|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
Villa Pollo is situated in Sa Nau Perduda, on a closed lane close to beaches and Ses Negres, a marine reserve (2 minutes walk). It is fully furnished with good facilities whilst retaining many features of a traditional Spanish home. The accommodation consists of a kitchen, living & dining room, sun room, and downstairs toilet. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms (one with twin beds) and two bathrooms (one en-suite). Bedroom 1 has double doors opening onto a large balcony overlooking the sea and the surrounding countryside. The living room and bedroom 1 are equipped with air conditioning.
Outside, there is an enclosed terrace leading out from the sun room and ample off-road parking. The large swimming pool is shared with 4 other villas only.
Begur is a picturesque and bustling medieval town with a hilltop castle and many good restaurants, bars & chic boutiques. The secluded bays of 'Sa Tuna' & 'Aiguafreda' are close by (10 minutes walk along a lovely coastal path). The popular beach at Sa Riera is also within walking distance - 2.3 kilometres, and the historic village of Pals is just 10 minute away be car.
This beautiful area is popular with walkers. Some leisure activities include golf, swimming, diving, sailing & horse riding. Further afield, there is the Dali museum in Figures, Gaudi architecture in Barcelona and the extraordinary Gothic Quarter of Girona.
We manage this lovely home ourselves and offer a real ' home from home' with many personal touches.
The villa is set in a quiet part, just outside Begur and surrounded by pine forest. There are a few other villas and apartments close by but the location remains largely unspoilt and a perfect setting for those who enjoy walking and swimming and just chilling out!
The property does not have wifi, which some people might feel is a drawback, but personally we feel this is a unique benefit and provides a break from the demands of the Internet!!
However, WiFi can be obtained from a local cafe just 5 minutes walk away or in the town of Begur.
We have retained a real Spanish feel in the property, enhancing the sense of difference being at home, yet away!
We enjoyed the Villa Pollo, in particular the upper terrasse from which we have seen many shooting stars! Indeed, The villa is very well located, so close to the marvelous Aigua Freda and Sa tuna. I also appreciated that the level of equipments, the quality of furniture and so on and so forth is remarkable.
Thank you for that.
A great base for exploring the more 'authentic' parts of the Costa Brava, although peak season traffic and narrow windy roads, beautiful but tiny coves etc didn't always make for stress-free travel and parking. The villa itself is comfortable, well cared for and well equipped. A great music, DVDs and games collection kept us all entertained when we weren't out and about. The nearest access to the sea is about a 10-15 minute walk downhill along one of those windy roads, and is not sandy, but pebbles and a concrete deck area. There are other small coves nearby, best accessed on foot via a beautiful coastal path (there is road access, but car parking is limited and they are popular). The big sandy beach is about 15 min drive north) So in short, walking to a beach is not that easy, especially if you had small children. The villa itself is about 15 mins drive from Begur, so eating out in the evening always meant a driver (there is a restaurant at local cove, but didn't suit all our tastes), hence the knowledge of music and games collection as on some evenings we either ate in or came back early to make sure the driver didn't miss out too much on the wine!!
Villa Pollo is a beautiful house which we had the pleasure of staying in for our summer holiday this year. We are a family of 6 and the villa provided us with very spacious, clean and comfortable surroundings; in addition, the villa has an authentic Spanish feel to it which was a real bonus.
The swimming pool was very large ( much more so than we anticipated from the photographs) and we enjoyed using it every day. It was always tranquil with only a few guests from the other villas using the pool from time to time (we ended up having dinner in the next door villa one evening after chatting at the pool!).
We also made the most of our time exploring the surrounding area. Having never been to this part of Spain before, we were happy to discover such a scenic area with beautiful small coves and beaches with clear turquoise sea, all within a short drive from the villa.
We enjoyed visiting Begur, a lovely hilltop town nearby. There is a great Spanish atmosphere and a wide array of restaurants to choose from.
Peter was really helpful, giving us an insight into the surrounding area and lots of useful information before we arrived. We would have loved more time to explore this beautiful region so we hope to return to Villa Pollo to do this in the future- it is a superb place to stay and we would certainly recommend it!
