Newly remodeled kitchen is beautiful. Perfect size for 2. The location is centrally located so it is easy to go either North Shore or South Shore, however you are feeling. The condo has great trade wind breezes so it is always comfortable. Right across the road from some great restaurants at Kinipopo Shopping Village. Street Burger is awesome!! Great burgers and craft brews. The desserts are to die for! Monico's Taqueria and Kintaro's for sushi are great.
The property is well located - halfway between Princeville to the north and Poipu to the south. Easy access to most attractions on the island and some good dining choices close by. Best part of the condo is the balcony, which offers unobstructed views of Wailua Bay. Sitting at sunset was the best part of the day, and we often opted to dine on the balcony instead of going out. Well equipped kitchen, remodeled bath, decent furniture and entertainment center. As a whole the condo is a bit dated and requires minor fixes, but that did not make our stay less enjoyable.
Long story short, we had a long standing reservation at a condo complex further down Papaloa Road where we've stayed several times over the years. When we found out that there would be major construction on our building about four weeks before our trip, we began a frantic search for another ocean front condo. We completely lucked out by finding condo #315 at the Wailua Bay View Condos. We felt like we were on a ship at sea with this all ocean front location. Our condo was clean, in great shape, well appointed, had everything we needed in the kitchen, and there were two excellent Weber gas grills out by the lovely, peaceful and very cool looking pool. Nothing personal, Kauai....we love you...we just haven't found the right restaurants over the years, so we find ourselves doing the Costco/Safeway thing for almost every meal. Our balcony was so close to the ocean it felt like we were looking over the bow. Our condo had one bedroom and one bathroom, kitchen, a large living room and a washing machine and dryer. The people staying there were super friendly. The management office was wonderful to deal with; their office is just down the road and they were great. On Sunday our internet went out and the much lauded Cindy came over and did trouble shooting with the cable company, getting us up quickly - on a SUNDAY! They also printed work things out for me, and just were generally very nice to deal with. Here are a couple things we would have preferred: There is no direct beach access. One must walk through scrubby grass down the road at the entrance to Lydgate Beach, or walk down the road and get access from another property, or as we did almost every day, drive to favorite beaches and activities. The bedroom in the back is pretty close to the main road. Could be a bit noisy, but really not that bad. We would have loved a second bathroom, but that's just a personal choice. Highly recommend - excellent value.
We come to Kauai for a casual lifestyle. Comfortable and well equipped for making meals and dining on the lanai. Remodeled kitchen. Lots of linens and towels. Shower is a winner. Understand sea breeze is hard on front window wall; it needs an upgrade. It's the price to pay for an excellent location. Most pleased with the management personnel.
We loved how centrally located this place is - easy to get to points both north and south. The location of the room was also great - top floor (less noise), great views, and with nice privacy. We ate every meal on the lanai - breakfasts, dinners, and then even drinks as it got dark. Actually, we hardly used the main living area at all - just the kitchen, bedroom and lanai! The place is very well stocked - which was a nice surprise. Everything from partially used bottles of sunscreen and bug repellent, to soaps, kitchen supplies, etc. I'm not sure these are always available or just leftovers, but it was nice to find them there, and we left some things there ourselves - paying it forward a little. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, dishes, etc - again - nice to not have to "make do" without essentials. The place was very clean and well kept.
I am pretty sure we will be back to Kauai in the future, but probably not for a number of years, but when we come back, we will start by looking for this place - we would definitely stay here again!
A bit of advice: After you go to this place, go to Costco to pick up food and supplies for your stay - we saved a bundle over local stores that way. Also, if you are in the military or DoD, your first day should include going to PMRF to get discounted tickets - the sunset dinner cruise from Port Allen, and the "doors off" helicopter ride from Jack Harter, were both awesome!
Perfect property for the view, the quiet swimming beach, the fact that there are super walks right out of the condo, the pool is just right and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook in.
There is a wonderful small bakery right across the street as well as a Mexican restaurant that serves up great food.
The unit is centrally located and has a several supermarkets within a mile along with other shopping. We enjoyed the pool area in the afternoons and found it to be a quiet spot but also a gathering place for residents to enjoy each others company.
This unit is an excellent value, very clean, comfortable bed and is nicely decorated.
Wailua Bay View is within walking distance to some of great restaurants, bakeries, gas station and Coconut Market Place.
