorated – so cozy! The kitchen has all new appliances and is well stocked with a variety of pots/pans and cooking utensils, all you need to bring is food! Deer Lake itself is a real treasure with its aquamarine-blue water and white sand shores. We enjoyed hours of boating, fishing, floating, swimming and snorkeling. The picnic table near the beach was nice to sit at and read, or surf the web as there is secure wireless access. We were graced to be up north during a “full moon” week. To our west we witnessed spectacular orange sunsets and shortly thereafter, a breathtaking full moon appeared every night to the east over a nearby island. Definitely evenings to remember. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who needs to relax and recharge.
My husband, daughter, mother-in-law and I spent the week of July 4th in cabin 7. Our stay was nothing short of magical. The cabins truly are just a few steps from the amazingly clear lake (we could see fish 10+ feet down!!!). Our daughter, who celebrated her 3rd birthday at the cabin, was in love with the small but lovely beach and very gradual slope into the lake. She could safely swim and play to her little heart's content. This spot is perfect for families with small children! For us adults, we were able to use the canoe and kayaks that were onsite, and ample firewood, a Webber grill, charcoal and grilling tools were all provided. Inside the cabin, we had everything we could possibly want and then some, including s'mores supplies and some lovely coffee waiting for us when we arrived! The cabin was extremely clean and well maintained. The new kitchens are fabulous. They have everything you need to cook whatever you want... stove, oven, full-size fridge, microwave, tons of utensils, kitchen tools, a full supply of dishes and ample silverware. We brought way more than we needed because we had no idea so much would be provided. If you do need supplies or food, Grand Rapids is a short 20-minute drive away and has every kind of store you could want and some amazing restaurants. We went to Tuesday sushi night at the 17th Street Grill at the Timberlake Lodge Hotel and it was a delight. We also visited the Hill Annex Mine State Park on Friday and took the bus tour. It was extremely informative, entertaining and enjoyable. Our daughter was so excited to able to climb on some of the old equipment. Overall, we couldn't have been happier. The owners were endlessly welcoming and the property exceeded all of our expectations. We are already making plans to return next year.
Located on the north shore of Itasca County's beautiful Deer Lake, right on the water with a view of Bear Island.