We had a really nice 2 weeks in this Villa. It is spacious, well-equipped and clean and is in a quiet location. Air -con in the main bedroom and the lounge was very helpful for those very hot days and nights! We had the good-sized pool mainly to ourselves. The surrounding area is beautiful - very hilly. You will definitely need a car as the road to Begur isn't pedestrian friendly being quite narrow and windy. Begur is a lovely old town - relatively quiet by day but very busy of an evening. There are lots of places to eat in Begur and the surrounding towns and also plenty of supermarkets. We used the Spar in Begur and also the larger Esclat in Palafrugell. There is so much to see in this area. The Villa is a great base. Equally though Aguiafreda - a 10/15 minute walk - is beautiful with clear blue water. Quite stunning. We spent many days by the water there and also walked around to Sa Tuna, a really pretty little village with some nice restaurants and a beach. Peter was extremely helpful prior to the holiday with helpful tips and advice. We very much hope to return as its such a pretty area with so much to do.
Villa Pollo is a fantastic house near the sea. The villa is well furnished with airco in the main rooms. It has a big pool with a nice terrace. Sitting at the terrace of the house or the balcony, you have a nice view over the sea.
The house is situated a couple of kilometers outside Begur in the urbanization Acquafreda. From the villa you can walk to the sea. Also in the neighborhood there is the Vintage Hotel, with a spectacular open-air restaurant with a nice view over the Acquafreda Bay.
Begur is an authentic old town with nice shops and restaurants. The coast is very nice to visit the little bays. Just a few kilometers landward there a some nice old villages like Pals and Bisbal. We have enjoyed the hills to cycle there.
We have been two weeks at Villa Pollo. The complete and well cleaned house, the swimming pool, the surrounding and the variety of activities in the neighborhood would be a reason to return to Villa Pollo next year.
Last but not least we will thank Nuria. She gave us a warm welcome after a long ride from Holland. One time we had a little problem with the washing machine, but this was solved immediately.
We had a wonderful stay at Villa Pollo! The villa is relatively easy to find and the location is excellent. It's very near the beautiful towns and beaches of Sa Riera, Sa Tuna and Aiguafreda. Whether you go via foot on the coastal paths (be prepared for some serious hiking and breathtaking views) or via the road (you really need a car to make the most of your stay in this area) you can explore a different beach every day. The natural beauty of this part of Spain is unbelievable and the location of this villa helps you make the most of it.
The villa itself is very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The pictures and descriptions on the site are all very accurate. We are a family of five (with three teenage boys) and we felt very much at home. We really appreciated the wonderful, eclectic CD and DVD collection and we enjoyed our downtime on both patios and at the shared pool (most of the time we were the only ones there).
I can't say enough about the charming town of Begur (just a few kilometers away, about a 10 minute drive). The restaurants there and in the surrounding area were wonderful. We especially enjoyed Sa Rascassa and Can Torrades. For lunch, you can't beat the view and great food on the patio of the Vintage Hotel, just walking distance down the street from the villa.
Many thanks to Vanessa, the owner of Villa Pollo. She provided personal service from the logistics of securing the rental via email to her excellent advice on how to make the most of our stay. Also, the local caretaker, Nuria, was very pleasant to deal with and very helpful.
Overall, a great place for a great vacation. We look forward to returning!
Well furnished personal Villa, located close to the sea (great snorkeling within a 5 minutes walk). All the equipment needed. Smooth contact with the owners and good customer services.
The Begur area is great. Not to crowded (July). For everyone who likes to hike; do the caminas de ronda (coastal paths), guiding books for sale in Sa Riera. Good resaurants nearby, as La Pizetta in Begur and Recer de la Mar (sa Riera). The terrace of the Vintage hotel (walking distance) has a great view over the sea and relaxed atmosphere (and good cortados). Visit the villages south of Begur, such as Tamariu, Aiguablava, Pallafruguell. We did not like the Pals area.
The northern Costa Brava (literally meaning the 'rugged coast') consists of rocky headlands that break up the beautiful small coves and beaches. The villa is situated in an area of small twisting roads that run through pine forests, leading down to the cove of Aiguafreda and the old fishing villages of Sa Tuna and Sa Riera, that now hoast chic restaurants and cafes. There is an ancient coastal path that leads to the bays with glorious views of the surrounding countryside and craggy coastline.
Diving and snorkelling is available in secluded caves; there are botanical gardens at Cap Roig; markets in Begur, Palamos and Palafrugel; ceramics at La Bisbal; marine exploration of La Medes Isles (sapins tope marine reserve); art at the Dali Museaum in Figueres and architecture in Barcelona and Girona.
The area has many fine golf courses.
This is an unspolit corner of Catalonia often referred to as the 'jewel in the crown' of the area.
