About the property

2 Bedroom, 1.5 Bath Home On Beautiful Lake Charlevoix

A perfect private getaway, sleeps 5-7 people, great for a family or 2 couples with kids. Our home has panoramic views from a large deck overlooking Lake Charlevoix and a charming covered porch with lots of comfortable seating. Last spring we added a tiki bar with the best view on the lake! Relax on your private sandy beach and have a bonfire in the fire pit. You can tie your boat to the mooring ball at the end of the dock or bring or rent kayaks to explore the lake. It is a five minute drive or bike ride to downtown Boyne City, a premier Main Street Community, where you can enjoy the many small town festivities, concerts, farmers market, restaurants, or Stroll the Streets on Friday nights. Drive 6 miles to Boyne Mountain resort and spa, with world class golf, water park, and skiing, or just 45 minutes to catch the ferry to Mackinaw Island for the day! This family cottage is complete with all the comforts and conveniences you will need, a well-stocked kitchen with everything required for cooking and dining as well as a gas grill and patio tables for barbecuing. There are 2 large bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other has a queen bed and a twin bed with a private half bath. There is a full bath between the 2 bedrooms with a large walk-in shower and lots of vanity space and storage. The living room has plenty of seating with amazing views of the lake, the dining table seats 6, and there is a sun/family room with an extra table and seating area, and a queen size sofa bed. The kitchen, dining room and sun room also have unbelievable views of Lake Charlevoix. There is a washer and drier and we provide plenty of linens and towels, and paper products to start you out. If you rent for ski season, keep your car warm and dry in our attached 2 car garage, with lots of room for skis, boots, and equipment. We are only 15 minutes from Boyne Mountain, and minutes away from several cross country ski trails. All you need are your clothes and food for a week of relaxation and fun, or a season of skiing!

About Barbara Ellwanger

We live and work in Boyne City year round, and moved here several years ago because we love the area & enjoy boating, golfing, and skiing. We actually met while skiing at Boyne, and were married at the top of Aspen Mountain 10 years ago. We only live 4 miles away, on the other side of the lake, so we are always available for any questions or information about the area. We love Boyne City and Lake Charlevoix and there is no place else on earth we would choose to live!

Barbara Ellwanger purchased this house in 2012

Why Barbara Ellwanger chose Northern Michigan

We purchased this house in Sept of 2012. Known as the 'pink house', it is a landmark for local boaters and fishermen, so we have decided to keep it's unique color. It was a well-loved and maintained home so we have only had minimal sprucing up, painting and decorating to do. As we are both do-it-yourselves, this has been a fun project that we both enjoy. We recently worked on some fun additions to the large deck, including a tiki bar and a palm tree! We would like this to be the kind of place we would pick ourselves for a vacation away from home.

The pink house was the perfect getaway. It had beautiful views from the entire front of the house. Sitting on the porch and having coffee while taking in the view was a wonderful start to the day. The house had everything we needed to cook pretty much anything we wanted. It was very well stocked. For the nights we wanted to get out, we were only a short drive to boyne city or Walloon lake. Plus, we were able to take some longer trips to local breweries and even a day trip to traverse city. We had a spectacular and relaxing 10 days. The house was very comfortable and we were able to get out and the location was great. Highly recommend.

Fall Colors

  • 5 of 5

I spent 3 beautiful days at the pink house, saw spectacular fall colors from the top of Avalanche, enjoyed outstanding food at the local restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The house is comfortable and very well equipped in a great location. The only thing more welcoming than the pink house are the owners, Barb and George. There is so much to do in the area I may just need to come back!

Perfect Stay on Lake Charlevoix

  • 5 of 5

Our month-long stay at the Pink House was excellent. Booking was easy. The photos are representative (if anything, we found the house to be larger than we expected.) The kitchen is exceptionally well stocked with everything you could need, including a good selection of herbs/spices and good knives for the fussy cook in your group. Washer, drier, gas grill, "library", fire pit were all nice touches to enhance our stay. The tiki deck was great when we had visitors, and the shaded and always breezy front porch became a "bonus room" for reading and enjoying the views of the lake. Barb and George were available and gracious when we had questions. Barb reports that Wi-Fi is coming in 2016. Note that the house and beach/dock are separated by the road, but we knew this from the map and it was not a problem for us. Our expectations were met or exceeded in all respects.

A wonderful Mother's Day Gift

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in The Pink House! Very clean inside&out and the grounds were well manicured. Everything worked; bathroom, kitchen, dishwasher (my husband!!) gas grill, televisions, furnace with very comfortable furniture and bed. Wonderful lake views and great sun sets.

1st day May 18th; 80 degrees - sunburned :)

2nd day; 30 degrees w/snow - frostbite :(

3rd day; 50 degrees - ;l

4th day; 60 degrees - ;l

But, getting out and enjoying Boyne City, the country side around Lake Charlevoix was the high lite of our stay.

With this being our first time renting a home, Barbara and George really made us feel comfortable and are great hosts. Boyne City is blessed to have them!

Two thumbs up for the Pink House!

  • 5 of 5

This home was inviting, clean and very accommodating for our family of 5. We made use of the fire pit for nighttime s'mores on the beach, enjoyed breakfast on the garage's roof top deck and completed our days of boating by relaxing with a cocktail and a book by the tiki bar. The owners were attentive and accessible when needed. The care and pride they take in this home is evident and the pricing was reasonable. Enjoy!
