They have three children and two grandchildren. Their newest grandchild was born during vacation week 2013 in Destin and he spent the first 3 days at the beach house before going home! Mark is an outdoorsman and photographer. You can see Mark’s photography here and at Karen is sometimes available to teach SUP yoga on the lake. They love their Old Florida beach house and sharing it with others.
Karen Pugh purchased this house in 2012
After searching for beach property for over a year, we knew at first sight this was the perfect place for us. Living in a quiet neighborhood on a costal dune lake with the beach just steps away, is truly wonderful. Experiencing the constant change of Eastern Lake interacting with the Gulf of Mexico is amazing. Together they create a very unique playground for beach lovers young and old. Each family member and friend upon their first visit here all said “This place is 'Just Perfect'! “ The name stuck. Come visit and you will understand why.
Eastern Lake is one of 15 rare coastal dune lakes found in South Walton. The rare lakes are reportedly found only along the coasts of New Zealand, Australia, Madagascar, and in the United States along the coasts of Oregon, South Carolina, and Northwest Florida. One of the most interesting features of Eastern Lake and the others is their intermittent connection to the Gulf of Mexico. When a lake reaches a high water level, it breaks through the dune system and beach and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The neighborhood is Seagrove Beach, and so it is, a lake betwixt sea and grove. Since Eastern Lake is one of few costal dunes that allow motorized boats, you will see and enjoy small motor boats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and everything in between. So, in addition to the sun and the surf of the Gulf, you can also experience the fishing, boating and the quiet waters of the lake.
This place was amazing! Perfect for our teenaged boys...perfect location. We loved the proximity to the lake and beach. The canoe and kayak were perfect! The fire pit was a great "hang-out" spot. The house was very nice and comfortable. We easily rented bikes and everyone loved the short rides to seaside, alys and rosemary beaches! We will definitely come back :-).
My family and I stayed at Just Perfect for our Fall Break in October, 2015. The lovely house is on a very quiet street and is directly on Eastern lake and just a few steps or canoe paddles away from the crystal blue gulf.
Staying in this part of Seagrove was like having a private beach, as most of the beach area around you is populated with other private homes and small vacation rentals. It was delightful to have our own piece of the sandy white beach all to ourselves without the tents and mounds of umbrellas around us like at resorts and crowded beach areas.
The house was decorated beautifully and all three bedrooms were large with very comfortable beds. Our wifi reception was strong, so my teens and working husband were content! The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the owners provided both a K-Cup and regular coffee maker for our convenience.
We loved having the outdoor shower with hot water so that we could shower off after each beach excursion. The living room was cozy and comfortable with a great 3D TV. The master bath and bedroom were very large and comfortable with plenty of room, and both guest bedrooms were comfortable.
We loved the beautifully landscaped backyard with the fire pit, comfy adirondack chairs, large deck, well maintained dock directly on the lake, and all of the serenity it provided. Sitting on the lovely dock each morning with a cup of coffee was truly "just perfect".
The canoe and kayak made trips to the beach each day so convenient. We could load all of our chairs, cooler, and beach supplies up each day and quickly paddle over directly to our spot on the beach.
"Just Perfect" was extremely clean and well maintained, and Karen was so easy to deal with. We truly loved our stay at this location! The house was extremely convenient to all of the attractions of 30A and right down the road from Seaside, which my teenage girls loved to visit. I would definitely recommend this place to other families.
Our stay in "Just Perfect" was wonderful. We enjoyed spending our days at the beach and evenings on the pier overlooking Eastern Lake. The house was clean and exactly as described on the website. Access to the beach was just a short walk away and never too crowded. We appreciate the owners sharing their home and hope to return next year.
My family stayed at 'Just Perfect' for a full week June 8-June 15. The house is beautiful! I particularly love the location of the home. I am not fond of staying in crowded noisy locations. This home is just far enough away from the crowds but close enough to get there within minutes if you like. We are just as happy fishing as we are visiting the beach and this home offers both! The home is very clean and the owner of the home was very accessible when we had questions. Local restaurants and shopping were 10 minutes away. Destin is a short drive and has ALOT of shopping options. Great seafood restaurants! Deep Sea fishing was a highlight of this trip as well. We hope to visit in the future and plan to stay at 'Just Perfect' when we do.
We enjoyed our stay at " Just Perfect ". This was a Nana / older grandchildren ( 9 - 19 ) visit for the first few days and then my daughters and the youngest plus my best friend. We spent a lot of time on the dock and the canoe was perfect for getting all of our "stuff" to the beach. The house was everything the owner said it was and more. We are already making plans for next year!
My wife and I stayed here in May, 2013. The house is on a quiet street and is convenient to both the lake and ocean. To reach the ocean you would either have to take the canoe for a five minute trip to the beach or take a short five minute walk which required wading through a small finger of the lake. (This is probably a hundred feet across and not more than waist deep.) Both routes were a lot of fun and produced the result that the portion of the beach you came up on was very sparsely populated. It was almost like having a private beach. Additionally, the finger of the lake came to a halt about 50 yards from the beach and created a very shallow large pool which our grand kids found to be delightful.
The living area of the house itself is somewhat snug but well appointed. Most of the space has been devoted to the sleeping areas and bathrooms. All three bedrooms are generous proportions with very comfortable beds. Wifi reception was strong and the 3D TV was a pleasure.
Our grand kids spent part of the time with us and they absolutely loved the outdoor shower. The upstairs area is perfect for a family with mom and dad just down the hall from the kids. The downstairs bedroom was quite comfortable and even felt somewhat secluded in spite of being on the same floor as the living area.
This property is clean and well maintained, and the owners were a pleasure to deal with.
There is a Publix about 4 miles away and this house is extremely convenient to all of the attractions of 30A. I would definitely recommend this place to others (especially families with children) and we will likely return again.
Seaside, Watercolor, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach are all a short bike ride away for great food and shopping. Or enjoy the 21 mile Bike path that runs adjacent to Scenic Highway 30-A. Deer Lake State Park, Point Washington State Forest, within biking distance and have great hiking trails. Grayton Beach State Park, or Eden Gardens State Park is short drive. An excellent fishing guide lives two doors down the street. A canoe is provided for touring Eastern Lake or quick paddle to the beach.
