This property is unique from all others in the area. Set off by itself, this A-frame provides spectacular views of the mountains and the river from every window. You can sit in the hot tub and watch the wildlife come down to the river or see the eagles soar overhead.
We spent a weekend at this cozy, little A-Frame near the end of January and enjoyed every minute of it! This getaway has it all! The view of the river, a hot tub right outside the front door, a warm fireplace, a kitchen to make as meany meals as you would like and a beautiful loft bedroom. It is located close to so many great hiking trails as well that we were able to fit two into one day. Having the time to unplug away from any cell service or wifi for the weekend was also an unexpected gift and allowed us to enjoy a few of the many VHS tapes available in the cabin's collection. We look forward to coming back!
I took my wife and two small dogs on a Christmas weekend trip to this fantastic A-frame and it was the perfect getaway from the craziness of the holidays. The view is incredible and the A-Frame is just big enough for two+ small companions. The movie collection is great (there is a DVD player) and the kitchen has modern appliances and is big enough to get whatever you need done (my wife cooked a huge turkey while we were there). There is plenty of snow in the winter and Stevens Pass and Leavenworth are not very far. Our goal was to spend quality time together over the holiday and get away from the city and that was accomplished with ease. We did not even see another person while we were there (unless we went into town) and we had zero cell service at the cabin, which was heavenly.
In addition, Chris was a great host and very willing to work with us whenever we needed. He had the fire and hot tub/spa going when we arrived and a little Christmas tree as well! He was very accommodating for our dogs and willing to reduce cleaning cost if we were willing to clean thoroughly before leaving. The Eagles greeting us across the river ever morning was also a plus! We would definitely go back to this cabin and would recommend to any couple looking to unplug and reconnect to each other. Thanks Chris, cheers!
My wife and I stayed 3 nights in the A-Frame cabin in late June-early July 2016. The cabin is located in an older-developed, quiet area of cabins amongst the forest. The location is very scenic, with spectacular views of the mountains up river, the steep-forested slopes of the ridge across the river, and the rushing sound of the river was great to hear. Chris recommended a day trip to Leavenworth which was very much worth visiting. We found the cabin perfect for our get-away before our friend's son's wedding in Seattle. Interestingly, the bride and the groom had booked the cabin for several nights for their honeymoon several days after we departed from the cabin. The cabin was compact but very comfortable and we had a great relaxing time, particularly in the hot spa located out on the deck. The views from the spa were spectacular. The small "town" of Index was nice to explore; at the time of our visit there were no restaurants open, but the Sultan bakery in Sultan served very tasty and large dinners.
The cabin has a very tight, vertical spiral staircase up to the loft. We are in are mid 60's and were able to negotiate the spiral staircase cautiously; it was a little difficult to carry up luggage. It was a bit unusual to find the bathroom without a sink right and one has to use the kitchen sink located on the other side of the bathroom wall. The rental rate on the website, next to the cabin photo, at the time we booked was not for the A-frame but for another cabin.
With these few things being said, we would definitely stay at the cabin again. The peaceful and quiet forest setting is amazing. Everything was as told us by Chris.
Thanks Chris for sharing the cabin with others.
Amazing! Right on the Skykomish River, so you're sitting in a hot tub with sounds of nature, rushing water over the rocks, after a fantastic day spent at one of the activities noted below, enjoying a glass of wine or favorite cocktail. Fire pit is perfect. We had fires almost every night. Fortunate enough to have encountered virtually no rain. Nights are amazing. And the mornings? Sunrises are spectacular, peaking out over the mountains. Several days were perfectly clear. Others had cloud cover low over the mountains. Equally amazing!
Over our 5 days we:
1) Hiked up & saw Wallace Falls
2) Hiked up & saw Bridal Veil Falls (nowhere NEAR as nice as Wallace - skip it if you only do one)
3) Caught an Ocktoberfest parade in Leavenworth- totally fun, and had GREAT food at Bavarian Bistro & Bar. Twice. Shops are fun. Loved it so much that we came back when we...
4) Went ziplining at Leavenworth Ziplines. GREAT!
5) Spent almost two full afternoons at Deception Falls-NOT to be missed. The areas that you can hike after viewing the falls are a true testament to the name "Emerald City".
6) Iron Goat Trail, and COUNTLESS other incredibly beautiful and fun hiking spots.
7) Best sandwich EVER at a place that I believe was called Mountainview Deli, on Route 2.
8) Fantastic day in Seattle-the zoo is wonderful. I personally could have skipped Pike Place Market. Nothing special, to my way of thinking. But hey we saw it, & the Space Needle (kind of ugly) & the new Ferris wheel. Missed the Chihuly Museum. :-(
9) We cooked out on the grill Chris provides on the deck EVERY night, so we shopped a lot at GoldBar Family Grocer, (Yelp it) but there is a little general store right over the bridge in Index if you need to pick up something quick. Quite well stocked.
I feel like I am leaving things off, we had such a great time. My husband was afraid that there would not be enough to do for 5 full days. The reality was that we could probably spend 45 full days and not be bored.
The people you encounter are friendly, helpful, excited to tell you about their towns. We stopped at the Index Town Hall and had an amazing conversation with those folks. Learned a lot about the area.
Met Chris-he's awesome. Truly does everything he can to make your stay perfect! My only quibble? The bathroom needs a sink. :-)
Two Chicagoans had an amazing time & can't wait to got back and stay in Eagle's Nest w/friends. Pics don't do it justice!!!
I took my girlfriend here for a 3 night stay. We needed to disconnect from the city and just spend some time out near nature. This was the perfect spot to just relax and unwind.
The scenery and location is fantastic. Not too far away from Seattle, and has the right amount of nature. The running river is a real treat while you're out at night in the hot tub star gazing. The mountains are a welcome sight in the morning.
Chris did an amazing job with the cabin and his other properties. It was thoughtfully designed. The VHS player was a real treat as well - a blast from the past. Great hot tub, great fire place. There's no wifi or signal here, which as I mentioned, was perfect for disconnecting from the city life.
Chris himself is a really great host. He's super warm and cheerful. He's very thorough with his communication, so coordinating anything was not a problem at all.
I would highly recommend this place to couples and larger groups (for his larger properties just beside this one). I'll definitely be coming back. Thanks again, Chris!
This is a cozy, romantic little A-frame cabin with a hot tub and fire pit. It’s located in a beautiful area with a great view of the mountains and river. It’s a nice and relaxing little place that is nestled next to the river and surrounded by trees.
Make sure to have the directions ready as it is a bit hard to find but it’s worth the search. Once you pull up and see the cabin and the beautiful view you will be excited to begin your vacation. It has all the amenities you will need except wifi and cell reception (which is spotty at best, try down by the river). There is a great big fire pit, a smoker/BBQ (don’t forget the briquets) chairs and a hot tub outside. Inside you will find a nice couch, TV, VCR (with some of my favorite movies), oven and microwave. Upstairs is the loft with a bed and an amazing view of the river and mountains. It’s a great setting for an amazing weekend. We had a great time and I made some of the best steaks ever on that smoker/BBQ using mesquite wood instead of briquets. I’ll definitely be back.
