Why Jim Milbourne chose Diamond Valley
Barbados is the leading English-speaking island destination in the Southern Caribbean for North American, British and European tourists. Barbadians (“Bajans”) don’t face many of the problems that seem to plague other Caribbean nations. Relative lack of crime: A sizable middle class and a 97% literacy rate. We have rented a car for many consecutive years now—travelled all over the Island, day and night - and never felt threatened or un-save. High sanitation standards: You can drink the water straight from the tap, due in part, to the natural coral stone base of the island. Modern infrastructure: One of the best road systems in the Caribbean. Also, Grantley Adams Airport has recently been enlarged and renovated. Stable political climate: No “bloody coups”. The British colonized Barbados 300 years ago and is the only Caribbean island to have never changed hands among European powers. Still known as “Little England” because of the quiet and well mannered nature of the Bajan people. Upmarket Tourist Destination: No “Spring-Breakers” here!
What makes this Apartment unique
The Crane proudly sits on the cliff above the pale pink sands of Crane Beach, truly a stunning setting! The interior design of The Crane suites are just as grand! Old World Colonial charm! Bldg. #4 features high wooden tray ceilings in the living room and master bedroom. Wall surfaces are of native coral stone. Exquisite colonial replica furniture throughout, is hand carved from solid mahogany. Historical framed prints adorn the walls. The Crane is NOT your average large, generic 'chain type' resort!

Stunning views, well kept property, fabulous beach.
Property is beautiful & elegant. Beach is stunning, but large waves make it not ideal for small kids. Lots of pools and chairs - hard to find chairs with shade at the pool, but never a problem at the beach. Location is not in walking distance to town or restaurants, so you are a bit hostage to the resort unless you take a taxi or rent a car. Restaurants on the resort are excellent, but a bit pricey. Room has full kitchen so we off-set food costs by cooking a few nights. I would go back.
Elisa, I am very glad it worked out for you and your family! I am here now, starting to enjoy my annual 2 week RnR!
Perfect view of the sea with a cool windy breeze all day.
A lovely place to stay. Nice view of the pools, sunrise from the gallery, a perfect breeze to help you sleep! We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thanks to Jim who make us felt like home.
My wife and I stayed here January 2017 and it was beautiful. Jim was extremely helpful with advice on where to go and what to do while on the island and also very responsive to any questions we had.
The unit was very nice with great views looking out over the ocean. Having our morning coffee each day on the deck overlooking the ocean before heading down to Crane Beach each day, was just perfect.
The resort itself is also extremely nice with wonderful staff that are very friendly and helpful. All the restaurants were of high quality and had delicious food. The kitchen in the condo was well equipped for when we wanted to cook in for dinner as well! We cannot wait to go back!
Thank you very much D & K, for your review. Staying in Bldg 4 at The Crane Private Residences is really hard to beat! Although I am not a native 'Bajan', I'm still proud to share my island with tips and suggestions for getting the most out of my guests visit to Barbados.
Fantastic Property - You Will Love Staying Here
My wife and I stayed at the Crane from March 9th - 16th. We did not stay in this unit, but we had the pleasure of meeting Jim (the owner) and getting a tour of his condo. You won't be sorry if you book his condo!!! Beautifully maintained and fantastic views. Jim was such a nice man and very informative on things to do, both within the resort and elsewhere on the island. We will definitely be back and stay in Jim's condo.
Thank you very much Don & Lisa, for your lovely review of The Crane and my suite! What a nice surprise!
Gem of a Property
The toughest thing we had to do was decide to walk the pristine, picturesque beach or the beautiful gardens on the resort. Or should we dine at the Zen or Azure or order a take-out pizza from D'Onofrios?
We stayed three days at the historic hotel and then a week at Jim's condo. The transition from rooms was smooth. The unit was spacious, nicely appointed with a great view. Housekeeping was efficient and fresh towels and linens were provided daily.
We rented a car to explore the east coast. Directional signs were often only a "suggestion" and we found ourselves lost on bumpy, back roads. However, the Bajans were helpful in getting us turned around and a bus driver even got out of his vehicle to help us....thus an example of the Bajan spirit everywhere.
We are contemplating a return next winter. This is especially compelling as our weather is -15 with the wind chill factor today.
Special thanks to the owner who made this a worry free booking with ideas for "island exploring". All in all .................a terrific vacation choice.
The Crane is the BEST!
This was our second time at The Crane and it was as beautiful as we had remembered. This unit has the most amazing view and the breeze at night made it so we never needed the air conditioner once! We were a group of three, it was me, my husband and my best friend. We rented a car and did quite a bit of island exploring. We would wake up and enjoy a coffee and banana bread down at the cafe/bakery in The Crane and then for lunch hopped over to Cutters for a flying fish sandwich and a Banks beer or their famous rum punch (we are all addicted to Cutters and already miss it). For a few of our adventures we visited North Point, St Nicolas Abby Rum Distillary, Oistens Fish Market, and St. Johns church. Although The Crane is a little out of the way, it was never too far from any point on the island once my husband was comfortable driving. The people on the island are so nice and friendly. We will definitely be back to The Crane in the near future, we love it here!!!!
The Crane Residences are located on the Breezy southeast coast of Barbados - very comfortable!
