My family and I stayed in this beautiful chalet over the 2015 July 4th weekend, and it was PERFECT!!! First, my husband and I (and our 2 dogs) stayed in this beautiful home in 2008 and we had a GREAT time then - in the house playing games, pool, grilling on the back deck, enjoying the lake beach, fishing, white water rafting, horseback riding, it was a PERFECT getaway for a young married couple with no kids. This year, we decided that our 3 & 6 year old children would be old enough to really enjoy it. We were a little nervous about how the kids were going to like it & whether we could keep them occupied and entertained. First, they've made a lot of updates since the above pictures and our last visit. New pillows, new bed linens, wi-fi accessibility, a flat screen with HDMI hookup in the main family room. We took our Apple TV with us, so on the few rainy days we had we were able to access our digital movies and rent movies at our expense. Second, the lake now has a huge playground that the kids absolutely LOVED! It was really nice being able to relax with my husband on the beach while our kids got to play on the playground and then play in the sand or in the shallows of the lake. Heavenly! We took a day trip to Bushkill Falls, fished our hearts out (Lisa and Rich dropped off the village beach/fishing passes, so we only needed to get our PA fishing licenses), relaxed on the beach, had family game nights. The kids were surprisingly comfortable in the new environment and, for anyone who has young children, you know that says a LOT! My only recommendation is do NOT bring a lot of snack foods with you! Lisa had a beautiful welcome basket for us that was just amazing! They really haven't missed a thing! There was a small leak in the downstairs bedroom bath under the sink. This caused us absolutely NO inconvenience AT ALL, but we called to let her know just so that she didn't incur any damage. Even over the holiday weekend, she and her amazing neighbor got a plumber right out, we didn't have to stay at the house (her angel of a neighbor was just as amazing as Lisa is), and it was taken care of and done before we were actually ready to leave the house. She is attentive in every way, kept us informed of all of the local festivities, the house was immaculate, had everything you could ever need in the kitchen and beyond, comfortable, and none of us wanted to leave. Both of our kids have already asked, no - INSISTED, that we make this an annual trip for our family.
Perfect time of the year to visit the Poconos. Lisa and Rich have really made this home one of the best places we have stayed. The gift basket and wine were truly a nice touch. The home is very large - there were just two of us for the week. The home is spotless upon your arrival. TV's in just about every room. The sunroom is so peaceful with the skylights. Kitchen has everything you need to cook. Lisa called us upon our arrival to make sure we were settled in and if we needed anything else. And we could ask the neighbor if we needed anything too. Our days were filled with walks around Locust Lake and short sightseeing excursions around the Poconos. This home is definitely one that people should consider to rent if visiting the area. It is close to the lake for summer fun activities. Will be back to rent this home.
Lisa and Rich have got to be the the most amazing people on the planet to rent from. From the first time we spoke until the last day of our vacation, Lisa has been unbelievably helpful and kind. She checked in with us on our first day, left us a generous gift basket full of goodies, and a big bottle of wine. We were blown away by the generosity and also by the house, as stated by others, the pictures do not do it justice. Everything in the house is labelled, making it easy to find everything. The house is stocked with everything you would need and more. I cannot express enough how wonderful this vacation was for us. The ONLY complaint that we had was that we had to leave! We plan on being back many years to come. Thank you Lisa and Rich, you are wonderful people! You made our vacation perfect in more ways than we ever expected.
this was our second year renting from Lisa and Rich. There is not one thing bad to say about this house, Lisa could not possibly be more gracious or hospitable. We had a wonderful week again this year, restful and fun. Sometimes I think I shouldn't be so complimentary. Maybe afraid if we want to rent Lisa and Rich's home again....there will be no openings as anyone who has stayed there once, will definitely want to come back and be recommending this home to their friends and there won't be any weeks available. But I guess 'cousin' Lisa would find a way ; ).Thank you so much once again for all the wonderfulness.
My family and I enjoyed our time together at this most comfortable, spacious, well-equipped, and maintained mountain home. We booked this rental based on the numerous positive reviews, and it was definitely a wise choice. The photos, as stated in previous reviews, do the home no justice. The owners take much pride in their property and go the extra step making sure their renters want for nothing. Lisa, David, and their daughter even stopped by to deliver an extra coffee pot, in case we would need it! It was a true pleasure dealing with Lisa, a most hospitable and accommodating property owner. We've already booked our family get together for next year!
Best family vacation we've ever had! From booking this vacation house to arrival all the way through the week long stay, it was such a dream! Lisa is an amazing hostess and vacation planner. She was so helpful with the details. We had a few families staying together so sleeping arrangements had to be figured out ahead of time and it couldn't have worked out better. Other reviews state that the photos don't do this house justice, and it's true, there is no way to capture the beauty, the space and comfort of this home. And yet it's still cozy!! The swing-set out front was a life saver with three young children, we were able to relax on the front deck drinking our morning coffee while the little ones played and explored. We also lucked out and got the most beautiful week of the summer and were able to enjoy the beach down at Locust Lake all week, it was picturesque and so serene. The kids had the time of their lives and so did the adults. We hosted an 80th birthday party for my father and had all our extended family up to the house and it fit everyone VERY comfortably. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out and stretch their legs and take enormous family photos. I'm already hoping to go back up this winter so we can use the fireplaces. Lisa - thank you again and again from my whole family.
