Warm memories of a great place with loving hospitality
We enjoyed so much our stay with it's gorgeous views, the relaxing villa and (vineyard) grounds with refreshing pool and above all the warmth and care of our hosts Francesca and Manu. Our girls (3 and 6) loved every minute of it and were so thrilled to be there for one of the harvests. We cherish our memories and photos and enjoyed the proximity to the beach, hiking in the Alpuane, culture/shopping/meals in Pietrasanta and Serravezza just minutes away. We are forever grateful to our wonderful host Dr. Giorgio who took such great care of us when my wife got ill in the middle of our lovely holiday. Plus made the most lovely birthday panna cotta ever made. We can't wait to get back to this lovely place and luckily we have some bottles from the vineyard to refresh our memories and tide us over in the meantime...
We keep coming back to this magical place...
We recently came back from yet another stay at Villa Giovanna, our third in as many years! (See my first review from 2013.) And the only regret is that we couldn't come more often...
The pull of Versilia (and more broadly Tuscany) is getting stronger each time. This summer we visited all of our favorite spots in the area, as well as discovered new ones.
We've become friends with Francesca and her wonderful family and love spending time and sharing meals with them. Their generosity and joy of life are inimitable. We made a very special trip together this year to Antro del Corchia, a vast and spectacular mountain cave. This was followed by attending a summer solstice festival in a beautiful little village high up in the mountains, complete with delicious food and a recital of Puccini arias. An unforgettable day!
I wrote extensively about the house, and the grounds, in my first review, and can only add that it feels ever more cosy and comfortable. The views are stunning and serene at the same time; the photos on the web hardly give them justice.
We feel lucky that we discovered Villa Giovanna, and lucky to have met Francesca, Emanuele, Marco and Giorgio. We can't wait to come back to feel again the warmth of Tuscany, of this house and of our friends.
The Binders/ California 2014
We just had the most amazing week @ Villa Giovanna. Francesca and her father JoJo were nice enough to meet us off the Autostrada @ the Versilia exit and escort us up to the Villa.
The villa was so old world charm up in the hills of Ripa di Seravezza. I had told Francesca we we're celebrating our 50th wedding Anniversary and upon arrival was a beautiful basket filled with fruit, cookies,& two bottles of their wines. She also filled our refrigerator with breakfast items as we got there late in the afternoon. We just could'nt believe the warmth in these people.
The view from the villa was so beautiful at daytime but at night it took your breath away,
We were just a short drive down the hill from town and close to many other towns.
I could go on about all the other wonderful things they did for us but there is just not enough space. But if your looking for as I said "old world charm" and the most gracious people you'll ever want to meet then Villa Giovanna should be your next destination. Thank you Emanuele, Francesca, Marco and JoJo. We miss you already! Fondly, Betty
Italy at its best!
My husband, 2 daughters and I have just returned from a 3 week European vacation. Our one week stay at this charming villa in the Tuscan region, remains the part of our trip we can't stop talking about!
The location was fantastic. We took full advantage , and made day trips to explored so many nearby cities including Florance, Lucca, and Pisa! With only a 5 minute car ride ride, we could be laying on the beaches of Forte Dei Marmi, or eating a fabulous meal at a trattoria in the lovely town of Pietrasanta!
The house has an old world feel and look, and being on the hillside, the views from the windows are very beautiful. It was very clean, bathroom was updated and kitchen was fully equipped where we made a few meals ( the grocery store was only a few minutes away by car), and it had a washing machine. The children had so much fun in the pool, and loved exploring the outside grounds of the house.
Francesca and her family( the owners) were so gracious and helpful! We look forward to our return!
Wonderfull home and a wonderfull family. This home has spectacular views and a great location.
My wife and three children stayed at this lovely home with specatulear views from the house as well as the pool. The family was great and provided us with very helpful information about the area, as well as a couple of great authentic Italian meals!
The home is beautifully decorated and is situated in the hills above Forte Dei Marmi. It is a short drive to the beaches of Forte Dei Marmi, and the family was graciuos enough to invite us to join them at their reserved spots on a lovely beach.
It is also is centrally located for day trips to Lucca, Florence, Pisa and the amazing towns of Cinque Terra. We would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to explore this amazing area of Italy!
A Perfect Tuscan Vacation in an Idyllic Spot!
Living in New York City, my family and I prefer to spend our vacations in the countryside. We often use HomeAway to book places to stay both in the United States and Europe. I am particularly fastidious when it comes to selecting the right house or villa. And generally, we've done pretty well with our selections over the years. However, Villa Giovanna takes the top prize!
A tranquil spot, nicely tucked away in the hills overlooking the Ligurian Sea, with an olive grove in the front of it, and a vineyard in the back, this is a genuine Tuscan idyll. The views are magnificent, whether in the brightness of the day, with the shimmering sea on the horizon, or at night, when you can see lights flickering on Corsica in the distance.
But you don't have to be content with just looking at the sea. The beaches of Forte dei Marmi and neighboring towns are only a 10-minute drive away. Tuscan gems such as Lucca, Pietrasanta, Peccioli are all within close proximity.
The house is built in the 1920s and has all the charm and solidity one would expect in an old-world structure like that. Most of the furniture is from the same period. The house is furnished and decorated with authentic and highly pleasing rustic elegance. The bathrooms, kitchen and all the rest of the rooms are maintained in spotless cleanliness (take it from someone who's insanely picky about such things).
Francesca and her family are extremely warm, caring and gracious. They treated us as guests, not as renters. They are happy to provide you with all sorts of tips and useful information about the area and will gladly share with you things about their life and interests (not to mention the wine the produce). At the same time, they will fully respect your privacy when you want it.
I can't wait to be back and enjoy once again sipping wine on the terrace, reading in the shade of an olive tree, and splashing with my son in the pool.
If you love the sea, the nature and the cities of art Villa Giovanna is the right place to stay. Five minutes by car to the sandy beaches of Forte dei Marmi and the Versilia coastline with its night life, restaurants and café, and to the charming town of Pietrasanta, the present home of many famous sculptors in marble. You can also visit other famous Tuscan cities like Florence 100Km, Pisa 25Km,Lucca 20 km, Volterra & San Gimignano. For the ones who loves trekking there are many paths on the Apuan Alps included the spectacular Antro del Corchia that has a total length of over 70 km of subterranean channels and 1,210 meters of difference in height, and it is the main karst system in Italy and one of the biggest in the world. You can fish in many beautiful streams and you can easily visit the romantic near islands of the Ligurian Gulf of Poets, Le Cinque Terre & Portovenere. Tennis courts and 18 holes green only 5 minutes drive from the property. After a day full of emotions you can relax at the pool overlooking the sea surrounded by olive trees.
