About Owner / Property Manager

I purchased the house in 2007 and immediately initiated a large scale renovation and remodel project. My inspirations were the Tuscan kitchens I saw during a year in Italy and my desire for a fun and loving space for my two children. The kitchen is the social and architectural heart of the house. Houses of the early 1900's did not focus on large social spaces. I decided to remove the partition between the dining room and kitchen to create a large social space. The kitchen is vast and very 'gourmet.' You can cook while talking to family and friends seated at the breakfast counter or in the dining room. I also created what the kids and I called the 'gourmet' bathroom of the second floor. It features a large multi-fixtured shower complete with body jets, a heated tile floor and a Japanese toilet with heated seat and bidet functions. Finally, we created a 'kid recreation zone' in the daylight basement which has a ping pong table, large sectional couch and home theater. Over the years, we noted that the 'kid recreation zone' became favored by the adults as much as by the children. br br

The Ravenna Farmhouse has facilitated great joy for my family and many others. I hope you enjoy your stay.

What makes this house unique

The Ravenna Farmhouse has served families since the early 1900's. 10 years ago I received a letter from a local antiques dealer He had found a letter written from the owners of the house in 1918. It was long, and beautifully written with the grammar of the time. Most significant to me was the author's (mother of the family) comments on the great flu pandemic of 1918. She was relieved that no one in the family had succumbed to the flu but there were many in the city who had. I later found out that she and her husband were on the building committee of the historic University Church on the corner of 15th Ave NE and NE 50th St, a few blocks from the house.

The neighborhood is a wonderful example of how good urban living can be. You can walk to a variety of small businesses, the UW Bookstore, and movie theaters in the University Ave zone. You can walk to Whole Foods in the nearby Roosevelt District. And you can walk down 'secret stairs' or via the streets to the University Village, the premiere shopping mall of Seattle. The University of Washington is also a very short walk and is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. It also hosts a variety of entertainment events. The neighborhood food options are truly unlimited. For Chinese food, you can have a world class experience at Din Tai Fung at the University Village. For Mexican food, Aqua Verde near the UW Campus not only has top quality food, you can also rent a sea kayak there and kayak on Lake Union. For a romantic evening, our favorite local place was Pair, which I would describe as French Tapas place.

My personal favorite aspect of the Ravenna House experience was walks in the neighborhood to Ravenna Park, just a few blocks away. It is a Ravine in which you can bike or walk surrounded by lush green trees. Both ends of the park feature newly renovated playgrounds.

The house was perfect for our stay and will keep this home in mind for future stays. Plenty of room and open spaces. Biggest drawback was the oven knob not working properly. Hope that will be fixed asap for the next renter.

Reviewer Comments:

Comfortable and quiet house.Neighborhood also quiet . You have to give the house number in the avenue to help finding the house. What you give at corner of a street and avenue is not explicit enough. More the code to be used to open the door was not set as indicated in instructions. We had to use assistance of a neighbor to contact your office on Saturday evening. Thank you for taking note of these remarks.

Myself and several buddies rented this house for a football game. The campus, stadium, shopping, eating and drinking establishments are all within walking distance. We had an excellent time.

Reviewer Comments:

House was ok but didn't have all the features it said in description. There was no central air, and the bed rooms were laid out very odd with wall units in some of them. We asked for the parking pass to be at house and it wasn't. That was a big issue as parking is very tight

Reviewer Comments:

Our family visited Seattle for a wedding that took place on Lake Union. This seemed pretty far away when viewed on a map, but was actually very convenient to everything. Eight of us fit very comfortably in this house. The 2 car driveway, though a tight fit, was a wonderful part of this experience!
